It wasn't at all odd that Ares was traveling with two snakes, at least for her. They were good enough company, at least for the most part. Both of they could get a little obnoxious at times, but it was much better then being by herself at least. The lioness moved through the grasslands, the tips of the browning foliage brushing against her pelt as her claws dug into the ground beneath her.

Deimos, her black scaled companion moved beside her, easily keeping up with the large feline's pace. He was used to it, having traveled with her for so long already, even before the trio were pushed into the rogue lands. Silver eyes glanced to the side at the final member of their group.

The final member being Phobos, a female serpent and pure white to contrast Deimos' pure black scales. She moved over the ground with an ease that made the male in the group quite jealous of her grace. Golden eyes moved over, catching the other snake staring at her. "Do not stare at me, I am a lady." She stated with a stern voice as she sped up a bit to move closer to Ares.

"No, you are a b***h." Came a mumbled reply to Phobos' words from the other after she was well out the danger of hearing him. "Hey! Ares!" The lioness turned her head around to look back at Deimos, giving him her attention. "Where are we going anyways?" That was a good question actually as the red big cat truly had little to no idea where she was heading at this point. She was out of a home as were the other two who had been with her since they were eggs. "No idea, really. I suppose we'll keep walking until we find somewhere worth stopping."

User ImageThe day was ripe for the wind, licking at the speeding pelt of a blue blur rushing towards the unsuspecting trio. The sun felt fresh and nice on his pelt, and his yellow underside happily glistened as if in homage to the source of the warmth that flooded his body. High noon was always a good time for a run.

The cheetah was usually always around his brothers and sisters, but for some reason today, he sprinted off early for a solo run. It wasn't rare that this occurred, as the group tended to more often than not just run off to enjoy the air or breeze, but he would have liked to think that they all enjoyed sticking around with each other. Ah, well.

They lived for speed, and sometimes he wanted to run alone, so that he could train without the prying and observing eyes of the others. Maybe he could learn some techniques to beat them in a race or something! He wasn't the fastest sometimes for no reason, after all. He liked to think that he was quite slick.

"Woooooooooooo!" came the enthused shout as he sprinted across the grasses, making leaves jump and bugs scuttle away as fast as they could from the thundering cheetah.

He was focused, he was poised, he was...

"Woooooooooah! HEY!" came the shout as he realized he was about to run into a big red thing and two little things on the ground.

Correction - two slithering little things on the ground, and he just managed to falter over a rock near the strange group instead of tripping over one of the wiggling things, to which he felt relieved. He jumped to attention and steadied himself from that abrupt stop, wondering if he really should have stopped for the intimidating looking lioness. He supposed he couldn't have, anyways, as he was about to trip over one of them.

"Miss, are you being bothered by these two..." he stopped to glance at the disgruntled-looking things, "These two snappers? I've a quick paw with disposing of threats, I've been told."

He smiled, as if she really wasn't capable of handling herself; she definitely was.

"Name's Radihesi."

Ares, along with the pair of snakes both looked up at the sudden yelling that came from a distance. A distance that the cheetah that had let out the loud noise quickly closed. She glanced down towards her companions and then back to the quick-talking and equally as fleet-footed feline. "No, they are no bother. That is how their usual conversations end up going, sadly enough." It truly was horrible the two just couldn't get along. Perhaps more time would fix that, but they had known eachother for quite some time and if they weren't at least some sort of friend by now, there was little hope for that.

"It's a pleasure Radihesi. I'm Ares." She motioned to her reptilian companions, "And those are Deimos and Phobos. Phobos is the white one, Deimos is the black." Though the pair weren't exactly happy at the moment though. Both were staring up at the bright blue newcomer while the black one of the pair took it one step further. He was hissing, wary of this 'Radihesi'. Too often had there been simple, harmless even people approach others and BAM, they were attacked for almost no reason.

"Oh shush, Deimos." The female serpent finally came out and said. "If he tried anything, I'm sure Ares could handle herself. I mean just look at him. He's all skin and bones anyways. There's no way he could take her on." After Phobos finished, she smiled back up towards the new male, but still maintained her protective position in front of Ares along with Deimos. The black snake finally did stop his hissing though, not exactly pleased to be doing so, but he did it mainly to not upset his only chance of passing on his genes any further then he already had. "Whatever you say, Phobos. I still don't trust him though."

Radihesi was overly confused. First, the lioness before him seemed quite calm and matter-of-fact, which is not a usual response he would elicit. Second, apparently she knew and befriended the two serpents on the ground prior to this meeting. Third, he was just insulted by one of the things wiggling on the ground. He wasn't sure how to take that.

"Yes, a pleasure... Miss... Ares. Ah... Skin and bones, hah!" he managed to say slowly, both in a mixed tone of confusion and amusement.

"See here, uh, Deimos. Or Phobos," he blinked at the snakes, unable to tell one from the other even though it was explained, "If I were just skin and bones, I wouldn't be fit enough to run as fast as I do! And there you go."

He put on a smug look, still looking back and forth between the snakes. At least that one stopped making that odd noise.

"Well, I'll be out of your hair - scales - or whatever in just a moment. You haven't seen any of my brothers or sisters around? They look just a bit like me, except with some subtle differences. Or you guys wouldn't happen to be any of their spies, hmm? Can't have any of that happening around here, nope."

He eyed the group, cautiously smiling and perhaps unnecessarily bothering them. But one can't be too careful these days.

"Spies?!" Cried Phobos, "Hmph, well I never. Just the very thou-" The outraged serpent was quickly silenced by the large feline but Ares abruptly putting her paw around her mouth. "No," She responded, much more calmly. "I haven't seen any of your brothers or sisters and I'm very sure none of us are spies for them." Actually he was the first cheetah she had seen in a very long time. She had only seen a few in her time, but none as brightly colored as the one before them.

Deimos looked the feline up and down, his silver eyes inspecting him. He was wasn't convinced the cheetah wouldn't hurt them, but for now he didn't have much choice if Ares trust him, or pretended she did. "Hmph. I still don't trust ya, skelly, but if the big gal does, then I'll go along with it."

It was fascinating how the lioness kept such tight control over her two... subordinates. They didn't seem to mind being handled, either way. They did seem to need a tamer to... do that job just for them, if not for their mouths.

"Alright, then," he said curtly, "If you're not spies, then I won't have to worry about getting one-upped come next race, hmm."

He turned around, about to lift a paw to go off, but then he paused. Surely he had manners.

Looking back at Ares, he signalled with his head at the horizon.

"Looking to go anywhere? I can lead ya if you need leading. Don't worry, I'd pace myself well enough so you all can catch up!" he offered with a chuckle.

He sure was cocky like the other cheetahs she had met. Ares couldn't help but grin though. She definitely did like his personality, it was a shame he was a cheetah. Lead her anywhere, perhaps he could. Perhaps he actually knew where she was heading at this point or knew someone who would know. "The firekin." She finally said, "Do you know anything about them? I've heard about them in whispers but few know anything about them apparently."

The firekin? Deimos looked up to his lioness mistress with startled silver eyes. Wasn't that the pride of warriors? The red giants? Why in the world was she--Oh. She intended to join or at least that's what the black snake figured she planned to do. Oh dear, how would he and Phobos fair wherever those 'firekin' lived? He had to worry for the two of them, because obviously Phobos didn't worry about the three of them enough.

Phobos hadn't been anywhere near as confused as her male companion. She knew Ares was a warrior at heart and had seen her fight on more occasions then Deimos had. The snake knew what she was capable of and of course would follow her no matter where she decided to go in the end.

Radihesi opened his mouth with a look on his face as if some light lit in his head.

"Firekin!" he spoke, nodding in feigned understanding.

But then, a slow realization came to him, and he tilted his head on a stuck thought. He suddenly found himself wondering what firekin were.

"Oh, oh, I see. I'm afraid I don't know what those are. Pardon me, Ares. But I do hope you get to wherever that is."

He bowed his head briefly, bringing it back up with an encouraging smile.

"If you do see one of my siblings, I can also say for a fact that none of them know, either. We're a racing group, and don't bother ourselves with much other than that."

"Of course. Thank you anyways." Well that's just another creature who had no idea where to find these so-called firekin. Ares was beginning to think they were folktales made up by nannies to scare cubs into staying inside their dens with their mothers. The lioness scoffed, looking down at the two snakes beside her. "Lets go you two. We have a lot of ground to cover before we hit another pride."

Deimos moved beside the white snake who in turn moved near Ares. The pair followed after her as the trio turned to leave the company of the cheetah. He had proved himself to have nothing of value in the form of information and even as a meal, he had little to offer.

Phobos rolled her golden eyes as she knocked her companion on the head with the tip of her tail as they passed. "Get your head out of the cloud. You're going to get us into trouble again. If you have kept your eyes peeled before we wouldn't have had to deal with that eagle a while back." She said as the distance between the three and the cheetah grew larger.

He nodded respectfully as he acknowledged the trio perhaps had a long journey ahead of them. Too bad they weren't as fast as him! Then perhaps they would have gotten there already.

And without other glance, he zoomed away into the distance.
