Midnight. The clock-tower chimed as Niamh strode past it, her head down, silver-white thick curl of hair tucked under the black Capuchin she wore. As she moved through the dark, she slowed to approach the fountain in the courtyard that lay between her and her destination for the next hour or so. Sometimes, longer, if she fell asleep amidst the plants. It was faintly too cold for that now, however, and Niamh compared the chill to her own starlight ability absently.

The garden was not private, though Niamh knew some of the individuals who personally cultivated... certain dubious plants within its confines. The garden itself took up about the space that a ground floor of a home might, and it was not tucked away but rather led to a row of shops. Passing right through it meant taking a sweet little trail between blossoming fruit trees and rows of neatly trimmed shrubs. However, if one went slightly out of the way, there were small pockets of green space and some creepier plants. Those were the plants that Niamh needed. Well, not all were creepy-- tonight she merely needed some choking Ivy and some Love-Lies-Bleeding, which were cute pink flowers. These were relatively harmless ingredients, so she wouldn't have to hide as often as she usually did.

Niamh paused at the fountain in the courtyard, looking down into the water. She slid her hood off and let the moonlight illuminate her enough to see her face. There, on her forehead: the markings that developed in childhood. Niamh's face contorted into a hint of a grimace, and she pushed her hood back up over her hair. Picking up speed, Niamh left the courtyard behind and walked straight into the garden, headed into one of the side-groves past a flowering tree. She paused suddenly, however: was that... someone else, nearby?

”Might I ask if anyone is out there?" Niamh inquired, her voice soft. Lime appeared to be, for once, silent. For now. Maybe he was asleep. ... Did spirits sewn to her living flesh even need to sleep?...

Kailash enjoyed the night air more than he did the air during the daylight hours, specifically because it seemed cool and soothing. He was finishing his rounds, his pace languid as he reached an infrequently traversed garden, one of his gauntlet-covered hands reaching out to brush over the bark of a tree. It was an elegant work of vegetation, its branches stretching high towards the sky, fanning out wide, looking free and joyous in the space it was contained.

Humming softly to himself he continued to walk, moving more towards the fountain, until he paused, hearing a soft female voice. Frowning thoughtfully he approached the source of the voice, rounding a row of tall plants, before canting his head to the side upon finding the source of the voice. She seemed young, perhaps even barely out of the Academy, though he had been known to be incorrect when guessing ages from time to time. His black tail, the tuft of fur at the end a snowy white flicked as he took her in before he finally spoke.

"Did I startle you? My apologies. However it is good to keep one's wits about them." he mused, a ghost of a smile curving his lips; many considered him just as cold as the elements he manipulated. "It is very late. Do you make a habit of venturing about in the nocturnal hours, much like an owl?"

There was always a hidden meaning in his words, concealed implications that most quickly gloss over and laugh over. However he was not smiling but watching her with wariness, his blue eyes as cool as the sapphires that they resembled. Kailash was never outwardly hostile, nor was he ever completely friendly, settling instead in a calm neutral, never really thinking the best or the worst of anyone.

The night was definitely far more Niamh's element than the day time. As one of the Von Rohr "bone twins," it made sense that the night was her veil, because the day exposed far too much best laid to rest about the Von Rohrs and their estate. At least, before she had killed her parents, Niamh had learned the value of manners and elegance in order to best hide what the daylight still illuminated despite her best efforts. After all, she had to surface occasionally during the day. Thankfully, it was not the time for that in the past week or so. She swept aside a loose strand of hair and slipped her hand over to the waist of her shorts, sliding her thumb across the silver blade handle that protruded. It was not for fighting; it was a short, small blade for ritual, casting and gathering ingredients.

Tonight, these plants. She thought, at first, she had been wrong, and had returned to her work: slitting the stem of a few Love-Lies-Bleeding blooms before she definitely heard someone's voice. Startled, she dropped her blade, heart pounding, slicing her thumb open. Niamh didn't make any sound in pain, despite the fact that blood was now dripping down her hand-- it was hardly enough of a wound to care. Niamh merely pressed her free hand to the spot to stem the blood. ”You certainly did startle me, I did not expect to find ... anyone... out here so late," Niamh began, and then looked him up and down. If the man she'd met before was darkness incarnate, this man seemed to be moonlight. He had a strange speaking pattern that--

Hey baby...! Niamh, honey, all these knights in shining armour around lately, it's like shooting fish in a barrel-- aren't you gonna step up to this? I want to bag us a knight! And it seemed like Lime was awake, great. Niamh tried very hard to keep a straight face, but the corner of her mouth did quirk up, despite her best efforts. She covered her mouth with her elbow and pretended to cough, to hide her laughter.

Niamh curtsied to the stranger, as soon as she was calm enough not to laugh. She was not ever particularly friendly, but she could be polite. At least this time, she had fairly little to lose. She was just holding a handful of blossoms-- well, she had been. Most of them seemed to have been scattered as she'd dropped her knife. ”No owl, but I am Niamh Von Rohr, and I do often emerge this late. I find it... peaceful. No interuptions. Except for lately," she admitted.

”Why, are you hunting owls?"
