HISTORY:
The short version:
Isaac grew up in foster care with a fairly normal upbringing, but despite his efforts was never adopted. On his 18th birthday, he was able to leave the facility and strike out on his own. Making a meager living in a tiny apartment for a few years, Isaac picked up a few vices like smoking cigarettes, drinking (a little too often) at bars, and racing his motorcycle on the highway. Cheap thrills, but at least he was making his way in the world. Isaac has no memory of the night that effectively ended his life except for waking up on a park bench at 4:00 in the morning after going out for a few drinks. He wandered home with a splitting headache and for the rest of the weekend experienced very unsettling changes in his biology, sleep patterns, and appetite. Noticing the huge red/black bruising on the side of his neck freaked him out the most.
Over the next few days, Isaac found it impossible to wake up for work in the morning, and suffered through flu-like symptoms every day until he was eventually fired. His skin turned ashen and clammy like a corpse, he grew fangs and developed enhanced abilities and senses. Although these changes contributed to a terrifying and utterly confusing stage of life, there was nothing to do but try to "live" it as normally as possible. His fate seemed inevitable: it was the night life for Isaac. Realizing that he had many "symptoms" of the entertainment industry's idea of vampires, that was reluctantly how he was forced to think of himself now. At this point anyone would consider themselves certifiably insane, but Isaac was still trying to eke out a living as an unlicensed tattoo artist who worked from his dingy apartment. Only one problem: people bleed when they get tattoos. He could have turned into a new Sweeney Todd, only there was nobody to bake the pies. At first, Isaac refused to kill people to satisfy this new blood craving. He subsisted on raw meat from the grocery store and did okay for a little while.
There were a few close encounters. One night in particular kicked everything into motion for our boy. Isaac was out for a midnight stroll. There was some commotion at the 24-hour convenience store, a robber had cut the cashier with a broken bottle and run for it with a bag full of cash. Isaac didn't intend to chase after the man until he caught the scent of fresh blood on him, and the predator in him found it irresistible. He tackled the robber to the ground and bit him, sucking his blood. Luckily the police arrived and dragged the vampire off the man before he bled out on the pavement, but Isaac took off before they could question him. It wasn't long until the description of him was circulating the news, but instead of praising his efforts to "stop a convenience store robber" they started calling him Jack the Ripper Junior, or Jack Jr. for short. Being found with your teeth lodged into someone's neck is never good for public safety, nor is having a man walking around thinking he's a bloody vampire.
Isaac managed to skirt public attention for a while. There were many men who fit his description in the city. What he did not manage to do was to quash his hunger for blood. Raw meat from the store just didn't satisfy as well as fresh blood, that was a fact. It wasn't long before hunger pains drove the young vampire to strike again, and again. The news blew up at the supposed serial killer on the loose. Isaac wallowed miserably in self-hatred but there was nothing he could do-- it was literally "eat or be eaten" in his new worldview. Survival of the fittest. His vampire body and mind did not seem to be interested in starving.
So how did Isaac come to the Asylum? It certainly wasn't by choice. The young man was admittedly a little late to bed one morning. The sun was up by the time he painfully stumbled into his apartment to crash in bed, but he had left a trail-- literally. Red dots on the sidewalk. In retrospect, it was an incredibly juvenile (fledgling) mistake, but sunlight has a way of making a vampire unfocused. The police forcefully broke in and dragged him from his bed. Isaac was still, of course, covered in the red evidence of an hour ago's binge. Then it was straight to the Asylum, where he's sure he doesn't belong... Oh no, not him.
PERSONALITY:
For someone who never attended higher education past highschool, he is pretty well-read and eager to learn new things. He was one of those kids who actually did the assigned reading in school and liked spending time at the library, although he has no lack of street smarts too. Before being turned into a vampire he was sort of the class clown type, choosing a good sense of humor as a way to deal with his less-than-perfect life. That sense of humor has grown darker since becoming a creature of the night, but it's still a coping mechanism.
Isaac finds it difficult to express his emotions to other people, especially when feeling vulnerable, and in some ways is emotionally challenged. He would rather say everything's okay than to tell someone about his problems, since it's easier to brush everything off his shoulders than to actually deal with certain feelings and trust somebody. Being inherently introverted and a little socially awkward, he tries using his charisma to disarm people (avoiding a fight or talking to women, pretty much the same strategy) rather than to manipulate them. At the same time, he will never run away from a fight that he can't convince someone not to fight, he will fight as hard as he can. Isaac is usually mild-mannered and calm, but can be riled easily if the right buttons are pressed. Despite his "survival of the fittest" worldview, he isn't over-the-top unkind, although he may come off that way to a bleeding heart type. He's toughened himself to deal with a negative, unpredictable life, and learned that being independent and doing what you want to do is the only way to be "happy". If you put your trust in people, they'll betray you or let you down. In the real world, it's eat or be eaten.
Although Isaac realizes that it makes him uncomfortable to trust anyone, he's felt that throughout his life he's always been trying to make a connection with people. He's made no lasting friendships. The few friends he had after school were little more than frequent acquaintances with little to no emotional attachment. The few relationships he's tried to have with girls were unhappy and did not last for various reasons. Isaac has a somewhat dominant personality in that he likes to make his own choices and nobody can tell him otherwise, but that goes the same for anyone else: he wouldn't presume to tell others how to live their lives either. He would be surprised if he still had the capacity to make a real connection with someone, to make a true friend who isn't trying to get something from you, or to find "true" love. Unfortunately, Isaac has no idea what "true" love actually feels like. Being a vampire makes him incredibly aware of the fact that he's become more beast-like, but it's one thing he wishes he could ignore. His biggest fear is that the beast inside of him will come out (again) and he'll become an uncontrollable monster -- with no capacity for love, no heart, and no ability to choose his own path.
APPEARANCE:
Age: 24 years old
Height/build: 5'8" and lightly muscular
Skin tone: Light/medium brown but sort of ashen/grey to give the impression of being corpse-like. (if artistically possible)
Eyes: The normally white part of the eyeball is black. Pupils are enlarged and rimmed with a red iris. The skin surrounding his eyes should be darker as well.
Hair: medium length, parted in the front, black color
Fingernails: black, not extremely long but longer than normal, pointed
Lips: Similarly colored to area surrounding eyes
Tattoo: On inside of arm above gloves, a black ankh with bat wings. Having the wings wrap around the arm is fine. Here is an ankh symbol, for reference, and this is pretty much what I envision an ankh with bat wings should generally look like. The "loop" part near the top needn't be colored in.
Clothing: (See ref. avatar below)
Basically, a zippered vest with some patches/pins and studs on the shoulders (doesn't have to look exactly like avatar vest image, but close is preferable). Gloves/arm warmers: Black shredded material with red fabric underneath, like the ever popular ripped jeans style. Dark/black denim jeans or black pants, whichever is easier to draw. Deviation from avatar below: The suspender hanging down (the single yellow one on the avatar) should be red instead. Black boots.
Accessories:
Leather collar with buckle visible around neck (like this but without spikes)
Sunglasses (see ref. avatar)
Earrings like this but not the lowest dangly one, just the simple rings, stainless steel, in both ears. Some can be covered by his hair, though.
Expression: Similar to the avatar, looking over glasses with fangs visible. Would prefer if it did not look vicious, friendly/amused/neutral is fine.

- I also have one artistic interpretation of the description given in this thread.
- I've added the other reference images to the above sections.
POWERS AND TRAITS:
Powers:
- Supernatural strength/senses/healing (3 times stronger/faster than humans), I thought it was okay to link together as "one" power since they sort of come in the supernatural package.
- When he bites people/animals his saliva acts as a sort of "drug" that makes them stop struggling and forget what's actually going on.
(For RPing purposes, since Isaac doesn't actually know how to turn someone else into a vampire, I'm going to assume that the person needs to drink his blood as well. That way if people do allow him to bite them during RP, we won't run the risk of having them turning into vampires. Unless that's okay by the owners and a plot that someone wants to do, I don't know!)
Traits:
- Due to being undead, is resistant to most diseases, illnesses, and poisons.
- Capable of enduring lower temperatures easier than humans.
- Not susceptible to most traditional vampire weaknesses (religious items, garlic, dying immediately in sunlight, etc).
- Nocturnal, so more sharp/alert and has improved reflexes during nighttime, as well as night vision (also is generally more content).
Weaknesses:
- Less capable than most humans of enduring higher temperatures (or at least will feel very uncomfortable).
- Possibility of "blood lust" craziness when under-fed.
- Exposure to the sun, while not fatal, causes general weakness to the tune of nausea, fever, dizziness, failure to concentrate, grumpiness, etc. May experience these to a lesser degree if awake during the daytime even without sun exposure.
- Almost blind in bright light (sun or artificial) due to his enlarged pupils, as they're built for night vision, hence the need for sunglasses even inside.
- Seems to have an allergy to silver, or at least it causes weakness whenever it comes in contact with skin, and prolonged contact can cause burning.
- Visible in mirrors, cameras, and videotape (listed as a weakness because it's traditionally a way for vampires to be stealthy, but generally speaking it's not necessarily a weakness)
- Cannot climb walls, fly, or anything like that.
