Quote:

Before your hunter enters their first floor dorm room, roll 1 d100!

The dorms were damaged greatly during the clearing, particularly the first floor, as many Intermediates and trainees kept making trips to get items from their rooms.

1-10: Your room is destroyed, you have lost all possessions not ICly taken out prior to 6-6-12. You must share a room with another hunter.

11-20: Your room is destroyed, but some possessions are salvageable. You must share a room with another hunter.

21-50: A water pipe burst in your room, all you own is now water logged, except for possessions ICly taken out prior to 6-6-12. You must share a room with another hunter.

50-60: You are missing a wall, and some possessions. Deal with it.

60-80: There's several large holes in your wall. Deal with it.

80-100: Your room is untouched!

Harrison walked skeptically towards his part of the hall. 130. The last time he was here, it had been okay, but he had no idea what shape it was in now. All the fog was gone, and he could see the full extent of the damage up and into rooms. Some missing doors, some ruined ceilings. Holes, burns, slashes and tears.

His door was still standing, but the wall to the right of it wasn't. He twisted the handle, just for curiousity's sake. Still locked. He stepped over the scattered plaster.

His unicorn painting just plain gone, maybe stolen by an art collector. His chair was also mysteriously missing.

The unicorn stuffed animal was dirty, and had fallen into a corner, but was okay. He brushed it off. His closet was, thankfully and miraculously, completely untouched. He picked up a little. The mushroom lamp from Candace was okay too. Stuff from the ceiling and wall had gotten all over everything. He'd have to dump it outside and put his sheets through the laundry.

He was also going to have to google some s**t about wall insulation.

It had occurred to him that with all the damage the dorms had taken, from the creatures and from the hunters clearing them out, that his room might have been damaged. While most of his possessions were unimportant, could be bought again, if the pictures of his family had gotten damaged, Jordan had no way to replace them. His steps lengthened until he was nearly running down the hall.

The door to room 113 was still closed. The minor crater that he and Ferros had put into the floor nearby was still there, but he ignored it. He swung open the door, bracing himself for destruction and disappointment -

- and found the room just as he'd left it. He sagged against the doorframe with pure relief.

Rep didn't know what to expect from his room. He'd been back once since the attack and at that time the mould problem was getting sort of out of hand. As he opened the door this time the smell was more than one of just old mugs but one of dampness, all to familiar to him given the shitty houses he'd lived in in the past.

His heart sank as he took in the water damage. Everything. Every last thing ruined, from the bed linens to the storage. He didn't even dare open the drawers that contained the clothes he hadn't thought to bring with him. He wasn't sure he could handle it. He made out that items didn't matter, but they mattered quite a lot to him. He felt like he'd lost an old friend when he'd left everything behind to come to the island, he felt like he'd lost the last memories of them here.

At least Alex, his PC was somewhere still intact, it was about the only real comfort in losing the last of his things.

There was nothing really tying him to his past any more. Nothing at all. It was terrifying, and it was liberating.

He could only hope the others had fared better.

Jerry approached the rubble-encrusted room anxiously. His heart was in his throat.

On one hand.... he was fairly certain Killzone would not want to bunk in a destroyed room.

On the other hand... it was still his room.

A shattered dolphin-shaped night light lay on the floor, and he nearly crunched it under foot upon stepping in. The far wall was open to daylight streaming in, a clear blue sky glimmering through for the first time in... ever.

CD cases and CDs alike lay scattered like glimmering, shattered confetti across the floor, and he stooped to pick up a stray, dusty sweatervest that had been launched from his closet. He ran his hands over the yarn. It was one his grandmother had made. gingerly he pressed it to his face, just relishing in the familiar feel of the fabric before tucking it under his arm to dig through the wreckage.

There was a sizable crack on the wall behind his bed, his treasured poster laying in torn pieces in the rubble on the table below.

Carefully, he gathered every piece he could find, sifting them into a neat pile before rolling it up. His guitar, at least, was safe down in the bunker in it's hiding spot. He didn't care about the case, that usually just stayed stuffed in his closet. He could always buy a new case. He could replace CDs and player. It was inconsequential. He found his ridiculous Hawaiian shirt half burnt hanging from the corner of a piece of the shattered bunk bed. He let it lay. Store bought clothes could be store bought again.

It was a good thing he had done well in Vegas, he figured to himself. He poked at more rubble with his cane, finding the mushroom lamp he had carefully fixed, and his stomach tightened to see the spotted red shards amongst the rest.

A lone Kazoo sat, miraculously unscathed.

He drew in a deep breath.

Well... what now?

When the skies cleared and all the gray and fog and INSANITY went away, Before stared up in awe. He might have also fallen to his knees in grateful prayer. His relief didn't last long as it was now replaced with the fact that he would have to see what all the fighting and battling had done to the dorms. He was certain some would be unfit to live in and was hoping against hope his was not one of them.

As he ran, the Misty came to a halt at Room 104. He can see into his room through one of the many holes littering the walls. This was not a good sign. He gulped and entered, scanning and checking his things. Other than the bits of plaster, his stuff was safe! 8DDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Which he rummaged through and got some spare pieces of paper to temporarily patch up the holes in his wall. Wouldn't want any cucumber-head creatures staring at him now, would he?

Ofelia's room, when she managed to get back there, had very clearly been destroyed. There was nothing left that wasn't under a nice layer of water, and the sun teen sighed as she looked at everything that was wonderfully waterlogged.

There was nothing of import to her in this room, nothing she'd weep over or feel so horrible that it was gone. Her flip flops and her cards had come out with her long ago and that was all that she'd had to start with. There was nothing in this room, since she'd came to Deus with nothing, and she rubbed the back of her neck as she sloshed along the ground.

She hadn't forgotten anything, had she? No, it wasn't really possible - she didn't have any pictures that she needed or gifts from anyone. No recipe books that she'd risk her life over, no mementos of family and friends that she'd weep if she was unable to get a look at them again over. No big deal, nothing missing.

The problem now was where was she going to sleep? Ofelia didn't have anyone she could trust to ask to crash in their room - everyone had their own affairs going, their own friendships and everything else. She didn't have a person she could suddenly show up at their door with just herself and be welcomed in.

For the first time in a long time she felt alone again in the large building and it pissed her off. A heavy kick from her foot into the water-logged mattress was absorbed with a sickening squelch, and the teen turned on her feet as she headed out. Maybe she could sleep in the kitchen or something.

She finally had her room back. Finally. Or, well, she had her stuff back. Candace was not looking forward to seeing if she lost anything. Would she lose anything of sentimental value? She hoped not. She liked her things.

Closing her eyes, Candace breathed in quietly and then finally opened the door.

She opened one eye, worried the room was destroyed.

...A wall had crumbled, the one that had separated her room from Gale's. Gale had already moved out though, so..no big deal, she supposed. She frowned, moving further into the room. The blue teddy bear Jerry had given her for Christmas was wrecked, a couple limbs torn off and his stuffing all over her bed. She picked it up, or at least what she could pick up, and watched as the last thread that held the head on the bear's shoulders gave and the head went tumbling down. She bit down on her lip. She'd really liked that bear, too.

The bear was dropped on the floor with a sigh as she turned to move on. A few drawers were open...nothing seemed too wrecked. A bit of water damage from the floor above, some rubble..nothing terrible.

There was a crunch of glass under her foot and she looked down, blinking. A picture frame. She reached down to pick it up, very carefully removing the photo of H and Jerry from the Christmas Gala from the destroyed frame. The frame was tossed aside without a care. She'd clean up later. Not like she planned on being in this room for much longer. She'd just buy a new picture frame.

A couple pairs of shoes were chewed up. She sighed. Damnit, she liked those shoes..

The costume from Julie, Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer, was shredded. Candace ruffled her hair and sighed again. Damnit. Why did she even still have that?

There was one last thing...

...Okay. That could be destroyed.

The blow-up doll that Robert had given her for Christmas, the one she'd never even opened the box of. That was completely destroyed.

She'd be happy to throw that in the trash.

Candace hummed quietly and sat down at the edge of her bed, taking out her phone and dialing a quick message. Her promotion request.

She was so done being a trainee..

Sasha stared at her door for a long, long time. The pieces of paper that she'd taped there forever ago were tattered, some burned, others ripped or shredded. The paper with her name on it was almost melancholy as it rustled, jostled by Sasha's loud exhalation. Sending a glance down either direction of the long corridor, Sasha finally turned the handle and shoved the door open.

Unscathed. There was some dirt that had been tracked in, but nothing a thorough cleaning couldn't fix.

Sasha let out a loud sigh and tore the tattered remaining scraps of paper from her door before moving further in to the room, leaving the door open behind her.

Aleister had walked back to his dorm room staring at the damage. His room was basically a pool, not to mention everything in it soaked. It was a good thing he'd saved his gameboy and the few games he had. Even the giant stuffed bear he'd managed to snag at Christmas and shove in the closet was lost.

He stood there staring at his room. Talk about bad luck, he sighed as he tried to dig out a few blankets or something. Maybe he could hang them to dry and try to salvage something that he could make a bed or a tent out of. Though it seemed pretty hopeless as most everything he pulled out was ripped or torn in some way. "What a mess." He muttered shaking out his shoes as he came out of his room.

Wash could hear cries of dismay echoing around the dorms, real or imagined, as he slowly made his way to his former sanctuary. He had his wallet. He had the photos, right? And that was the important thing. The only important thing. Still, his dorm had been his only sanctuary for ages, and to see it turned into so much rubble would be...painful. Bracing himself, he stood before his door in the hallway, taking in a deep breath and finally pushing it open with a quick shove. It was like jerking off a bandaid, the pain was the same, but over more quickly, right? After a half a second he realized he'd been squeezing his eyes shut, but there was something warm and alive playing against his face. He squinted, tentatively.

"...HA!" He cried, letting out his breath in a relieved sigh. Other than a small crack in the window, his room was shockingly unscathed. There was the overturned chair he'd nearly tripped on when he'd come here in the dark, but- it was whole and perfect. Light from outside flooded through the small window and created shapes across his smiling visage as the curtains played in an unfelt breeze. He strode forward and flopped bonelessly on his narrow cot.

Home.

Syd stared at the door of her room for a long moment, her hand trembling slightly as she reached up and touched the numbers on the door. This was home. This was where she kept all her stuff. And there was a good chance that it was completely gone.

Her hand hesitated before trailing down the door, touching the handle. Slowly she forced her fingers to wrap around it, turning it slowly, barely putting any weight behind the door. It swung open far too easily, she thought, closing her eyes for a second because she didn't want to look.

But she was being ridiculous, and she knew it. Slowly she opened her eyes, daring to look into the--

Perfect room. Nothing had happened to it. Everything was still in place, just as she'd left it. And Syd let out a heavy sigh of relief.

After a while of just standing there staring at his room he decided to see how the other's faired. Mainly Thirteen and Syd, after all they were probably the closest thing he had to friends on the island.

As he walked he glanced around at the rest of the wreckage, most of it was pretty bad but not all of them seemed to be the shape his was in. He paused at Harrison's, noticing the hunter in the room through one of the unfortunate holes in the wall, before giving a knock on the wall in a place that it looked solid. He was kind of unsure what a knock on the door would do. He also saw Sydney not too far down the hall, she was staring at her room; "Hey Syd," He called as he waited for Harrison as well.

Harrison just walked around, rather than bother using the door. "Hey," he said, "Kinda a wreck, huh? Guess it could have been worse. My closet's okay, at least."

He eyed the missing wall.

"And I can patch that up, I guess."

Patch was under-exaggerating a little.

"How's yours?"

Rin shot Rep a fleeting look of sadness as she stood beside her own door. Room 199. This was it. She drew a deeep breath and then turned the handle pushing it open and blinking.

Holy crap. It was all just as she'd left it. She could barely believe it. Not a corner of bed spread out of place. She smiled fondly to herself before remembering the look of horror on rep's face - then instantly felt like s**t.

"Oh my god this sunshine, yes, there shall be tanning," Madison proclaimed as she flung open the door to the dorms. Her room was right by the entrance, so she didn't have far to go - but a pang of nervousness stopped her from opening the door right away. Last time she'd been in there, there'd been freaks there. Oh, and she'd impaled her favorite shoes.

Rest in peace, favorite shoes.

She took a deep breath and steeled herself before opening her door, bracing herself for the worst... but hey! It looked surprisingly okay! Sure, she had a new and unplanned window in the outer wall - okay, multiple windows - but it looked like that was the only damage. Madison slumped with relief, then hurried over to her closet and pulled out a few hangers, beaming broadly as she did so. While she knew clothes weren't important, she'd missed feeling good and clean and pretty and fully confident in her put-together appearance. A stupid psychological crutch perhaps, but there it was.

((60-80: There's several large holes in your wall. Deal with it.))
