Irritation was too mild a word to describe Heidla's feelings. She was furious. She was outraged. And she was miserable. Priestesses do not gather resources. Priestesses do not run errands. That wasn't even funny.
She was on the edge of this Jack-forsaken forest, all alone, having to do something she had never done in her life before - and that part was not even interesting in the first place. She needed to pour her anger out, so she kicked a trunk of tree with all her might. You stupid trunk! Oh, that was almost hysterical. Good no-one was around, or they could have had a good laugh watching a priestess of death fighting the dead trunk. Well, at least it was dead already.
And Heidla wasn't. Or else she thought she would die this very moment out of self-pity, so she hugged the former enemy of the tree and wept for a while.
But wait! The trunk was actually hollow. Could it be that it passed as whatever supplies they had to gather? (she wasn't even sure about it). Well, she'll make sure it would.

What else could they need? Was it all about gathering old dead stuff? Could it be that Heidla was not attentive enough, and now had to come with a list of her own?

Oh, that was sad. Dead birds - what could be more convenient for a bouquet worthy of a death priestess? Or was is solitude and memories and bad dreams? But Heidla proceeded with a most outrageous thing - she indeed made a bouquet out of dead birds and murmuring a melody to herself, waltzed awkardly in the unsurprised silence of the forest. After all, the birds were dead and could not sing a tune to her.  Exhausted, she fell down and lied there in the grass, sensing autumnal and dying whispers of the grass. Then she signed and put all the small bones into a leather bag. Who knows, maybe that's what the head priestess needs.
