Each Puella Magi are drawn to an affinity with a certain element whether that's Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Time, Power, Light, or Dark.
Air: You feel light as the wind, in fact, you even control the wind! You can ride the air, blow back enemies, block attacks with an air shield, and many other things as you master the element. Availability: Available to any Puella Magi
Fire: Something burns within your soul that wants to escape, this is your fire affinity. You can shoot fireballs, set things ablaze, and even create things from your fire. Availability: Available to any Puella Magi
Water: You feel soft and soothing as the water. You can throw water balls, heal your allies with soothing water essence, and even breath underwater for a period of time. Availability: Available to any Puella Magi
Earth: You feel most at home sitting and meditating on the earth, oh, and playing in the dirt. You can make forms out of any rock and create powerful rock hard shields to defend your allies. Availability: Available to any Puella Magi
Time: You always felt like you were born in the wrong time... Well worry no more because you have control over the time. You can rewind time as little as 5 seconds and as much as several days as you master this art. Availability: Available to any Puella Magi
Power: You always got the most things done with your fists, none of this elemental stuff for you. Power gives your fists and weapon a stat bonus to do more damage. Availability: Available to any Puella Magi
Light: The holy powers call upon you to bring light to the world and beat out the darkness. You have soothing powers but can also cause strong attacks against opponents. Availability: Only available to Elders and from Breedings
Dark: The light has always hurt your eyes and you felt best lurking in the shadows and causing mischief. For the most part dark attacks lead to destruction, but sometimes they can be helpful. Availability: Only available to Elders and from Breedings
You can not attempt to master a new Element until you've mastered a previous element. Each element has 10 levels of mastery. Every time your Puella Magi levels up it learns a new skill.
Feel free to make up and name your own attacks but keep them in theme with the element you've chosen and the stats on that attack.
For example, a level 5 time power is a medium shield so the power could be called Time Skipper - Yoku jumps ahead in time 5 seconds blocking 20 damage for herself and another ally.
Versus
A level 5 water power is a medium shield so the power could be called Ice Block - Yoku throws up an Ice Block shield protecting herself and an ally for 20 damage on the next turn.
Its okay if power names are repeated, but don't just copy someone else's power names.
Rolling:
This is further explained in the battle system area, but to give you a general idea.
For every attack, unless otherwise listed, you'll roll a d10 to do a success check. If you get:
1 = Epic Failure and you actually take damage - 5 HP and the spell doesn't work. 5 - = Failure and your spell misses. 5 + = Success and your spell works. 10 = Epic Success and your spell has double the effect intended!
