It had been days since the dark female had left the borders of the Firekin in defeat from losing her first duel again one of their members. While the wound of being bested so easily still stung it did not discourage Ares from returning once more and trying again. Again she would duel one of their own and possibly this time she would be the one coming out victorious and be welcomed into their ranks. Her red paws walked along the sands near the borders of the pride, hoping that somehow, someone already knew of her arrival and would come to meet her like. This time she would do this without her snake companions who were still resting from the night.

Of course Zara had told her ever faithful vulture to keep tabs on the newcomer in case she was to come back again. Perhaps the loss against the smaller lioness would spur her own desire to join and it would help her win. Who really knew what was going on in the other lioness' head as Zara approached her. She stopped a decent distance away, possibly fifteen feet allowing them personal space for the time being before their duel.
"Back again?" Was called out in greeting to her, a grin spread wide on her face. "You already know the rules. Begin when ready."

Was she really ready for this. Bi-colored eyes stared up the dune towards the smaller lioness who would be her combatant for the second time within a short span of time. This Zara was a fine warrior and perhaps this time she would actually best her. Though making the first move last time had possibly cost her the duel by using so much energy within the first few minutes. This time Ares would wait for the small Firekin to come to her instead.

Silver eyes stared right back down the mound of sand at her challenger. She was confused. Why wasn't she charging up at her? Was she thinking of how to go about her attack this time around? Was she waiting for a sign or something even though Zara had already told her to make the first move? No, she wasn't waiting for anything except for the small lioness to make her move instead. She wasn't going to make the first move. Zara's grin grew ever larger. "Suit yourself." She said, acknowledging the other's choice in tactic as she slid down the sands and leapt upon the larger lioness.

While she had expected Zara to make the first move, she was not expecting to suddenly have the small female body jumping upon her. Ares fell quickly to the ground as she attempted to kick her off of her though her feet kept missing the body of the female above her while she snarled up at her.

Zara grinned down to her. She was enjoying this greatly. She got the first hit in and had always loved doing so, especially when that hit managed to catch her opponent off guard so easily. While it this seemed too easy, she didn't quite care. It was just nice getting back on her paws now that her children had grown a bit and her training had paid off in recovering from the pregnancy. As Ares attempted to get a kick or hit in, Zara knocked them away with her own foot, keeping the other under her despite their size difference.

Despite Zara's efforts though Ares finally managed to get out from underneath the smaller form, scrambling backwards quickly. She had not expected the duel to become so one-sided so quickly but what could she have really expected? This lioness before her was a from a pride comprised mainly of warriors. This was their way of life. Could she really do this? Could she really be one of them despite how easily Zara was beating her already? She shook her head in an attempt to clear her head and then stared back with her eyes filled with a sudden determination. Yes, yes she did belong there.

Zara smirked, her lips pulling up as the lioness in front of her got a sudden look of confidence on her. Maybe this duel wasn't going to be do easy after all. Again she charged, paw raised to try and nab the other on her shoulder to put her off balance or possibly at least make her stumble enough to get another hit in.

Ares' eyes widened as the other lioness came towards her again, but this time she had been prepared. She stepped backwards, more careful then before to make sure she did not trip over herself or something else in the process. Success! Zara's attempt at a hit missed, though not by much. With adrenaline rushing through her body, the darker lioness took the opportunity to mimic a previous attack that had been used on her. With her head lowered, Ares charged at the other lioness with the intent of rushing her side.

Zara fell to her side as the hit connected, leaving the larger lioness looming over her at her full height while the already Firekin laid on the sand a few feet away. She turned her head, silver eyes glaring back towards her as she pulling herself up onto shaky legs. The hit had been a good one if not a great one as it not only taken her off-guard, knocked her to the ground but had already knocked the wind from her lungs in such a way that had begun to cause exhaustion as her body rushed to recover the lost oxygen.

Why was she not attacking? Ares was mildly confused by the lack of retaliation coming from the female. Before she had always come back at her so quickly. Now she was...tired? A smile spread on her maw. This wasn't so bad! It was mainly the timing that she had to get right. Also not having fought in so long had not helped. She did have her honor though and would not raise a paw to her while she was recovering from the last blow. Even though it could have ended the duel right there, it would have no have been fair and while fighting was about winning, it was also about the honor one received in the end. At least for her now. Her old pride probably would have disagreed.

Zara let out a growl as she finally forced herself to move, attempting to get the other down on the ground. This way at least she could claim some kind of victory in this duel. Her efforts were for naught though as it was a quickly dodged attack. Instead of ending up with fur front of her she ended up with sand in her face. With another growl of frustration, she pulled herself up onto her paws once more and while not shaky, they were a little unsteady.
"You have proved yourself to be my equal. You already know my name, perhaps you will share your's on our way to the pride's center. I noticed your serpent companions are not with you. Gather them and meet me back here as quickly as you can."

Final Results: Zara - 10 | Ares - 10 | TIE
She made it in! Oh this was a happy day for Ares. While this pride was bound to be drastically different from her last pride. perhaps it would similar enough that she could adjust given time. With a nod, Ares turned quickly to get Deimos and Phobos. Oh those snakes would be ecstatic, or at least Deimos would be.
