As usual, the professor did not show up for the class, as he had deemed it study session for all graduating students until their final exams. A study session that usually consisted of loud noises, laughter, and in general, a ruckus that often caused professors from several other classes to tap on the door and wonder what in the Jack Skellington's name was going on.
Thankfully, with only a week until finals, most students had finally bucked down to study, though it was not unusual for conversation to break out between the desks. Everyone was friendly, to some degree, or at least knew each other. They had a relatively common interest.
Not to mention, the practical application of Fear was boring. Who cared if some old Reaper went and harvested Fear in some Human World area to bring back to Halloween in exchange for a new law in Halloween Town for graveyard rights to plant a flower next to their graveyard? BORING.
And unfortunately, the paperwork, or reading material, just never ended. OPEN STUDY SESSION - Any students who go to this class are in an OPEN STUDY SESSION. That means in theory, they CAN sneak out of this class to attend other classes, or sneak back in (or other students can sneak into this class, but quietly okay). - Make sure to quote anyone who are talking to. When you enter the thread write in ENTER at the top of the post, if you are exiting / sneaking out, write EXIT at the top of your post. gaia_crown [ MOCK EXAM:] Your student can also choose to take a MOCK EXAM. Simply roll a 10-sided dice and match your dice roll to the results below, roll it out five times for one page of the "mock exam". RP out as you need to (including what the question is, you can totally make this up!) : you can ask others for advice. 1-2 Your student has no clue waht they are looking at, is this even the right subject? What what toilet laws what now? 3- 4: Your student thinks they remember hearing something about Fear of minipets somewhere, but it seems vague. Maybe someone else knows...? 5-6: Your student thinks they know the answer to this one, and quickly scrawl something down. 7-8: Your student doesn't really know but they quickly peel open their textbook to take a quick peek... 9 - 10: Your student is confident they know the answer because it is fresh in their mind from the last class they took. Awesome!

Hgnghgnghnghgnhgn.
Moira smacked her head into the desk, only to get an irritated pair of squeaks as the headcrabs riding on her back shifted away from the movement. "M'sorry," she mumbled, her face buried in her textbook.
This was boring. So. Boring. She was so ready to be done, and yet time was stretching on. She was pretty sure the clock had just jumped backwards. The headcrab zombie groaned quietly and pushed herself up on one elbow, staring at the book.
... Nope.
Still boring.
She glanced off to one side, hoping to catch someone else's gaze. Maybe they could pass notes, or something... anything. Because Jack. So. Boring.
Thud.

Moira would get no such entertainment from Selene. The small, hunched over ghoul was writing in her book furiously, so determined to glean even the tiniest bit of information out of her last class that she looked as though she was going to pop one of her blood vessels underneath the scales that dotted her face. Her serpentine tail swished excitedly behind her, accidentally knocking the tables and chairs as it passed to and fro, but she was simply too caught up in her work to care.
This was the last time they would have to study. To learn. To get something out of school. She didn't feel ready. Surely there was some optional summer coursework they could give her? Something? Anything..? SHE WASN'T READY!!
A tiny whimper escaped from the egyptian snake ghoul, before she quickly stifled it, covering her mouth with both hands as if the tiny sound was so offensive it would be punishable by death. Then she quickly went back to scribbling as if her life depended on it.

A moment later, a paper airplane floated onto Selene's desk. Quote: Are you okies Lennie spookie??? sad sad sad ... Presumably, there was only one person in the room that called everyone after the name of a baked good.

Ren was absolutely, definitely not studying. His notebook was open on his desk, sure, just to keep up appearances, but instead of actually writing in it, he had drawn an elaborate maze and was now using a dead fly on a string in an attempt to coax his penstrictor through the twists and turns properly. "C'mooooon little buddy," he crooned. "You can do this. It's not that tight a turn. Look, dead fly. Looks tasty, doesn't it?"

He probably should have cared more that there were paper airplanes soaring around the room and that the boil in the seat two desks over was doing something very suspicious with what looked like some sort of insect - but Jinhai instead was attempting to stay focused on his own work. It was surprisingly easy to tune out everything else around him and only see what lay exactly in front of him - namely the last paper he needed to work on. But unfortunately, the paper itself was not exactly easy, and Jinhai was staring at it with a look of deep upset and utmost concentration.
Maybe if he concentrated really hard it would just do itself and he wouldn't have to worry about it.
But, thought Jinhai, a slight frown tugging one corner of his lips down as he idly tapped his penstrictor against the desktop, that was an illogical way of looking at things, and the best course of action would be to just keep concentrating until it was done.
...hopefully that wouldn't be too difficult.

When the paper hit her desk, Selene very nearly had a heart attack. It was a quiet sort of heart attack, one where her face screwed into all sorts of horrific looks, before she realized it was just a paper, and picked it up to open it. She read the contents, and looked like she was about to have another heart attack. Note passing? In class? Her hands shook as she considered very carefully whether it was worth answering or not. Technically, she probably wouldn't get in trouble. But.. but.. they were supposed to be studyiiiing.. She flattened the note out, scribbled a quick reply, and then refolded it, only to climb under her desk and throw the paper airplane back at Moira from under the safety net of the desk. She pulled herself back up, and sat back on the chair - that had moved too far back without her noticing. So instead, her rear end planted itself firmly on the floor, and she turned green with embarrassment. Sosiqui Yes Moira dear I am perfectly fine but we should be studying are you studying!!!!

The paper airplane thunked into her leg; Moira quickly retrieved it, hunching further over her book with an expression something like >3 on her face. She unfolded the paper, read it, then tore another page out of her notebook. Quote: Of course I am studying spookie!! I studied a bunch already so everything will be okay and anyway I don't really care about the exams so much because everything will be fine so it's okay!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin how about you oh dear you should get up spookie do you need help??? When I am a famous inventor i will make you robot legs!!!!!!! This missive was rather... rather too large for the paper airplane, she felt. People might see the writing on the wings and read her secret letters!! Moira quietly coaxed Gordon down onto her desk, then tied the paper around the headcrab's leg before sending him skittering away. The poison headcrab sidled over to Selene and bumped into her. If Selene looked back at Moira, she would see a big smile and a double thumbs-up.

The penstrictor was being uncooperative. Sighing dramatically, Ren picked it up and tucked it back into its carrying case. That done, he looked around for some other way to alleviate his boredom. Oh heyyyyyy, one of Moira's headcrabs was on the loose.
He leaned over in his seat and dangled the fly-on-a-string in the middle of the aisle. "Ssst, hey hat boy, you want a nice fly? Hm?"

Arcana sat quietly in his seat with the same idea as his friend Selene. Read and study and get this studd down so he could pass his exams and move on from Amityville.
It wasn't like he disliked Amityville...he just wanted to start that next phase of adulthood. He could see in his card readings (which he did often just to see if anything jumped at him) that there would be change in him. For him. He could only sum it up to graduating from the school.
He barely registered the flying airplanes and student playing with some minipet. A problem in his book was clearly more disturbing to his mind. Eyeing it before sighing, he scooted his chair over to his friend Selene and frowned.
"S..Selene?" He paused, stifling the awkward feeling in him everytime he went near his friends before breathing in. "Can you help me with this really quick? The notes I had aren't really helping me and I just don't get this part." If he could rely on anyone, it was the booksnake after all. He admired her for her studious behaviour.

Westhor had walked into the class, picked a desk at random, laid his head down... And started snoring. Unfortunately for his classmates, his snoring probably sounded like the roar of thunder.
Lightning elemental and all.

There was a set of cards in Tarot’s hands, and it wasn’t her personal deck of cards. It was flashcards. The reaper’s lips moved, forming silent words as she intently eyed the terms on the tiny piece of paper. She refused to let the noise inside the classroom distract. She was going to study and study well, even if Tarot felt confident she knew the concepts covered in the exam. Tarot shifted in her seat, one leg over the other as she leaned against the chair. She would have continued to shuffle through her cards if she hadn’t heard Arcana’s quiet voice. Her gaze shifted toward her brother and Selene. Tarot watched him for a few seconds before her lips curved into a smile. Maybe she should have said something at them both, but she said nothing.
Instead she continued to watch the pair for a few more moments before turning toward her neighbor. She had noticed that the boil hadn’t made much progress on his paper, whatever it was. Tarot leaned over slightly. “Um—“ She began to speak up, but then stopped in case he didn’t want to be bothered.

And now snoring. Loud, rumbling, obnoxious, horribly loud snoring.
Suddenly concentrating on his paper seemed very, very difficult.
Jinhai, however, said nothing; only exhaled a mildly exasperated breath, that same slightly annoyed expression on his face as he looked first at the boil making the racket, and then back to the paper on his desk - which he hadn't gotten very far on.
He added a word, and then erased it.
"Um - "
A voice, to his left. Jinhai, leaning over his desk and staring in dismay at his unfinished paper, now leaned back, his long, tri-braided hair falling over his back and in front of his shoulders as he turned his head to look at the ghoul beside him. He waited patiently for her to finish her sentence.
...she wasn't talking.
"...yes?" said Jinhai, in an attempt at prompting her to finish, confusion drawing his brows together.

Selene quickly hopped back up to her seat and kept her eyes on Moira, so she wouldn't be surprised when another plane came flying. But instead, she sent one of her little minipet friends that lived on her, which Selene thought was a much safer idea. So Moira would receive a gentle, tentative smile back when the thumbs were given, and Selene even tried to imitate the gesture. It was truly too hesitant to really showcase the thumbs, but she tried.
Before the minipet could make it to her, however, she heard a soft and familiar voice calling for her, and her tentative smile vanished. She turned, very slowly, back to Arcana. All of the meekness she'd managed to shed in her little interaction with Moira, came back with a vengeance, and she hunched slightly, keeping her face as well hidden underneath her braided black hair as she could. The little beads tinkled as they hit one another.
"Ah-ahh, ssssure, I can.. try." Her voice was a whisper, only audible because of how quiet the room was. She leaned in closer, and then immediately shied away, suddenly embarrassed at the proximity that Arcana's question had put them. "Let me jusssst take a look." Inwardly, she cursed her tongue as her slithering stutter came out, and reached out very quickly to grab the book and pull it towards her.
But she never managed to make it that far. Before she could take hold of the book, thunder filled the air, sending the already shivering Selene out of her seat in surprise. She clutched her chest and fainted almost instantly, too shocked to even process whatever that sound was.

Arcana sighed in relief although the snake ghoul seemed to shy away from him. Responding the same as well, he sat hunched over his seat, trying not to invade her already invaded bubble of space and attempted to see the notes she had taken before, his hand still outstrected with his notebook.
Before her hand even touched the book though, Thunder filled the theories room, causing the dinivation reaper jump so high in his seat, it was a surprise he wasn't a cat clinging to the ceiling.
he waryily turned his head to look at the thing making all the nose as he heard the small sound of Selene getting up. He had barely turned in time to outstretch his arms to catch the Snake ghoul. Gently of course since her limbs were very....breakable. It probably would've been really bad if she hit the ground.
"Selene!?!?" He whispered, checking the ghoul over. Healing came before his awkward shyness. There was a blush though mottling his cheeks. "Tarot..." He called for his sister, unable to do much more then cradle the snake ghoul with worry in his eyes.
The look he sent his sister was something like:
