There wasn't much to be said about the past few days, most of the tension between the two sisters had been aired and now was slowly reseeding out of the relationship entirely. Many things had been discussed, about feelings and worries and Damu's previous outlook on their lives. Most if not all had been eased out and things were starting to look up. Of course, the dark pelted sister still had her doubts about their current living situation, but she was hard-pressed not to enjoy the company. Her sister especially seemed to bring a smile to her maw.
Asali had already done the hunting for the day, a young buffalo brought down out of sheer luck and the help of her sister. They had eaten well that morning, and her belly was still full from the tender meat. Off in the shade of the tree she spied her sister and rumbled a peaceful greeting, the purr reverberating in her chest and making her feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. It was noise she was still new to making, as their previous life had all but forbid it. "When is this heat going to end! Scootch over sister, there's room for you, me, and probably a whole herd of antelope under there", she joked, walking over to flop next to her dark sister. A friendly butt of her head and Asali was more than ready to enjoy the rest of the day.
Damu rolled her eyes, but rolled over to make room for her sister. "If we could fit a whole herd of antelope under here you wouldn't have to go hunting all the time", she laughed, nipping at the lighter lioness' ear. Asali didn't seem to mind the constant chore, but Damu wasn't always in the mood to help. Sometimes she worried about Asali going off by herself, but so far her sister seemed readily able to accomplish any sort of task. In fact, she half expected Asali loved it!

It had been odd for the large male over the last few days. While he had almost had several females in general staying with him at any given time, the twins are the ones that had probably stayed with him the longest out of them all. Truthfully, he always slightly expected them to up and leave one of these days. That'd he'd wake up and they'd just be gone and he'd be back by himself. Over time he had had Kujali and Moeras staying with him and a few others whose names he had never actually gotten. The company was always welcomed and the longer Asali and Damu stayed under his protection, the more he hoped the pair would make it a permanent residence.
His large paws carried him through the dry, golden grass and back towards his home. Durin had been out and about, scouting as he usually did at least twice a day. There had been an influx in rogue activity in the area and there was no way he would put the two females living with him at the time in danger in any way if he could help it. A long, tired sigh escaped his maw as he tossed a glare up towards the sun that was already so high in the sky. Each day seemed as if it was getting hotter and hotter. Would this hot streak never break with a bit of rain or at least shade?

Asali rolled her broad shoulders in a light shrug, the corners of her mouth twitching in a small smile. In truth, she did enjoy hunting. Damu might have thought it a chore, but it was a privilege and a luxury they had not been allowed otherwise... if... well, if things hadn't turned out the way they did. If they hadn't escaped that monstrous pride that kept them as mere toys to throw around, she was certain they would have died. If Durin hadn't come along to offer his protection- she didn't want to think about that. Thus far they'd had no trouble with strangers, especially not males, and to be honest Asali was comforted by this. It was a quiet life that they led, quiet and simple, and she couldn't possibly ask for more.
Asali was quiet. It made Damu wonder what she was thinking about, but she had to feel some comfort in her sister's expression. Her smile was beautiful. They had never smiled before, not since joining Durin under his tree. If the big oaf was good at something, it was making her sister happy, and that in turn reassured Damu. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all.
Speaking of the dolt, Damu spied the brown male starring off into space not far from where they rested, and a flicker of mischief reached her eyes. Without speaking a word of Asali the dark lioness dropped to a crouch, her tail flicking out behind her with every stealthy pace she took forward. When she was close enough to make a break for it the smaller of twins sprinted forward, "Gotcha, you big lug!" she barked out in victorious laughter, paws outstretched to wrap around his thick neck. Of course, there was no way she was going to be able to tackle him, Damu by all accounts was quite the small lioness, especially when in comparison to Durin.
Asali eyed her sister curiously as she began to stalk away, but all confusion left her as she glanced over her shoulder to notice a distracted Durin. The large, pale sister couldn't help but smirk. Hadn't Damu learned her lesson already? Asali was always able to best her sister in their wrestling games, there was no way she was going to be able to take on Durin by her self. With slow, purposeful movements Asali moved forward as well, the same mischief sparking her eyes as well as an impish confidence in her stride. "Watch it Durin, she's determined this time," she purred. It might have been sweet sounding, but the toothy smirk that stretched over her maw belied her intentions. This was a tag-team affair, after all.

The distraction had gotten the better of him and had not even noticed the smaller lioness charging directly towards him until she had actually yelled out to him. Durin's head head turned just in time to see her close the space between them and put her paws around his neck. Just the fact he had not been expecting had and had little time to actually prepare himself had given Damu a bit of an advantage that was shown in the wobbling that the large male did with the sudden added weight on him. "Hello to you too." He called back, his hearty laughter interrupting his own words.
It had never been quite this lively, especially during the hot days that always came. It was nice. The last thing he wanted was the three of them lazing around all day and them all starving, something that surely would have happened if he had chosen older lionesses. Though the thought of moving them both had occurred to him and it was a very real possibility if the herds ever stopped coming close enough to them. Durin blinked, slightly confused on why there was only one of them on him, looking from the brown lioness wrapped over him. "So, where's your sister, Damu?"

Success! Damu chomped down on the big guy's fluffy mane, nipped at it continually until she slid off the side of him and came to rest near his large head, tail flicking in anticipation. His question begot a toothy grin from the dark pelted twin, the smile reaching her olive eyes. "Oh? She was by the tree last I saw her," she offered, throwing a look back to their shady acacia tree. She didn't know if Durin would see through this ploy or not, but it was satisfying all the same. In fact, the darker of the lionesses did so much as to bump his chin with the top of her head before casually, she hoped it looked casual, walking back towards the shade. After all, she didn't want to stick around when Asali made her 'attack', she might bring Damu down with her!
Asali's ears perked as Durin asked where she was, and that mischievous smirk spread into a something much more wicked and smug. The pale golden lioness dropped to a crouch, allowing her lightly colored body to blend with the tall, dry grass. She did enjoy hunting games, and Durin seemed like quite the catch! Her lithe, leanly muscular body slunk through the tall grass, bending and swaying like the smooth hunter she was. Her eyes briefly caught Damu's as she moved past her twin to the side of Durin where the dark sister hung off of, the perfect blind spot. Asali had not missed the wobbling of their male protector, and the closer she got the more her tail twitched out of excitement, despite her efforts to quell the movement it continued. She couldn't help the "Ah-ha!" that erupted from her maw as she rose to leap at him, claws safely tucked away. Unlike her sister, Asali was a well sized lioness, strong and agile in body, with broad shoulders and fine, lean muscles. Young the sister's may be, and many scars their pelt hid from view, but having been allowed to grow and flourish proved them to be every bit the lioness they should be.
