About Aislin

Age: Twenty
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual [She just assumes she's bisexual.]
Craft/Rank: Harper/Apprentice - Crimson Weyrling

History: Aislin was born the daughter of a Journeyman Harper and a woman from the Harperhall who died during childbirth. However, seeing as her father did not wish to stay at the hall for very long and couldn't take her with him, Aislin was raised by her milk mother there at the hall. She was treated very much like the woman's own daughter and whenever her father did come back, it was always with smiles and presents. In all, most of her childhood was mostly the same as other children. But she learned how to write and read early on, something her father had made sure that would be taken care of.

As she grew up, it was obvious she had inherited her father's singing talent. She was also very talented at writing and fabricating stories. But Aislin never held any real interest in the craft, no matter how talented she was. She preferred to do things she thought were exciting. However, there wasn't much to do that would keep her attention for long at the hall. In fact, because of the lack of exciting things to do, Aislin would end up running around in an attempt to find anything to do. So she was considered to be either quite helpful or annoying by some people.

As soon as she reached ten turns, her father began to spend more time at the Harperhall and it was during this time that he began to teach her more about singing. She found that she did enjoy singing and continued to practice, training her voice as much as possible. Until she finally reached the skill that she was accepted as an Apprentice to the Harper craft. It was then that her competitive personality finally came out. Did that master say that so and so had a better voice? Well then she would work extra hard to show them!

She made quite a few friends and the occasional rival, but it was somewhat obvious that she was a tad bit popular amongst the males and females alike. Something that got her father irritated and her milk mother amused. Though Aislin never understood why they both acted like that. As the turns went by, she lost more and more interest in being a harper. But she continued her apprenticeship, learning more and more things until the day came when she could've walked the tables to become a Journeywoman. She refused to walk, saying she wasn't quite ready for the rank despite the claims offered.

In reality, it was her not wanting to disappoint her father or milk mother that she even stayed in the Harperhall. She wanted to leave, go on some kind of adventure. But all her ties were there at the hall. However, she often day dreamed of life outside the crafthall and what adventures could've been hiding beyond the walls of her home. Turns out, because of her refusal she was going to end up getting to escape the Hall. It was decided that she would be paired with a Journeyman in hopes of her getting much more practical experience.

Atlini Hold was where her new 'teacher' eventually brought her to. In order to get there they got to ride a dragon. A dragon! It was safe to say that the girl almost died with excitement right there. When they arrived at their destination the red head was not keen to get off the dragon. But she reluctantly did. However, it was then that thoughts of what it would be like to be a dragonrider began to appear in her mind. Ah, but before she could continue those thoughts, she was introduced to the place they'd be staying at for a while. Now, she had never been away from the Harperhall and to suddenly be in a whole new place was just..amazing! So before she could even really continue her learning, she was out and about checking out the new place. What an adventure! It was all so exciting! The journeyman found it hard to keep the girl in one spot after that, it seemed she had become more much interested in exploring than to continue her learning of her craft. Eventually, Aislin finally calmed enough to get back to the reason she was brought there in the first place. So the girl went back to her lessons, even if they were starting to get boring in her mind.

Just a few sevendays after reaching her nineteenth turn, Aislin began to hear whispers about a rider from Trine showing up. Curious, the girl went off to search for this visitor; starting with the obvious place - outside. There were no signs of the rider, however, a blue was present. Eyes widened at the sight as she drank it all in, knowing that with that dragon must come all kinds of adventures! How lucky it's rider must be, how proud...oh..it was looking at her! Sure enough, it seemed that the dragon had indeed been looking at her and for some reason she has still yet to discover, she ended up walking closer to get a better look. It wasn't long before a hand was placed on her shoulder and she was caught by the rider. Never in a billion turns had she thought she'd ever, ever be offered a chance to Stand. So when given the offer she jumped at it and somehow convinced her father that if she should fail to Impress she'd be back to finish her training. Maybe.

Description: Aislin has thick, bright red hair that falls just past her shoulder blades. Her bangs tend to fall into her eyes and often times her hair is pulled back into a tail so that it won't get in her way. Her eyes are a very light sapphire color with a small freckle right underneath her left eye. Her skin is neither pale nor tan, but a mixture of both. She stands at five foot six and is about the same size as her father, to her endless amusement. She has a lean and lithe form that could be considered almost athletic. Aislin is usually found wearing trousers as she doesn't see the point in wearing dresses or skirts. [That's mainly because she often tends to trip on the hems.] The only time she'd ever been seen in anything feminine in nature is during special occasions. To some people, she could be considered attractive enough. Though her nose is a bit crooked and if one was ever to catch sight of her without a shirt on[though why would you be watching her while she dresses D<], they would see a rather mild childhood scar on her shoulder. Her face is usually graced with an amused grin, as if she finds something funny about most things.

Personality: Be careful when offering up something that this one might consider fun and exciting; you can bet she'll be the first one lined up and ready to go. She's brave [or perhaps careless] enough at times to act first and ask questions later. This has lead to some rather sticky situations she's barely managed to talk herself out of.

Aislin can be a competitive person, something she isn't always proud of. Especially when it leads up to her getting a temper if things didn't go the way she had hoped. She may not be the best at whatever she attempts to do, but she never lacks in effort. She's very driven in anything she chooses to do, and works very hard to make sure she is at the same level as her fellows.

When it comes to the things she can't help but fail at [because obviously she can't be good at everything, regardless of what she thinks], her fuse is very short. And if given enough time, she could explode in her frustration and lash out at others who are good at the tasks. Though she'll be quick to give a mumbled apology. But, in all, she'll work hard at anything she does and tries to do everything to the best of her ability.

This red head tends to make rivals easily with her competitive nature, regardless if they're on her side or not. But she can easily confuse rivals with friends. She just doesn't see the difference.

This girl has never been very good when it comes to waiting. She's extremely impatient and can get frustrated when any kind of waiting is involved. Unless she has deemed it worth the wait, but she'll still grumble to herself.

When it comes to matters of the heart, this girl fails. Hard. Aislin has never held an interest in anyone her entire life. Was that boy over there flirting with her? She didn't notice, she was busy. Did that girl just confess her love to the red head? She didn't understand what she meant. This girl is very much dense when it comes to the affections of another. And surely this might dishearten some suitors, but don't give up! When it comes to someone who has caught this girl's interest, you can expect her to pursue that. Often. Every time she might see that person, she'll make a point to flirt with them. However, sometimes her flirting goes a bit too far and she'll end up going down that pervy road. She'll blame the fact that she's lived a life surrounded by many men.

Aislin doesn't see any problems in being with the same gender, however. If there's a person out there who could spark some romantic interest in Aislin, then why should she judge them based on their gender?

Now when it comes to people she doesn't like, or who she feels annoy her; it's very obvious. She can either ignore them or she tends to hit them. Did that boy make a comment about her being a dimglow? Yep, you can bet he'll be sporting a bruise on his arm the next day.

Other: While she does have a well trained voice when singing, she doesn't use it very often anymore.

The Dragon

Name: Loveth
Colour: Crimson
Personality: Loveth is you guessed it...a lover, she is far more a lover then a fighter when it comes to her relationships with those around her, kind and sweet she tends to see the good points in everyone she meets and skims over anything bad with barely a thought. A trusting creature Loveth tends to take words at face value and it's certainly not wise to utter the words 'I promise' to this dragon unless you really truly mean them..because Loveth remembers promises and she WILL hold you too them, she might forget everything else you tell her..but she'll remember a promise.

A bit of a chatterbox this crimson will strike up a conversation with almost everyone she runs across and her's will just have to accept that sometimes..Loveth likes to talk to other people too, there's not point being jealous about it however since Loveth makes it no secret that she loves her's the best, if a dragon can be cuddly...Loveth will certainly try, as a hatchling she'll be prone to trying to crawl into laps, as a juve she might try to sleep right up next to her riders cot and as an adult one should expect loving head nuzzles and cooed lullabies.

It's probable that she will rise often once she's matured and while certainly a lover at heart that's not to say she can't be an excellent fighter as well - you see Loveth is not above fighting for what she loves and Loveth loves Pern..and it's dragons and it's people and will do whatever it takes to help them. Loveth and her rider will likely have a hard time choosing their path in life when they reach maturity.

Why Me?
Aislin might have failed at love before...but she certainly won't fail now, at least as long as Loveth can help it, clearly this girl needed some help in that department and who better to help her out then Loveth? While the crimson was certainly drawn to her's outgoing nature and energetic lifestyle there's a pretty good chance that Loveth will try to show Aislin a way to make friends without also making them rival's and she'll almost certainly try to temper her violent reactions once in a while. However it's good to note that her's is willing to stand up and fight when she feels the need and her work ethic is certainly above repute and certainly that can't do anything but help when it comes to fighting for Pern - no matter which direction this pair ends up choosing at maturity.

Loveth recognizes that her sweet and easy going nature might get her in a bit of trouble once in a while - she would be an easy creature to take advantage of and thus chose for herself a partner who would be capable of standing up for her when needed. All in all the two halves make a whole with both dragon and rider strengthening each others weakness and tempering each others faults to make them both better creatures in the end.

Impression

Sweet-as-sin Egg - Everyone talks about just how sweet this egg seems to be, although a bit small this pale violet egg seems to enjoy just about everyone's company male and female alike. You get the impression that the hatchling inside wants to strike up a conversation with you and certainly can't wait to meet you! This egg has placed itself in the center of the clutch - as though trying to be as close to as many of it's siblings as possible. It's tilted slightly towards the outlaying Thunderclap egg as though attempting to call it back to the group.

SkieBorne
Kyrieko

"You all are doing quite well." Narisa murmured to the Candidates standing around her and the eggs.

She was rather proud of the Candidates. And excited for all the new weyrlings. She definitely would make an effort to meet each of them and congratulate them. But first, she needed to move on to the next egg. Gaze traveling along the remaining eggs, she stepped over to the Sweet as Sin, raised the shovel, and gave it a strong thunk.

The egg rolled at that swipe and knocked against the only remaining egg, which also wiggled - a tiny bit - and the Sweet as Sin egg seemed to expand as the hatchling used all her strength to push out. Covered in goo and bits, the crimson emerged chattering almost as much as the black.

SkieBorne
The crimson burbled and stretched her wings again, shaking her head as she blinked and took in the wide world. So much noise! So many smells! So much air!

Inhaling deeply, her eyes whirled a pleasant green-blue with touches of the red of hunger and she surveyed the boys, toddling towards them with unsteady steps. She got about halfway there before she stopped and sat down, tilting her head as she looked them over.

Much of her energy was spent, however, and it was unclear whether she'd changed her mind or if she'd simply run out of steam.

SkieBorne
The brightly coloured crimson seemed unsure whether she wanted to go to stay and, after several frightening heartbeats, she finally rose and toddled a few paces towards the girls. Her efforts, however, had taxed her too much and she stumbled, forced into another sit.

Crying out loudly, her voice echoed well in the Sands. Tilting her head back, she cried out again, fear creeping into her voice.

At least until she spotted Hers.

Aislinmine! You are so far away! Your Loveth is so tired and hungry! She bugled again, full of hunger and need and care.

They were finally finished! And without either Captain or Shade disturbing her this time! Nope, she finally remembered to make sure both little ones were fed and oiled before finishing her project. That made sure that they were napping quite hard when she left. A proud smirk pulled at the red-head's face as she admired her work as she held them up towards the light; so she could fully appreciate her new pipes, of course. Out of all the instruments she had learned at the Harper Hall, the pipes had been her favorite. There were many different kinds; of course, but these, these were made by her own hand. Special in a way that she would never bother to explain to others. Aislinmine? The hesitant voice of Loveth pulled her from the proud moment, causing the red-head to glance over at her crimson. She was never hesitant about talking. Or anything really.

Furrowing her brows, she lightly dropped the pipes into her lap and focused on her lifemate. "What's wrong Loveth?" Teeth sunk into her lip as she chewed thoughtfully. What could have her wonderfully outspoken dragon sound so...unsure of herself? Why did you want to be a rider? Well..that was...strange. "Why did I want to be a rider?" Eyes blinked as she tilted her head and cast another worried glance over to Loveth. "Well, besides the fact that if I didn't come, I would never have met you..." Her chest swelled with at the thought of never having found Loveth, and how her life wouldn't feel..complete. Not like now. It was a somewhat..frightening thought. The crimson was quick to offer up reassurance, knowing she would've found her way to Aislin sooner or later. There was no one else for her.

Yes, but why did you want to be a rider. The red-head twisted around until she could stare at her partner, a mix of curiosity and worry still clearly written on her face. "I suppose...I wanted to be a rider because of the adventures. Being able to fly, getting to fight against Thread, being a hero." Tilting her head, she gave it a bit more thought. "The idea of being in the sky while riding on a dragon as they flamed any threats, it was....too tempting to not try." Sapphire eyes shifted back to stare into the whirling eyes of her Loveth. Her concern rising as she took in the slightly yellow tone her gaze had taken.

So you wanted to fight Thread. "Yes. To protect those I care about, and maybe some of those who are too fool-headed to protect themselves." A wry grin pulled at her lips. "Not to forget, to be able to fight against those who would betray us." Both dragon and rider paused as the dark thoughts of the battles and losses from the revolt returned to their minds. Well, mostly Aislin's mind. She didn't think she'd ever be able to forget all that. Nightmares still came now and then. But there is another way to fight Thread. We do not have to flame in order to protect.

Ah. That was why the crimson had been so quiet. Due to her color Loveth and herself had to make a difficult choice. Would they join the ranks of the wings and flame, or would they stay home and breed instead.

Her hands balled into fists as she tried to keep the frown from her face. Loveth...sweet, gentle Loveth was not the kind to fight. Aislin had known this for a while. She loved everyone, and while it frustrated the girl to no end, there was no way she could ever be angry at her for it. But Aislin, she was a fighter! She couldn't just..stay home and gamble on if Loveth was going to clutch or not! She knew that crimsons did not clutch often. If they choose to breed, what was she supposed to do? Sit at home and twiddle her thumbs, hoping that this was the time Loveth clutched? What about the times when she didn't? It would be hard on the soft heart of her dragon, how could she let that happen?

But...it wasn't entirely her choice. Ultimately it was Loveth's choice on if she would chew the stone or not. The time limit on their choice was coming to a close. Their decision would have to be soon. After the revolt...Aislin wanted nothing more than to fight. Fight Thread, fight against those who would dare threaten her Loveth. A growl escaped her throat at the thought, it went unnoticed by the weyrling until she felt the gentle touch of Loveth's affection soothing her anger. Her eyes raised to meet the blue whirling ones she loved so much before she sighed and tossed her pipes to the ground next to her.

Pushing herself up, she promptly walked over and threw her arms around the crimson's neck. No, Loveth was not the fighter Aislin had dreamed of flying through the skies and fighting with. But she was hers and she would support which ever choice she made. Even if it was hard to swallow for the red-head. This is our home, mine. I know you want nothing more than to fight to defend it. I am willing to do so as well. But... The crimson shifted slightly, tugging her rider with her. There are many fighters here. They will fly through the skies and they will flame what threatens us most. There we would just be one of many, but here, here we can do so much more.

If anyone had been around, they would've been able to feel the love and certainty radiating off in waves from the pale crimson. We can bring together dragon and rider. Wouldn't that be lovely, mine? To find the partners of others? That is a good way to help our home. To help protect. There was always another way to help, always a silver lining, always a good thing out of any choice there was to be had. At least, through the eyes of Loveth there were. Aislin felt her heart would burst out of the love and pride she felt right then. While this was not what she had planned her life to be...there was no way she could ever say no to hers.

"Then this will be our path, love." Pulling from the embrace, she plopped herself down against Loveth and grinned slightly as her partner curled around her. "And you can bet we'll show Benden, Malvrin, and Trine who the best sharding crimson pair is!" Rumbling in amusement, the dragon nuzzled lovingly against the red-head's side. Also, you do not have to twiddle your thumbs. I heard Courath talking about how hers does this thing called knitting. You could do that! I am sure you would be really good at it~

Groaning, she wrinkled her nose. "I'm a harper. Not a weaver! Stay at home and knit...psssh."
