Armor • T y p e s

___G e n e r a l ○ I n f o r m a t i o n
Armor was a protective covering worn mainly by militants. Most armor would stop a standard blaster bolt, although only advanced, heavy battle armor could withstand a heavy cannon bolt. Specialized weapons called disrupters could punch through most armor.

Armor was generally divided into three classes: light armor, medium armor, and heavy armor. Light armor usually came in the form of woven cloth or think plastics. Medium armor, by far the most common, was made up of small ceramic or metal plates. Heavy armor was designed for front-line combat, and is usually fully enclosed.

Most cultures and races used armor for forms of armed conflict. Some armor was implanted with cortosis and other lightsaber resistant material to combat the Jedi and Sith in the galaxy. Armor was usually much more restrictive than regular clothing.

Standard Katarn Mark VI armor: V1
"Cannon foder..."

Katarn armor was a variant of Phase II clone trooper armor that, unlike most Phase II armor sets, enjoyed wide use well into the Galactic Civil War. It shared the name Katarn with another type of armor, Katarn-class commando armor, which it was probably named after, to gain some of the kudos associated with elite commando armor.

ARC armor:V2
"ARCs, not team players."

ARC Trooper armor was lighter and offered more protection than standard clone trooper armor, but was weaker than Katarn-class commando armor. The armor could be fitted with specialized attachments, such as a jetpack, rocket dart launchers, miniature flamethrowers, and a rangefinder as well as other attachments. ARC trooper armor also included additional pouches and holders for grenades, land mines, blaster ammunition, med kits, and even extra rations. Newer versions of the armor also include pauldrons which have extra chestplates, and a life support pack was usually worn on the back. ARC trooper armor was usually worn with a blast dampening kama and rank signifying pauldron.

Katarn Class Commando Armor(mark 4 armor):V5
"The Shiny Boys"

Katarn-class commando armor was armor used by Republic commandos. It was named after the predatory animal from Kashyyyk. It weighed 20 kilograms and could cost up to 100,000 credits on the black market. This armor was more expensive and provided better protection than standard clone armor, due to the special composition and novel chemical properties of its armor plates, along with the inclusion of deflector shields. It was also designed for easy bacta injection via handheld dispensers. Katarn Armor was often highly customized by the commandos who wore it.

Jedi Armor: V4
"It feels...heavy."

During times of great conflict, Jedi would sometimes require the use of battle armor. Armor-clad Jedi were a common sight on the battlefields of the New Sith Wars, while the ancient Jedi of the era of the Old Sith Wars would often wear parts of armor to protect certain areas of their bodies, as would many Jedi of the New Sith Wars era. Shoulder guards were especially common among the ranks of the ancient Jedi.
Jedi armor was designed to be light and comfortable, giving the wearer as much freedom of movement as possible. However, the freedoms provided by Jedi armor were very limited compared to those provided by traditional Jedi robes. In the ancient wars between the Jedi and the Sith, the battlefields were often so packed with combatants that moving about freely on the battlefield would be difficult even without armor. This would result in immobile and poorly protected combatants, which may be why the Jedi of those eras chose to prioritise armor to mobility.
Finding particular use in the Army of Light under Lord Hoth during the New Sith Wars, Jedi armor was designed to be comfortable for the wearer, light and give the wearer the ability to use the Force as much as possible.

Sith trooper armor:V3
"Who designed those Sith uniforms? A blind Rodian with a sick sense of humor?"

Similar in design and use to Arc Armor, the Sith Trooper Armor was instead in Sith colors. This armor was however more customizeable than Arc armor and offered a bit more protection, giving tribute to the amount of time the Sith were given to prepare for this war.

Nlz5-11 Dragon: V2
"It's a vicious, monstrous beast with huge fangs and large claws."

NLZ5-11 Dragon was a rare medium class powersuit model manufactured by SoroSuub. It provided protection for the head, torso, arms and legs against kinetic and energy attacks. The armor was originally designed for use by SoroSuub and Sullustan security forces and was well suited to dealing with large groups of poorly armed individuals and vehicles. The prototype suit and all plans disappeared around the time that SoroSuub allied themselves with the Galactic Empire. A few decades after the formation of the New Galactic Republic these prototyple plans were rediscovered and perfected.

Juggernaut 510 combat power armor V4
"You're a soldier, not a civie! Have some juice and suck it up!"

The Juggernaut 510 Combat Power Armor was a rare assault powersuit manufactured by Cozzell Corporation. Juggernaut armors were developed for use with mercenary and militia forces for heavy firepower infantry support. While effective, the Juggernaut armor was also very expensive to produce, the suit was bulky and slow, and it had a set of insufficiently armored power transfer routing conduits on the back, which, when targeted by blaster fire, could knock out power to weapons integrated into the suit. It also enhanced the wearer's strength

Jx8-Gladiator: V3
"People say killing Jedi is hard. It's not, you just have to be smart about it. No blasters, no getting close to them, no attacking them directly when you can gun down their allies instead."

JX8 Gladiator was a type of personal battle armor that was produced by Min-Dal. The battle armor was resistant towards kinetic and energy attacks and the armor provided protection primarily to the torso, arms, and head. The helmet was slightly reminiscent of that of a Mandalorian armor. With the sudden popularity of ultra-thin Beskar skin and rumors of Sith, the original armor JX4 Gladiator has been upgraded to combat these rumors. With a new ultra thin Beskar Skin, the JX8 has become the favorite of Jedi and Sith hunters and has become one of the most expensive armors on the market.
