She knew one thing about her. She was Mengyao’s friend. Meaning, she had have been like Lan, insane. No one willingly enjoyed the snark and sass from the horseman. Not unless they could dish out their own retorts back. And could deal with him and his fan and attitude and his smug face. His smug face was nearly always there.

So, without really having any intention aside from simply meting her, Lan set out to find the one known as Lifen. She was apparently an artisan by trade so, she had started out where most of the artisans and craftsmen and women were. Sadly this proved a rather fruitless endeavor, as she was unable to find her. Apparently she had missed her, but not by long. Reluctantly, Lan went over to the area where they came and went from the main ‘camp’. With luck, she’d find this Lifen sooner or later.

It was safe to say that Lifen was always busy - if it wasn't assisting with capturing alpacas, finding water or just generally assisting in rebuilding things such as stories and traditions as an Artisan. Couple with the fact that even after all the assistance Medea had offered, she still heard the mumbles She was starting to wear out, but she wouldn't show anyone - it was her own little secret.

Fanning herself lightly with a fan she had saved from the mainland, her eyes caught sight of a gaggle of fabric and a shock of blonde hair that she only knew as Mengyao's other childhood friend - Lan, she believed it was. Watching her for a moment from her spot, it almost looked like the noble-woman was searching for something.

Clearing her throat lightly, she took a few steps closer, her strides long for her little stature. "Hello, Ms. Lan. Are you looking for something?" She called out, hoping to be a service of the mysterious girl who had been Mengyao's friend - probably closer, too, seeing as they were on the same level, class-wise. It must have been nice.

Why she wanted to meet Lifen was simple if selfish. She missed talking to the women of conquest and more than that, she was curious as to who could stand Mengyao just as long as she could. Mostly the curiosity. A small bow and she smiled. “Yes actually. I was hoping I might run into you. We’ve never formally met and well.” She couldn’t help but chuckle, “Mengyao spends his time with you which for anyone to be able to stand him is a feat in itself. I can’t help but wonder who else aside from me can handle him and that smug face of his so often.”

Motioning to the outside, from where she’d come Lan was unsure. “Do you have time to chat or do you have more pressing matters to attend to? Everyone if often busy with one thing or another.”

It was almost relieving to be in the presense of the Conquest woman - she knew what she was to do, and how to act in front of her in public. Returning the little bow with a much deeper one - a show of respect for her superior, she dipped out of the bow, allowing her face to soften up in to a small smile.

"I was actually just coming back from finishing a project with some of the other members - so, I think I am able to talk for a while, if that is what you'd wish." She offered up, folding up her fan a little to regard the noble-woman. Hearing someone else talk about the tall clans-mate they had in common was kind of foreign, for she was so light hearted, and yet, her words held daggers of a strange affection. It was peculiar, but also amusing.

""I am happy to hear someone else is in the same mindset of our dear Mengyao." She offered up, her grin becoming more natural as she looked away, motioning that she was going to walk a bit, feeling stiff from all the work she had been doing today. ""I have been in his company since we were youths, I am not sure if our meeting was fate, or an unfortune luck on his behalf, but he has been faithful as a friend since then, do you agree?" She offered, wondering how Lan's relationship had been with him. She only knew a little about how the higher-caste had held themselves when they were on the isle.

It was much more . . . open now.

What project? Was there something that the artisans were busy with? Did they need help? How come no one told Lan? What if she could help and- Forcing herself to calm down, the horsewoman let herself relax. If the artisans were doing something, that was their job, she had her own tasks ahead of her.

Giggling, she held up a hand for a moment. "I don't think he'd like me to call him dear, though he is a most trusted friend. We often...disagree on some things, though, he's honest about such, which is more than one might say of some." A huff as she looked over, catching sight of an imperial soldier. "I worry more than I should but, I value his honesty and his ability to be forthright about it. Who else would tell me my hips look overly large in a new dress? Almost no one else."

Walking, the ones working would look up, only to pause, and then resume. One benefit of still being a noble. They assumed you had 'important business'. "If you've known him and put up with him so long, I think it was more luck for him. Luck is what has carried us this far in some ways. He's been my friend since we were children, but now... it feels like we must value what ties was have all the more. So... I wanted to meet others of our Clan and see what ties we might share."

Lan wanted friends. Friends who were not servants who would only bow and smile and say things to make her happy. True friends. The only problem was she was unsure she could make them.

Her hips?

Lifen couldn't help but look over the other horsewoman, mis-matched eyes taking a moment to scrutinize her lightly before giving her a smile. "I think you look fine. . .?" She admitted, her face staying firm, showing the truth. "I would assume you could call him critical, then. Which is fine I suppose. We all need a voice of reason." She offered, tapping her fan in her hand once or twice. She was never told that her hips or anything were too . . . large, or whatnot.

Well, not by Mengyao. There had been a few times were she had been scrutinized by family and friends of the family for her . . . well. . . assets. Her father had always said that she had filled out like his side of the family - a blessing in disguise he said. She found it a little frustrating, but did not normally allow it to show on her face.

Nodding softly along with the horsewoman, she was content to know that they seemed to be of like mind, her face softening up in to a sweet smile. "I completely understand where you are coming from, Ms. Lan. I believe that all bonds are now much stronger, only because we can only do what we can to continue our proud home. But, it is nice to know that we are surrounded by those we can call friends."

It was true, though - she was somewhat content to know that those around here were considering her on a nicer light - even if all she had left was Yuzhi and Mengyao to impress her existance on, before and after the fall of the country, she was finding that it was easier to talk to those she normally did not have the chance to before-hand.

"I would be willing to talk to you more, outside of work, Ms. Lan, possibly we could see to having tea with each other, every few days?" She offered.

A hand to her mouth, Lan giggled. "Thank you. He is very critical sometimes but, I'd rather suffer his remarks than those of some of our clan. Some nobles are rather... skilled with what details they remember. Makes more the occasional nasty reminders." Small blessing, she was pretty sure that those who remembered a certain blunder were all dead now. A pity, but they would get no tears from Lan.

"I hope, even if it is a selfish hope, that we might rise up again. We are conquest, this... temporary predicament does not suit our clan. All of us, not just those of the imperial line, are greater than this. Our history shows that we are meant for greatness. That we are destined to rule over those-" Clenching her fist, she breathed out, relaxed. "humans. It is what we were born to do."

"But let's not speak of such things. You say we should have tea and-" A smile, Lan nodded. "I would greatly enjoy that. For what this halloweentown lacks, it does have a good tea selection thank the stars. If it didn't could you imagine the fuss?" Another giggle, and Lan looked over to another member of conquest is the distance, busy setting his tea set out. "We'd be all out of sorts. How about later this week? Frightday? I might be able to find a Kumiko set by then."

"A vicious climb to the top, I think I heard it expressed once." She offered to Lan.

"I assume that it must feel a little grueling now, with so little of us left, yet so much on one's plate, Ms. Lan. I commend you on your solid resolution." She meant it too - even thought she knew, that everyone was suffering.

She had never dabbled in whatever the noble-caste had done on a daily occurance - it had always looked like a mixture between personal laze and odd work ethics. She was certain they had a lot to do - as youths, Mengyao had attested that there was a lot that a Noble had to do, but considering the youth hadn't the slightest idea how to fold a shirt, she had highly doubt that. It took a few years and some honest overlooking for her to come to the realization that they worked with voices, not hands.

Extending her fan out once again, she started to idly fan herself as they continued what was a very nice walk. Giving the Noblewoman a nod, she took all her words in to consideration, a soft smile permanent on her face.

"I am sure we all need a little bit of hope in these times." She murmured, her eyes flashing a little as she tried to pre-dispose of any muddled voices that were trying to creep up her spine and aggitate her. She wanted just one day of silence. "But, I agree. I think we should not dwell on the bad, and work toward something we can all be proud of." She mused out loud, before the thought of tea permeated any thoughts further.

"Frightday?" She questioned, deflecting her sight upwards, as if taking a personal agenda in her head, before a sweet smile showed on her face. "I think I can handle that. I do not have anything terribly pressing that would halt me from enjoying a nice moment of tea with a friend," she offered before looking down at the noblewoman. "Although, you do not have to go to such means to impress me, Ms. Lan - the offer of allowing me to enjoy a moment of tea with you is quite pleasing enough."

Kumiko sets were . . . probably expensive and she would worry about tarnishing it, or something.

Vicious, but worth it. To be at the top was a wonderful thing, and Lan relished in it. "Again, my thanks. I try to do as my lady mother and lord father would have of me. To act as one fitting the imperial line might. Though now it's just a mess to speak frankly." Tossing her hair back the noble nodded her head. "Frightday it is and you forget, a noble must always aim to impress. If we cannot impress how can we show how much better we are." A tiny fit of giggles escaped her.

"Though, it is better I try than not. I'd look terrible if I didn't do my makeup and dress properly. The line of trying to impress and simply being what we are is... much higher than most others. Habit I think."

A small bow and Lan was smiling. "I look forward to our game Lifen."
