Selene took Tessth down to the feeding tables for lunch at the feeding tables. Of course it was after Tessth pestered her to go and see the healers. Her leg would be okay and she would have a couple scars, she could live with that.
Selenemine, I am hungry again, make sure you eat something as well.
"Of course, Tessth," The girl could not stop smiling anymore; she began picking out pieces of good meat to give to Hers.

The oil was no where on par for what Hekate felt Devith deserved, but it would do for now. At least the substance was scentless and eased her lifemate's itching as she eyed his dusky silver hide with the same critical eye she would use to discern her own garb. His hide must be perfect, neither of them would settle for anything less. The young silver in question lay stretched out before his rider, his head resting contently in her lap, his claws loosely and possessively latched into the leather of her pants as his whirling eyes lay closed. Devith was perfectly content to languish and nap fully trusting His to see to his continued perfection as the pair sat in a patch of sun in their temporary residence until they would be given a more permanent place to room.

Then with little warning a shiver ran through silver and rider alike. I Hunger. Came Devith's commanding words as his eyes whirled bright with his distress as he rose Hekate scrambling to her feet only a touch less graceful then her lifemate.

"I remember overhearing that they would be setting up the feeding tables outside the kitchens." Hekate mused grinning at the sudden emotional jolt of pleased approval from her dragon.

CleverMine. Let us go before others dare totake the good meat. Devith crooned the pair taking a rather slower refined pace to conserve the silvers energy. Hekate wasn't as knowledgable about dragons as others might be, but she knew enough to know Devith was the proudest vainest most wonderful creature in the world whom just happened to tire a little easier then others might. She would not risk his pride nor his health so with a good deal of flattering and coaxing that a slightly more conservative pace would better allow others to gaze upon his glory they reached the food tables in time.

Only to find a young crimson and hers already there feasting. Leaving the silver to stop in his tracks growl. What was SHE doing here? Now he would have only second best meat! Devith seething approached the table his anger rolling through Hekate like a darkened cloud of smoke as she tried to reason with her lifemate.

"There are plenty good cuts left." Hekate began only to be cut off by Devith.

They arenot the first cuts! She has already had herchoice! I deserve the best! Am I not the best dragon Mine? Devith ended his voice going from commanding and angry to suddenly very soft almost pleading. Surely His didn't think those others were in the right! Sure she thought he was the best! They deserved the best not those others. She would not betray him would she?

The sudden small crack of insecurity in her dragons usually bold facade nearly all, but shattered Hekate's heart as the usually grinning girl wrapped her arms tight around her dragon pulling him close and leveling a glare at any who dared make comment. Snatching up a few good looking pieces she set them before Devith once she was sure they were too small for the silver to choke on them.

"Wait here." She ordered down to Devith who blinked up at her in surprise then puffed his chest up when she suddenly barked at a few of the drudges to get out of her way as she suddenly left his side and dove head long into the throngs of the kitchen. Those jealous wherries could glare at her all they liked and whisper nasty things about her sudden vault of power, but she had her lifemate to tend to.

Where was she going though? Why was she leaving him? Devith piped up creeling and eyeing the pieces she had left him in distaste only pausing to eat one of them to take the edge off.

Then his sharp eyes caught the bright swath of red hair as Hekate nudged and forced her way back out from the kitchens Devith's creels of worry turning into a bugle of pride when he saw the nice fat runners leg slung over Hekate's should and a meatcleaver stuck in her belt. Obviously this had been one of the pieces the drudges had yet to cut and bring out to fill the growing feeding table and stepping up to said feeding table Hekate lowered it from her shoulder letting it land with a thumb as she went about the careful process of trimming the best cuts from it for Devith.

CleverMine, SmartMine, best Mine! We have done well! Devith all, but crooned as he stuffed his face with each fresh cut and creeled for more, his little tantrum having drained him of much needed energy that hopefully food would happily replenish.

"Sorry about that. He's picky." Hekate replied turning to look at Selene and flashing the girl a roguish smile.

Selene watched as the girl who had Impressed the Silver came up to the feeding table and smiled, glad to see another clutchmate nearby. She did stare though when the girl went into the kitchens herself. What do you think that is about, Tessth?
The Crimson looked over as the girl passed and down to Devith, My brother prefers the best quality meat, Mine, though there are plenty of good cuts here.
She blinked as the girl came back with a fine cut of meat yet to be sliced up by the drudges. With her mother being a kitchen drudge she could tell that the meat was high quality. Heck just based on the look that Hers had, she could guess it. She smiled as the girl addressed her and waved lightly before going back to feeding Tessth. "It's no problem. Congratulations on finding Yours, it's always a good thing. What is your name?"

"Thank you. It was~" And Hekate paused for a moment a distant dreamy look in her eyes before Devith's insistant nudging for more meat brought her back to reality as she smiled lovingly down at the silver. "An unexpected pleasure." She finished doling out another good cut for Devith to gobble up.

"My name is Hekate and this wonderful creature here is Devith. If you'd like once I've cut his fill from this you can have the rest I don't think he'll want the bone." She offered pausing head half tilted as Devith spoke up.

No. My sister may have it if she wishes. I will not cut my teeth like a common canine on such thing. Devith added dismissively as he put down another tender and juicy cut his eyes whirling with pleasure. Hekate was after all for a drudge extremely good and portioning out the pieces of the leg and managed to get the better more precise cuts even with a rather unwieldy cleaver.

"He says no that the bone is up for grabs." Hekate finished with a roguish smile turning back to Selene.

Now that Devith had no competition for what he deemed the best of the food he turned his whirling eyes on crimson Tessth in consideration. For a moment he simply stared as if sizing up if she was worth his attention before consenting. How goes you meal sister? Yours seems capable enough. Has she oiled you well? Devith asked making polite conversation though he made it a point to shift as he ate to better allow the sun to catch his gleaming hide so he could be admired.

"I don't believe I caught your name though." Hekate added nodding to Selene politely though one couldn't quite shake the feeling that the ex-drudge was sizing up the other girl in a manner only slightly different from her silver. Almost as if she was picking Selene apart, looking for any sign of weakness.

I've no need of the bone at the moment, thank you. Mine is more than capable and she has oiled me quite well, brother. I see yours has done well. The Crimson knew that her brother was fishing for attention by the way he had positioned himself and merely kept herself in her own regal way.
Selene paused at Hekate's look but in the end brushed it off, "My name is Selene and this little beauty is Tessth. It's nice to meet you. She watched Hekate and Devith for a moment before Tessth's nudging brought her attention back to feeding Hers. "I don't mean to pry, but you used to work in the kitchens, right?"

Indeed Mine has done well though more adequate oil willneed to be acquired. I heard that one of oursisters has impressed a two-legger whom might be knowledgeable of suchthings. Devith replied pausing to give Selene a once over as well. She is not asgood as Mine, but I do believe Your's suits you well sister. I approve. The Silver added turning to accept yet another piece of meat from his though his desperate grabs and nudges had slowed as his belly swelled with food.

"She most certainly is a beauty~" Hekate replied pausing when Devith gave her a rather hurt look.

Am I not the most regal dragon of all Mine? Devith inquired only to be soothed with a loving pat.

"Don't fret Devith you're the handsomest dragon in the Weyr." She added making sure to ease her lifemates vanity.

"Still she's a lovely crimson, I quite like the shade of red on her hide. I wonder if you could dye cloth such a rich color?" She mused before Selene's question brought her back. Flashing the girl a smile, though this one was a bit more teeth then warmth Hekate nodded.

"Yes I did, that is until Devith here snatched me from the stands yesterday." Hekate replied casting the silver a loving look.

I do enjoy my coloring... The Crimson preened at the compliment.
"Your Silver is quite handsome..."At Hekate's "smile" Selene frowned slightly. This girl seemed like she would sooner bite off her head than have a friendly conversation now. "I didn't mean anything by asking. My mom works in the kitchens."
Feeling Selene's discomfort Tessth nudged her hand, Don't let it upset you. You know as well as I that not all people are the friendliest.

"Handsomest dragon in all of Pern I'd wager. At least in my eyes." She joked reaching out to ruffle Devith's headfrill with one loving hand and a grin. At Selene's sudden unease she looked up arching one delicate brow at the girl. In truth Hekate hadn't even realized she'd worried the other girl with her smile, the gesture an unconscious one which tended to lend more bite then warmth to her expressions when her mind was elsewhere.

"Of course you didn't mean anything by asking. You've got every right to ask." Hekate replied with a friendly shrug slicing off another piece for Devith who at this point had slowed in his meal his belly starting to extend and eyes whirling in pleasure.

Of course I'm the handsomest dragon in all of Pern. He replied matter-of-factly as if to consider anyone else was sheer foolishness. Glancing from his rider to Tessth's he tilted his head confused by her behavior.

Sister. Is yours always so jumpy? Not that I can truly blame her Mine is rather striking. Simply your rider seems rather troubled. Perhaps she is hungry? Devith offered looking from Hekate to Selene from where he sat close to his rider's side, his tail wrapped loosely around her leg in a protective and possessive manner.

Mine is not jumpy, brother. Yours should be more wary of the looks she gives others lest it upsets them. Not everyone is as friendly as Mine. Tessth said turning her head to the Silver briefly. The Crimson turned to her rider, Are you well?
Selene smiled down at Hers and stroked the dragonet gently, "Everything is fine, my Tessth." When Tessth slowed in her eating Selene looked at Hekate. "Are you looking forward to the Hatching Feast?"

Devith's eyes whirled a rich red in that moment as he eyed his sibling casting the usually vain silver in a slightly darker light. No one insulted His. No One.

Devith~ Hekate cautioned reaching out to rest a gentle hand on the silver's neck his anger rousing the fire in her own veins.

Glancing up at Hekate instead of snarling at the crimson for her insult Devith merely smirked at his rider a look of understanding between the two as more passed between them in emotions then words. Turning back to Tessth Devith's eyes had calmed to a blue green, but was still flecked with red as he seemed to practically croon in clever cutting pleasure at his next words.

Really sister? And I thought you were supposed to be the wise one of our lot. Yet even I in all my vanity know not to judge solely by appearances. Devith rumbled out in a teasingly pleased purr as he tilted his head back giving his rider a possessively loving look. Queens come hidden in many colored eggs after all. He mused rubbing his little shining head against Hekate's side who simply gave Devith a slightly amused scolding look sensing he'd gone and gotten himself in trouble.

"He's a bit testy in the morning." Hekate replied flashing Selene a brilliant smile the seemed to practically brim over with good natured roguish amusement. "And yes I'm quite looking forward to the Feast. It'll be rather odd though to be the one eating the food rather then serving it." She joked drawing an amused snort from the now full and sleepy silver beside her.

You didn't belong there to begin with Mine. It was only a matter of time before someone came to collect you. It simply stands to reason that I in all my greatness clearly bested any competition to do so. Devith assured her causing Hekate to chuckle. It was true though. While she had worked as a drudge Hekate had hardly been drudge material. In her own eyes she burned to bright for only those in the back halls and skulleries to see her glory.

"Are you looking forward to the Feast Selene?" Hekate asked turning the girl's own question back on her with a smile.
