 Cosine stood in the kitchen of her and Ankou’s rooms. She held Caelia tightly on her hip and together they peered into the fridge. Being the goddess of Number she was experimenting as Echo had suggested, giving the children different foods and activities to see what they might like the best.
“Well, there are cookies, we can try them ... some meat ...” There really wasn’t much of anything in there. “Um, some fruit?” She suggested to her daughter. “Apples are yummy.” Whilst his mother hunted for food Isidore and Kyrie had been left in the company of their father. They were in a nice room, well, Isi thought it was nice. It had nice walls and floor and they were sat on a comfy seat. His daddy was nice too. He had pretty wings and made cool things, Isi had picked up a piece of bone from the work desk and was chewing on it. It didn’t have much of a taste but it felt good to chew on. Grinning to himself he pulled it out of his mouth and held it up to his father, slobber dripping off it and onto the couch. Maybe he would like to chew on it too.

Caelia did not seem to mind her current position, even if she did keep wriggling in her mother's hold. Not that being dropped down would do the little girl much good - the fine art of walking still more or less escaped her.
Thankfully, perhaps, for the young Augury seemed just as restless as her father, save from the blissful moments where she was actually asleep.
Wide eyes kept going from Cosine to the fridge and then back to her mother. "Aaaa ?" Hm. Well, the little girl seemed to have made her choice, and her choice was apparently to try to dart headfirst for the cookies.
Ah. The chewing.
Did he ever know of this. Crys and crayons came to mind instantaneously. "That is not for eating, Isi." Nevermind that he had just been chewing on it. Same thing. Right ?
What he did not expect was to be offered a bone piece chock full of youngling slobber. "Ah... Thank you ?" He would wipe that off... Later. For now he was more or less getting nothing done at all while keeping track of his son and daughter.
A quick scan through did reveal some stray fabric that he offered to his son. That was less likely to splinter, really. "Do you want to touch this ? It is soft."

Kyrie twitched her head to the side and she eyed her brother as he grabbed the bit of bone. Holding tightly to a fold of her father's robes, she tilted her head further. That looked like great fun to chew on, whatever that was. It was a nice shade of bright white and it looked smooth. She liked smooth things. They were a bit hard to grab with her beak, but they felt really nice on her tongue. Looking away as her brother held the small, slobber covered thing up to their father, her hand slipped from her father's robes unnoticed as he was distracted.
Her blue eyes scanned the work bench filled with odds and ends and she gave a happy chortle. This was her new favourite place, she decided. Of course, she had thought that about every room and cozy place she had been shown thus far. But truly, this room was the most fun by far. There were so many shinies to catch her eye. With her father distracted by Isi, she leaned forward as far as she could, her tiny fingers stretching until they brushed against the cold metal of one of her father's tools. Opening her beak, she let out a sound equivalent to a sigh or a grunt of someone working particularly hard to get at something. Finally, her fingers were able to wrap around the rather sharp looking tool and she brought it back to her lap to investigate it further. It looked nice and smooth. It was cold, too, just like her papa and brother. But more importantly, it shone in the light so beautifully.

"Cookies?" That brought a smile to Cosine's face. "Well perhaps that addiction runs in the family." She pulled Cae back from her adventure into the fridge and reached in to grab the plate of cookies. Weren't they really unhealthy? Did that matter to gods?
"Let's go back to papa. See if your brother and sister haven't driven him crazy yet."
Isi was happy when his father took the bone from him, though his joy faded as he showed no interest in the item. He frowned a little as the bone was put to the side, though his attention was quickly caught by the soft fabric. Now thaaaat was pretty. He grabbed it with his small hand and studied it a moment, it had nice patterns and shiny bits.

Caelia looked back up as her mother spoke again and grinned. Really, she was just happy to hear mommy's voice. The cookies might be a bonus. Really. That remained to be seen.
While she did not seem to be able to vocalize too well so far, she seemed to understand perfectly what her mother was telling her. "Hn !" It would be no good if they all had fun without her !
"Pretty, isn't it ? Do you like it ?" That was a start. They could break into the why he liked it later.
There was a fine art to being a father, in that one needed to have eyes in all directions.
Ankou still lacked that fine art, which perhaps was strange given how easily it had become to separate his awareness. Still, he only caught onto what Kyrie was going too late, and while those particular tools were of little danger to a little goddess... Well.
She should not get the idea to go this with Gungnir, though thankfully the ancient spear lacked in shiny. Which, if the little Crow was much like the being she ruled...
"Oh Kyyyy...." He had reached for another item on the desk - a rather shiny little bell, dangling teasingly just out of her current reach, but all she would need to do was drop the tool and reach out again to nab it. Pretty shine that made noise ! Clearly more interesting than some boring old tool, yes ?
Talking about that, a case for the boring old tools would be a nessessity.

Kyrie was running her dark fingers over the flat side of the tool when her father's voice calling her name caught her attention. Looking up, the tool was instantly forgotten as the little bell tinkled lightly and caught the light so brilliantly. Giving a happy caw, she bounced up a little and reached for the bell. When her fingers hit it and it jingled again, she gave a chortling laugh and she looked to her papa. He had the most brilliant playthings. Clacking her beak a little, she shifted to lean into him and she rested her feathery head against his side. She couldn't wait to see what else he'd produce for them to play with.

"I found cookies." Cosine walked into Ankou's office and smiled as she saw that he was keeping the other two amused quite happily. Three was quite a handful.
"What have you got there Kyrie?" She placed Cae down with her brother and sister and set about sorting cookies out for each of them.
Isi looked up as his mother came into the room with his other sister and grinned.
"Ah." he said, look, holding the fabric up. It was very soft, though he liked the bone just as much and now Kyrie had a bell that made pretty noises. he liked the sound of the bell too.

"Ohhhhh..." Her siblings had things too ! Kyrie's thing made noise, which was what caught her attention. Isidore's thing did not, but it looked... pretty ! Caelia reached out to touch it as it was held up. She liked the way it felt under her fingers, and giggled.
But... She had treasures too ! Apparently too content to ignore her mother's careful attempt at distributions, she took cookies from her share and handed them to her brother and sister.
They could check out what she found, too !
The tool was quickly re-gathered and put way out of the way of curious little hands, and the same was quickly and quietly done with anything similar that still happened to be out of reach. He paused when he felt a soft weight against his side, and looked down at Kyrie, one free hand going to gently pet her feathers.
"I believe everything shiny in this place is at a great risk..." Came the amused statement as Cosine came back with Caelia. This was not a bad thing in itself... They would just have to be sure to teach her to not simply take things, and to wait until she was offered them.
That could be the complicated part.

Kyrie closed her eyes as her father ran his cool hand over her feathers. She decided she really liked being caressed like that. It felt really nice. Hearing her mother's voice, she opened her eyes and perked her head back up. Clacking her beak excitedly she held her bell up for her sister to see, but was careful to keep it out of reach. It was hers after all. But then Caelia offered her something that looked very interesting. It wasn't shiny or pretty like Isi's thing, but it smelled niced. With her hands occupied by her new toy, she decided to do what came natural to her to take her sister's gift. Leaning forward, she opened her beak to take the cookie and snatched it from her sister's grasp, accidentally pinching a finger in the process.

Cosine smiled back at Ankou and crouched to kneel on the floor in front of the four of them. She had been about to scold Cae for taking the cookies, though changed her mind as the little goddess shared them out.
"Hmm, yes, rules." She shifted to lean her arm on his leg and watched as Kyrie snapped at Cae's fingers to get the cookie.
"No, Kyr! Gently."
Isi was semi oblivious to the girls and their gifts. He did like the sound of the bell very much but he was not really bothered by its shiny appearance. He smiled as Cae as she appraised his fabric and let go so she could have it.
Instead he took the cookie and attempted a large bite. It was sweet, and might have been tasty, he swallowed and made a face, dropping the cookie to the sofa. Food was not a favourite thing. The bone toy however ... as his parents were distracted he pushed himself up onto his feet, his hands tight on the back of the couch.

Caelia yelped as she ended up with a rather sharp beak pinching her finger. Thankfully the pinch had not been enough to rip skin off or seriously harm her, but it was rather unpleasant. And for a tiny little goddess, it did hurt a lot.
There was only one way this could go, really. It started with a few tears, but evolved into full on bawling sooner than later, her own cookies, as well as Isi's treasure, dropped and forgotten,
It had been inevitable that they would end up with a faceful of crying kid sooner them later. Or maybe even a crescendo. Ankou really hoped he would not end up with a crescendo. With Cosine dealing with Kyrie, he figured he could deal with Caelia - carefully scooping her into his lap while subconsciously moving to support Isidore as he stood up. The workbench was cleared of anything that was truly dangerous, and he had a good feeling he was going back for his chewtoy, which was too big for him to swallow anyway.
"Kyrie did not do it on purpose, Caelia. Shh..." Well, it was a start, through he was not getting much headway done for now.

Kyrie blinked as she was scolded and she dropped her cookie in her surprise. Turning a big blue eye to her sister, she ruffled her feathers in distress as she melted into sobs. Reaching out, she patted Caelia clumsily on her arm. Don't be sad, she thought, looking to her mother and father for help. She really hadn't meant to hurt her. When her sister was scooped up by their daddy, she turned to her mother and felt her lower beak wobble a little.

Cosine winced as the crying started up. They had been pretty good so far, but children were children. She moved to kneel in front of Kyrie and placed a hand on her chubby knee.
"Shh Kyrie, shh. It's okay, just be gentle next time. Softly, like this." She smiled and tapped her beak gently.
"Now we say sorry."
Isi was indeed after his bone. He reached out for it and grinned as he managed to grab it. He wasn't really sure what all the crying was for ...
He flopped back down on the sofa and began to chew.

At least Isidore did not look like he was about to chime in. In fact, the boy looked more or less unbothered, thank Creation.
Smart boy, there.
"Shhhh... Cae." He continued, eventually reaching out for the thobbing finger to rest his hand on top of it. The cold might help, actually. "There, all gone ?"
WAHHHHHHHHH-
Oh.
Caelia blinked once, twice. That felt funny ! And apparently the distraction worked wonder, as she looked up at her father with wide, curious eyes, face still tear-streaked but at the least the onslaught had stopped.

Kyrie gave her mother a rather woeful look and then looked to her sister at her urging to say sorry. Pushing herself up to her knees, she crawled over to where her father had Caelia. Sitting down on her backside, she picked up one of the dropped cookies and held it up to her sister in a peace offering. Waving it up at her, she shifted closer and moved to rest her head on her knee. She really, really was so sorry. Maybe she'd get some more pettings like her father had given her not moments before.
