Lacie looked down at the sheet of paper where she had written down the directions for the maul. With the upcoming news of ‘prom’, several friends had recommended that she drop by the ‘maul’. Lacie, having never heard what the maul was, wondered if this would answer all of her questions. And so, she had decided to go!
Walking there was the easiest part. Now that she was here, Lacie realized one very important thing. She had never been to a place as large as the ‘maul’, and all these new stores with bustling people confused the young girl. “U-um..” Where could she even begin? There was so much to do, and so much to look at.
Looking for the information desk, she looked curiously at the map. Where to..?

He was at the maul for a reason, and yet Ren was having Major Issues.
"No, really, I just...wait, nope, that's not right, how about a different color...no, that actually looks really terrible, let's not do that - "
It seemed as though finding a gift for his ghoulfriend was not nearly as easy as he had thought it would be. Ren had spent the past several hours with absolutely zero luck in whittling down potential ideas, and now he was left with...well, nothing.
How pathetic.
Stepping back out of one store, he gave a sigh, sliding his hands into his pockets as he made his way down the crowded aisleways. He made it about six feet before he realized there was someone standing in the middle of the way, looking somewhat confused - and vaguely familiar.
"Hey," said Ren, slowing down to a stop and giving the ghoul a smile. "Aren't you from Amityville? You okay? You look a bit, ah...confused."

"Yes, I am!" She nodded her head, her pigtails swaying behind her as she turned to greet her fellow Amityville student. She was a bit reassured by the friendly smile on his face, finding the courage to speak to him. "You are at Amityville.. as well?" In addition to his familiarity, she believed that she had seen him around the school several times as well. At the mention of her confusedness, she nodded.
"This place is very big," She threw up her arms to explain simply how big it was (to her), and spun around. It must have been very big to her, a girl that had been isolated in a room for a long time. Putting a finger on her chin, "I wonder what would happen if I were to become lost.." She seemed to be contemplating some difficult possibilities, judging from the look on her face.
She looked at the stranger that had spoken to her, noticing that he wasn't feeling well either. "But you look rather tired. Are you all right?" Lacie held one hand to her cheek worriedly, seeing that he was in similar circumstances.

"I am indeed at Amityville as well," replied Ren with an easy smile, his wings fluttering a little as they settled neatly and comfortably against his back. His tail curled around one of his ankles. "My name's Ren, by the way."
"And yes," he added, with a glance at their surroundings. "It most certainly is extraordinarily large and much too confusing."
With a small, slightly exasperated sigh, Ren looked back at the ghoul and blinked, a little taken aback by her question. But then he laughed, shaking his head so that the short strands of brown-blonde hair fell against his freckled cheeks.
"I'm always tired," he said lightly, and then grinned. "But I'm afraid this time I've been at sort of an impasse. I've been trying to find a present for my ghoulfriend, and it's not exactly going as well as I had hoped..."

Lacie didn't understand his shock at her question. But he didn't look offended, so Lacie assumed that she hadn't done anything too wrong.
"My name is Lacie. It's very nice to meet you Ren!"
"A present? Ghoulfriend?" Lacie tried to remember what Vaith had told her about ghoulfriends.. "A ghoulfriend is a ghoul + friend! It's a mathematical equation. But remember, if you change the addition to subtraction. Then, they won't be your friend anymore!"
Then Lacie should be glad that Ren had a ghoulfriend indeed O_O;;;;
"A present? May I come with you?" She looked a little uncertain as she asked Ren this, as if she expected him to refuse. But it seemed a little less scary if Lacie were to accompany somebody who knew the maul. To be honest, Lacie wasn't looking forward to being by herself. Knowing her, she could actually become really lost. But would a stranger be all right acquiescing to her bold request?
