Usually the Defenders would hold their meetings outside, either on the obstacle course or out in the Weeping Forest. With graduation and a high damage bill looming over their heads, the Defenders have opted to voluntarily take a less action-oriented approach to their meetings. And by that they have out-right overtaken the Monster dorm common room, the only place in the school that had yet to be destroyed by them. It was only in this room that there was a strict "No Fighting" rule in place. After all, it wouldn't do them any good to have destroyed their one remaining meeting place.

"Oi! Going to stand there and gawk or take a bloody seat?" Red snapped from inside the room, stopping long enough to snap her fingers for attention. "Go sit down or lean against something or whatever." The werewolf paused long enough to grab at the towel she had draped around her neck to wipe at her face, her hair still damp. It seemed Red deviated long enough from the hidden lake to her room long enough to bring just herself a towel. Anyone else who was wet would have to make deal with finding something else to dry themselves with.

Once a majority of the group was settled in, Red looked up from her work. Arel was sprawled across the table in front of her, and it seemed that she was attempting to pump lake water out of him and into a bucket. "So. The lake," she began awkwardly, looking around. "I want to hear what you guys think before I give my two cents."

Vel had wasted little time to make her way towards the monster common room. She wasn't really sure what the meeting was for, but she was going to show up regardless. It had to be important. Sitting down, she idly looked over one of the things she had snatched away from the lake area, then glanced up as their fearless leader got things started.

"The school's secret stash maybe? That's what I think. I mean, it was hidden away and all. I just wish we could do something about that chalice... it wouldn't budge at all!" she said before letting out a huff. Why the school would bolt something like that down was far beyond her.

There had to be something to it.

Cricket had found herself a nice place to sit next to Red, content to just laze right there after having been carried into the dorms by the werewolf. Red was fabulous and strong like that, after all.

"It's water." Cricket chimed in about the lake - for those who actually knew the ghost ghoul, that opinion was all they'd need. Cricket, while being hygenic, did not exactly like strange bodies of water. She didn't like normal bodies of water either.

One of their first field trips together had been a fine display of the fact that water based minipets would actually try to eat Cricket. She had shied away from them ever since. "That's a lot of treasure that Amityville hasn't tapped into yet. That strikes me as unusual that the school wouldn't use that for funding repairs." She trailed off after a moment, watching what Red was doing to Arel.

Maybe she'd go get some ice just to be safe.

d**k's only detour had been to get a new pair of sunglasses and to dump some shinies off in his room. They were nice, after all. But they were heavy in his pockets, just wouldn't do.

"It's not so secret if someone went in there.." d**k felt inclined to say, "The trail lead right to it, I mean...they didn't even seem to get lost or anything, just BAM. They knew right what they were lookin' for...."

"I think its some creepy as stuff personally." The phoenix said as she sloshed in to the room, still a little wet from her swim. She was holding a ball of fire to keep herself warm, and maybe to even speed the drying process.

"Did you guys hear the voices in the water? They seemed to get...angrier as time went on? They were shrieking by the time i got out of the pool." A pause... as she leapt up on top of her usual perch. Settling in she placed the floating ball in her lap.

Turning towards Cricket she kept her gaze on the ghoul for a moment before nodding, she had a very good point. "I wonder if the school even knows it is there? I don't think it is likely. Did you see how dusty the entrance was? I wonder if its not been used for a really long time."

Ashly hadn't taken any time to stop and find materials to dry herself with, so when she arrived she was still a thoroughly waterlogged, and her feet made odd squelching sounds as she entered the monster common room.

"The voices...I tried to figure out where they were coming from but---" She had to stop there, her raspy voice halting as she began coughing quite violently into her arm, attempting to stifle the sound. Luckily it was only a short fit so she was able to finish her sentence. "There was no discernible source. The sound didn't get any quieter or any louder, no matter where I searched."

That was really all she had to add to the conversation at this point, which was probably good since she began coughing again and had to clamp her hands over her mouth to muffle the noise lest it interrupt the meeting.

Being made of paper was one thing, and wet paper entirely another. Like Red, Callie had taken the time to rush back to her dorm, though not just for the reason of getting dry - she also tucked away her newfound treasures from prying eyes. It wouldn't do her any good to have someone notice she was not a reaper yet had a sword! Since the meeting was held in the monster dorms this time, she wasn't terribly late.

"Wait, there were voices in the water? Were they saying anything?" Callie asked with a raised brow, a small hand towel slung over her shoulder as she entered and leaned against the wall. All the more reason why she didn't want to hang around the strange lake. "Aghhh. Jack, did this have to happen in the middle of graduation?"

Though as annoyed as she sounded, inwardly Callie had been pleased to know she had been called on a quest. And also had a shiny new sword. Now if only she could scrounge for some armor that wouldn't immediately make her crumple . . .

"What I wanna know is how we got there from the library of all places! Why was the entrance restricted if all that was in there was a dank tunnel, a pissy octopus, and a dragon's worth of treasure? Does the school even know about it?" the golem posed, lightly crossing her arms as she added with a grin, "We should probably tell some of the teachers that we kicked calamari a** at the least!"

The poor ghoul by her sounded like she had a frog in her throat. Callie reached over and gave the zombie a light smack on the back to see if that dislodged it.

"Reporting for duty!" Moira proclaimed as she skidded into the common area, settling herself immediately on the floor, sitting cross-legged. "I knew there was something up with that squid-thing!! But we defended it real good, sir Red sir!"

The Crom Cruach was fortunately dry. She'd flitted over the water rather than taken a swim, choosing to examine the unfortunately indecipherable decorations in the room, and give the treasure a little more than a passing glance. But there was something that bothered her about the cave.

"What about finding the place, though? I could have sworn I heard someone... or something... they needed help." Of course it sounded stupid when she said it out loud, but it was too late to take it back.

"I wasn't the only one who felt that right..." Una immediately began to turn a fascinating shade of red at her admittance.

Vel actually didn't know anything about the singing in the lake, having never submerged in it. That was weird though... and some of the others were bringing up some good points too. It was all just really weird altogether.

But then Una said something that caught her attention.

"You heard that too? I thought I was the only one! It... it was when we were in the tunnel still. I couldn't help but feel that someone was calling out for help.. or something like that. There wasn't anyone in that room though. Not unless the tentacle thing was doing that," she said before tapping her chin in thought.

"Yup, heard it too," Callie added with a nod. "Thought it was coming from Dabir trying to kill someone's miced tea - don't ask, it already looked pretty beat up so dissipating it was the best solution - except minipets can't talk." Her brow creased. "You think the octopus was a guard dog for something more than treasure? Maybe someone's stuck down there."

Heroine senses tingling.

While having been in the cave, Kani had stayed clear of the water. Scorpions and lakes did not mix. With that, she was free to flop down on one of the torn, scratched, and lump chairs in the Monster Dorm common room, dusting off some animal hair that was clumped on the armrest.

"Putting a key, a dark tunnel, and a guard means someone had thought of protecting what they wanted to keep to themselves. It wasn't new, that's for sure. If someone made that, everyone would hate noticed, and I don't think the teachers get paid that much to make a stash that impressive. Not unless they are doing something shady." She was no teacher, but she doubted their pay was great. Didn't they get the short end of the stick when paychecks came around?

"The drawings were old too. All worn away and dusty."

Marleth had brought a handful of towels with him, one of them drapped over his bare shoulders as he had lost his duster back at his room and switched to a dry pair of jeans. The rest of the towels remained on his shoulders waiting to be snatched by any student in need.

"S'lota gold, not my kinda thing. Gold doesn't do much fer me. Not one of them red kinda dragons." He shrugged a bit, "As fer the voice, yeah, I heard that too. Sounded nice though... reminded me of home, sounded like my brothers gnawing on some stone digging out a new cave to sleep in..." He glanced up looking away for a moment as if in thought, his true mouth ripplling slightly making a series of deep clicking sounds.

Taru stepped into the room just in time to catch Red's comments on the cave, plopping down into a seat and patting her lap for Bee to jump up onto it. She offered a bit of a shrug, trying to hide the embarrassment she felt over missing out on whatever fighting had taken place there. <********' weird if you ask me," she added helpfully. "Everything was all glowin' and being crazy and I dunno what it was but something down there made us all not right. I'm telling you."

Malcolm had settled in near the start of the meeting, not really having an opinion out of the ones already stated - it could be someone's secret stash, from long ago, or it could be a place that even the teachers had no knowledge of... It could be this, it could be that, but they have no way to know for sure - there were just a lot of assumptions.

So for now, he just listened.
