BACKREADING TO BACKREAD FROM THIS THREAD, read pages 1, and 34 for PLOT RELATED Gm posts Setup for the festival had started off with a bang. Some of the more hardy undead, ghosts, and even some demons and monsters had forfeited rest and sleep to simply prepare ahead of time for the Jack-o-Lantern festival. Not a single expense was spared, no fake (one-hundred-per-cent genuinely fake!) pumpkins, no lanterns, tent canvas, curling ribbons, spooky supplies, skeletal bones, cobwebs, everything had been accounted and prepared for.
In fact, when the procrastinating sort of graduates headed down to the front of Amityville's gates that particular morning, all they would see were layers and layers of bright lights and perfectly carved (one-hundred-per-cent genuinely fake) pumpkins. Everything had already been prepared, painstakingly so. The only thing that looked oddly empty were the rows of long flat tables covered in simple white cloth. Those were for each of the graduating students, a table to display to the rest of Halloween what they had learned in Amityville, from photos of their work in Yearbook Club, to brochures they had collected from humans in the Human World, to even an array of arts and crafts, each of them showcasing a trade. Some were already setting up their personal booths already, pulling out volumes of texts of their work, others trophies of their accomplishments in Fear battling tournaments: there were students and items littered everywhere. It was going to be interesting to clean up afterwards, especially considering that there were exactly three days of the Jack-o-Lantern festival, but for now, there was work to do. The booths would be open soon for all of Halloween to come visit, with very little time to prepare!
And through the noise and colours, the unpacking and unraveling of supplies and papers, shapes, voices, props, stands- a loud clang suddenly resonated throughout the area-
- It was time.
The gates of Amityville swung wide open to allow room for its guests. OOC JACK O LANTERN FESTIVAL, DAY 1:- You see some graduates quickly scoot their remaining supplies under their covered tables, and you quickly do the same to yours. You are a little nervous, after all the work in Amityville, was it really enough to get where you want to be? You see some uniformed Halloween citizens walk in, Bogeymen standing tall, the clinical look of several professional doctors followed by odds and ends: owners of small apothecaries, purveyors of exotic minipets, and even - - Well, surely there was someone who aspired to be a janitor somewhere, right? The most important thing is to catch the attention of anyone interested! You need to make your booth stand out and appeal to the others! gaia_crown [ OOC: DECORATING YOUR BOOTH ] You can either ICly or OOCly (or both) decorate your disposable's booth through RP (descriptions or even an image). It is a small rectangular table, but your student can put on it however many displays, images, or even small objects as they want on it to showcase who they personally are. A common theme throughout all the booths seems to be strange coloured badges, unique to each booth. Why... they look familiar.... gaia_crown [ OOC: ADVERTISING FOR YOUR BOOTH (DO THIS FIRST BEFORE INTERACTING WITH OTHER BOOTHS) ] The place is PACKED. Even though you are wearing your Jack-o-lantern mask (more like a helmet really), you still need to showcase who you are and grab as much attention as possible! This even goes for people opening their own business as you would need customers first and foremost. STEP 1: Have interesting things on your booth relevant to you! - Roll one 10-sided dice, and rp out the result. On a scale of 1- 10: 1 = Your booth needs some work... its really starting to slip, you really should have that looked at 10 = Your booth is looking absolutely perfect, almost too much so. How much time did you spend on this again? STEP 2: Attract the attention of some people with your charms and good looks! - Roll one 8-sided dice and rp out the result. on a scale of 1-8: 1= You.... did you even bother looking in any sort of cracked mirror today. What happened? Got in a fight with your better twin? People are avoiding you simply because of how abysmal you look. 8 = You look positively charming, and a few people passing by are impressed with how absolutely professional you look, despite what you say. Hopefully you can keep them interested! STEP 3: Keep those looking at your booth interested! - Roll one 6-sided dice and rp out the result. On a scale of 1-6 1 = They seem interested, but the more you talk the more people drift off. Was it the fumes you wore today? 6= More and more people seem to crowd around your booth as you talk. Maybe you are doing the right thing after all! gaia_crown [ OOC: TALLY UP YOUR RESULTS ] Phew! After so much advertising and traffic, you are beginning to wear yourself out! After rolling for the advertising part of the booth, your disposable can take a small break and go and mingle with other character's booths. They can ONLY DO SO after completing the three rolls otherwise they will still need to roll/ write their advertising posts. - Tally your three rolls from above: - If you scored 1 - 10: You got a few people interested... maybe someone will contact you - 11 - 18: You're pretty good at this! A lot of people have given you their cards - 19 - 24: You are just swimming in brochures, pamphlets and cards. Aren't you the lucky one! - You CANNOT mingle with a person who is still advertising their booth, that would be bad for them right, and you have a bit more respect than that. However anyone else who has completed their advertising section can be rped with. MAKE SURE YOU QUOTE EVERYONE YOU ARE TALKING TO.

It was an exciting day to say in the very least. Aside from graduation being right around the corner, this was THE day to try and stand out over the rest. Vel was determined to get enlisted by the Boogeys. But first and foremost... she needed to get her booth set up. Aside from her name, she set up the badge of Defenders' emblem up at the top. She also had a little personal logo of a raptor pouncing. Because why the hell not? Resumes were printed out and ready to be handed to interested parties. She also had a little boombox playing music to also try and help attract those to her stand. Humming along to the tune, she fixed up a few other things, over all making her booth pretty damn nice. Dusting her claws off, she seemed pretty set on what she had here. Yep.

Manny was not the artistic sort, as much as he could appreciate beauty and other people's sense of design, his own left much to be desired. But rather than letting this upset him, he simply shrugged as he donned his helmet. Besides, the fewer people who knew of his involvement, the better.

Was he excited? ******** yes he was. He was going to make some awesome stone s**t and everybody was going to see how awesome of a skill that actually was to have.
No really, it was an awesome skill. It might not have seemed like much, given it was d**k behind it, but it probably would have been quite the sight to see him as he approached his table with several potted plants, setting them around it and carefully coaxing the vines up and around the table to form a rather nice display of greenery.
He curled various things into the vines - things that looked disgustingly heavy and sturdy as he began to build up, forming a small booth made of plants. It wasn't fancy by any means, but after he'd spent a few minutes to breathe it down to petrify, it was sturdy as hell. He even had a rather tough looking hammer with him that he set outside of it before he crawled in to take a seat with several brochures and cards that had been sent to him by his dad.
Overall, this had NOT been his idea. Someone else had been his brains - but he'd executed his presentation rather well. The only touch added by himself was a strange red looking device he made a point to center in the coils of a vine before petrifying the whole thing.

The Reaper wasn't making any excuses for himself or his appearance, though he did try his best to clean himself up and be presentable. But he'd gotten too used to being looked over or passed over and it showed in his mannerism. Still, he did manage to turn some heads to his booth's general direction.

Arcana looked around the festival set up, the empty booths littering the grounds with supplies set around them. He was dressed in his families traditional fortune telling garb along with his sister as they chose a table.
Their skills both differented in healing, to forsight to shielding but...the vision was their main skill. Whether it vague or not, Arcana and Tarot were practiced in their namesake and thus had decided to build their booth together.
"Tarot..." Arcana looked nervously around as he laid a table cloth over the table, watching any strange passerby's. His personal seeing orb and tarot deck rested to the side. "I...I don't think I can talk to all these people that are coming." He frowned, adding a small spell of handing starlights around their booth, lighting it. It wasn't perfect but...his side looked pretty good. He laid the orb down in the center with the deck of cards surrounding.
"I don't think I'll perform well!" he flushed, looking around as his friends and companions set up their tables as well. He added one last thing to his side though, the green emblem of the DETH members.

It was finally the Jack o Lantern Festival. The set up was amazing. The reaper smiled as she looked at all of the decorations hanging around the area. Robes swishing, an excited Tarot happily walked between the rows upon rows of plain tables as she searched for theirs. She did a single twirl before turning toward her twin. They were going to have a booth together. It wasn’t everyday students decided to have joint booths, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
She gave Arcana a reassuring smile as she joined him in setting up the booth. Her hands smoothed out the wrinkles in the cloth. “Don’t worry about it. You’ll be amazing, okay?” she assured him in a gentle voice. The bangles around her wrist jangled softly as she took out her own deck of cards and idly shuffled them. “If you ever need help I’m right here with you,” added Tarot, slipping another DETH badge to her own side of the table.

Selene was not excited about this day.
She was terrified.
The egyptian cobra ghoul was actually very proud of her achievements at Amityville. She was! What she was not looking forward to, however, was trying to make a booth to showcase those accomplishments - because there was nothing to show for it. She was a studious learner, and she had read, and memorized, more information than any student she'd ever met. She felt like she was bursting with knowledge, ready to take on the world with any challenge it met her with.
But how was she supposed to put that down on paper?!
So Selene's poor booth was filled with term papers that she had written throughout the years, chock full of interesting information - but not very fun to look at.
That, coupled with just how absolutely crippling her shyness was, would make this entire day be a nightmare for her.
And not the good kind.
She put out some spookies that she had baked, burnt juuust slightly at the edges, in the middle of her boring booth, and sat down in the chair that was too small for her. Only half of her head peeked out from over the edge of the booth.
And that was just how she liked it.

May was SO excited. Others may have been worrying about gathering customers or gathering interest, but not May. She was here to TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THE ISSUES and GET PEOPLE INFORMED.
For you see there was a horrible crisis going on right now in the Weeping Woods and not a SOUL was out there talking about it.
Not a soul except Mayapple Spoiker.
She had her arsenal of plants and signs ready, as well as a plethora of small pamphlets that read things like "SAVE THE WEEPING WOODS" and "STOP POLLUTION" and "HELLMA CAUGHT DUMPING CONTAMINANTS? EGAD!!" Who cared if she'd get kicked out of school for that last one. She was saving the world.
So what if her booth wasn't all that razzle dazzle? So what if she didn't have a bunch of free swag for everyone to plaster their faces with. She had the issues and that was what mattered!
She also had free stickers and friendship bracelets for anyone who asked. OuO
Carafe was busy slithering over to poor Selene who was apparently freaking out. The boa constrictor was worried for his poor snake friend, and was letting out comforting little hisses. She even got him to talk once or twice with little "It's okay Ssselene~" May on the other hand was having too much fun setting up her booth to care.

Now that the booth was over, Vel wanted to make sure she was at the top of her own game. People weren't going to come over if she looked like a complete mess. And not in the good way. Her hair was tied up neatly at the side of her head to form a sideways ponytail, held together by a crunchy. She had a few feathers sticking out of her hair as well.
Her teeth were nice and sharpened, and her claws were too!
The raptor's confidence remained strong as she stood there boldly, trying to look fierce and competent. She was doing pretty good as far as she could tell.

Unfortunately, d**k was not a charming individual.
However, he'd taken extra care to wear his least-douche-y shades, slick his hair back, and worn his best (actually laundered for a change) outfit. Hell, he even had clean underwear on. He was so and totally set!
All he had to do was smile, offer people cards, and remember the family motto: "If Nature can build it, we can build on it"
That was all he had to do. His mother had made sure over the phone that he knew that. And he did. She even instructed him to pull out the hammer once or twice and give it a good swing into his booth - as expected, some minor chips would appear, but not enough to cause long lasting damage. It would have taken hours to pass through his structure, after all.
He wasn't making a complete a** of himself, either!

And Manny was more than relieved his shift was over. He doubted anyone would remember him or what he said, and it probably meant he was a failure. Still, he'd done his part, no one could blame him for not succeeding at something he admitted he wasn't any good at. Well there would be blame, because there were people who were just asses about that. Besides, his family had already told him he had somewhere to go after graduation. At least he had that secure. For now, Manny refused to fall into a bad mood and opted to see what the other students had in store.

And now there were some people coming on by. Excellent. Vel would have hated to have to wait long to get some interested parties to approach. She was too good to be dismissed. Oh and she didn't just get a handful, but she managed to gather a small crowd at her booth.
All in all, she did very well in selling herself, or so to speak. The raptor received numerous business cards and pamphlets. She was so going to get a job once she was out of the school. And probably at the local Boogey department too! The raptor let out a happy sigh. The future was looking pretty great right about now.
Setting aside her gatherings, she glanced towards the nearby booths. Vel would have to visit her friends soon too, once the crowd around her died down a bit.
((Final score: 20))

Alright, he had to actually like...talk to people now.
Talking. Using words.
d**k was not very good at the use of the big fancy official words, but it seemed to not mind some people who were at least holding onto the impression left by the hammer into his booth.
It was when people started asking questions that were highly specific he was kind of getting to the point of flubbing around a bit, unfortunately. He didn't know what to do with X type of tree doing Y problem or whatever it was!!
TOTAL: 17 - He did pretty good!

To say the least, Skylar was excited for the festival. He had been eagerly awaiting this day since he learned that he was graduating. So the moment they had been dismissed from class, what had he done? He went down to the festival grounds to work on his table of course! Finding whatever he could that might impress those who were looking into hiring some newly graduated students of course. He had to think about his future after all!
By the time he was done, it was like he had a miniature shrine to himself.
It was beautiful!
Table gets 7 beauty points!
