I've been a band geek for nearly 20 years and I've seen some crazy things at the parades. Been part of some of the crazy things at parades.
I have never seen marching violins... until tonight. I am looking for a link to this as proof.
Has anyone ever been in a marching band with violins or been a violin player in a marching band?

I have not, but my friend thinks that a marching orchestra should exist. She plays the violin.

I think that sounds cool, probably because I play the violin.
I love the idea of a marching orchestra, but how would celli and basses get around? Some sort of mechanism involving skateboards is running through my head at the moment...

I'm a saxophone player, so I do participate in marching band.
A marching violin is confounding. eek That woul be interesting to see, though... I can't wait to see the link you are talking about! I like the sound of violins.

Harley91594 how would celli and basses get around? I asked my friend the same thing. I can't remember her answer, but the skateboard wasn't far off from what she suggested. I think she also said that they could carry the instruments and play them at the same time.

Marching Violins would be pretty sweet. I had a girl playing violin last year during "Home On the Range" as a solo, but she wasn't marching.
