After Vegas Rep had been severely hung over. But it hadn't mattered. The worst headache of his life couldn't eradicate the buzz that had lingered, the sense of stability. He didn't think it would last forever, he wasn't that optimistic, doubts and fears always slunk in to gnaw on his happiness.
But for the moment, he was content.
He'd even felt good enough to go for a walk around the less contaminated areas outside the life labs, over to watch a spar or two by the training fields. He even stopped to grab a snack from the vending machines with the money he'd won before finally heading to the cafeteria in the main building to snack.
And that was where he ended up, chocolate bar in hand and with a mug of hot chocolate - proper non military issue hot chocolate - steaming gently on the table beside him. It was the first good day in a while.

All except for the scathing glare his presence warranted out of the woman nearby who had been unwinding on her own time. Rin raised the straw of her drink to her lips and gave a loud annoyed slurp while that glare refused to ease, refused to forgive.
How dare he interrupt her late night meal with his presence. No one said he could come home, okay?

Rep was just beginning to enjoy his evening when he became aware of that niggling feeling of being watched. It wouldn't go away and he eventually conceded to look around to see who the hell else was in the room. Mostly hunters he didn't recognise.
And then he spotted Rin. Pft. What was she glaring at anyway?
"Want a ******** picture? It'll last longer."

Rin's glare narrowed before she shouted loudly in reply, "If I wanted a picture of a d**k this room is full of far more impressive ones!"
Various other patrons promptly turned to watch what was going on and who she was talking to. The smug look she gave him now was almost tangible.

He blinked.
Well, that was unexpected. Last he checked she didn't snap quite so readily.
Setting the look of shock neatly aside, he resumed his lazy smirk. Okay so she wanted to play that game then, he was equally armed. He gave her a very even cold look, careful not to give her a hint how much the comment had stung, banking on her not catching it in his look of shock beforehand.
"Well." he leaned his chin on his hand. "Amazing how I was the one you picked. And you weren't complaining one ******** bit then."
He took a sip of his hot chocolate. "And are you going to keep yelling across a room like a crazy tart, or are you going to come over here and talk like a ******** human being?"

Rin wasn't going to miss that look. Nor was she going to move. She was here first. He was going to move his own a**.
Suddenly, he was uninteresting.
She buried the side of her fork slowly into her piece of cake and turned to the person sitting next to her, "You believe this guy? One pity ******** and suddenly he thinks he's King Kong."
She made sure her voice was loud enough for not just Rep to hear but several others who suddenly seemed quite a bit more interested.

He blinked again and this time quirked a brow.
What a b***h.
He could hardly believe what he was watching and felt for a moment like a lion that just found itself being hunted by a zebra. With more bemusement than anything else he laughed.
"Are you shitting me? I'm not the one who needed a pity ********, you were the ******** virgin who was all lonely and desperate and gagging for it. Stop acting cocky. " he took another sip of his hot chocolate before getting up from his chair.
"If you want to talk to me, I'll be somewhere more ******** quiet than here."
And mug in hand he strode out of the cafeteria, no way was he having half the ******** facility hear about his sex life because Rin was bitter.

Rin let him go, not even bothering to look his way as he left. Simply resumed her cake eating until nothing of it was left and her juice sipped bone dry.
It was then she finally looked to be certain he was still gone. She smirked contentedly to herself.
I win.
Then she finally stood to put her dishes away and leave the cafeteria. Not that she was looking for him or anything.

Rep didn't come back to the cafeteria. Her comments niggled at him quite a bit after leaving but his good mood carried him over, he was fairly hard to upset so soon after Vegas. Besides, he told himself, he blew off her insults no problem, she couldn't insult his size when she had no point of comparison and he made that clear to everyone around.
He didn't go back to the bunker though. He'd learned to hate it down there so sat instead outside the cafeteria in the corridor. The chair was probably intended for the use of people waiting to be ushered into the offices, but he didn't care.
He wasn't even sure if he was waiting or just passing the time. Did it matter? What could he even say to her? He wasn't sure what the massive ******** problem even was. It was like, maybe she was PMSing or some other stupid woman bullshit.

She wandered down the hallway. Fairly ignorant to his presence at first, until she got closer and gave him an idle glare, "What, in trouble again already?"

He returned her glare with a lot more venom, frowning. "Nope. Sorry to disappoint you. I've been a really good boy."
A slight tilt of the head. "So what's your problem exactly?"

"You?" she tossed her head back to cackle unashamedly, "You couldn't be good if your life depended on it. Which it does."
She felt a bit compelled to remind him where he stood time and time again.
His head-tilt was met by gritted teeth, "The ******** do you THINK this is about you a*****e."

Just a twinge of dread seized him at the reminder that he still stood on very thin ice regarding his behaviour and that anger in him rose just a bit higher. It was a ******** low blow to bring that up however incidentally and fleetingly when she knew how much it bothered him and had done for a while.
He had a vague idea the problem had something to do with Sasha but wasn't even clear on that. He settled for being a smartass instead.
"I dunno, you are on the rag?" he grinned toothily.

Rin lashed out, biting her bottom lip with fury as she burst forth tho crack him across the face with her open hand.
How dare he go there?! How. Dare. He.
Her eyes burned like searing hot coals down at him. All she felt right now was hatred. A fury that was tangible on her tongue as she hissed her dissatisfaction.

Rep flinched as her hand connected and hard, holding the position the strike knocked him into, looking away from her, a smirk curling onto his features, even as the spot where he was slapped slowly flushed red.
And then he laughed. Good. At least she was angry.
"I'll take that as a yes?"
