Cloven hooves stampeded across the ground like a flurry of pink petals, their motion swift and driven by the dark owner. It was a motion of the hunt, and for a predator such as the male Kalona giving chase, the sweet sight of petals were the last thing to get distracted by. With his tail twisting lively behind him, and his dark wings tucked in close for gaining speed, he was more akin to a black viper with the intention to feast. And the unfortunate target of his chase was making an outstanding run, as the plump hare zigzagged frantically for escape. Even for a being a fierce and daunting predator, the Kalona stood little chance against the smaller creatures ability to make sharp turns.
Stubbornly persisting, Soul Lexis snirked with clench fangs as the adrenaline rush kept him moving. It was the hare's own idiotic choice to lop through the open fields, leaving him an open and coverless target. And without trees or bushes to block his path, it was a a matter of seconds before Soul gained on the animal. A well aimed hoof, and the hunt was over. Grinning at his small victory while still gasping for breath, Soul took the moment to fan his wings. The collected body heat was almost overbearing, now that he was still enough to realize it. But the price of a midday snack and daily exercise was hardly something he could complain about.
Now to make certain that no pesky scavengers tried to interfere with his peace.

The winged mare could smell blood in the air. It was a smell that was like a beacon for her nose and she always knew when a kill or a recent attack was made. She loved the metallic smell and even better the taste of it in her mouth. She couldn't get enough of it and this hint of it in the air was driving her crazy. Now she was hungry, she felt like she could eat and entire deer whole right now. Licking her fangs in one clean swoop, she walked slowly following the scent in the air. This reminded her of many times where she would sneak up on wolves or another predator getting herself a large meal instead of some small rabbit. She wasn't a pushover and always was up for a challenge, but if this was another kalona she wouldn't scavenge. She hated stooping that low, so she rarely did it unless she really had to. There was only one or two occasions when she found it necessary.
She walked slowly until something began showing in the distance. A bulky tough looking figure with bright colors came into view. Definitely a kalona and he looked like he wasn't someone who really preferred talking. He was the one who had the kill there was no doubt in her mind at all.
"My my my..."
She hissed a little under her breath as she walked closer to him, but kept a safe distance. She kept her guard up in case he went and attacked her. She observed him and studied him seeing he was definitely more kalona then the other she met. He had it all except for the darker terrifying colors. He looked interesting, but that could only go so far.

After a handful of expanded breaths, the dark Soquili glanced down at his meal with gleaming, teal eyes. Go figure, it appears he was more looking for entertainment than sustenance. His appetite was hardly accountable, he mused as he poked boredly at the carcass. His adrenaline, on the other hand, was still an active force that he felt rushing through his legs and pulsing in his neck. It was an unfortunate event that the fallen hare didn't have any kin accompanying him....
Nostrils flared, and Soul glared with a sharp glance over his shoulder. Pelts tended to be a stinking factor, and in the open fields it made it all the more obvious when someone had company. What he hadn't expected was it to be the company of another Kalona....after all, how often did you see a group of cooperative Kalona socializing? And dare say, she was stepping closer? Well then, Soul was a gambling man, and with his pulse still high he couldn't deny facing this surprising change head on.
Quirking his brow in a natural reflex and stretching a his mouth to a smirk, the Kalona began walking forward to meet the other. It was a bold an open move, easily considered a stupid action. But Soul wasn't the type to tenderly poke at a situation; he simply wasn't that patient. Besides, it always made for a thrill to see if the other individual would squirm or charge. He may be a slim Kalona, but attitude was everything and he put that on the front line. If all else fails, he had sharp fangs and hooks to rely on.
"And what's this? A bloody maiden to tempt my wiles?" And for teasings sake, he gave her a lewd glance over. Was she here to fight over that pathetic meal?

"Actually no. I'm just passing through, but I had to at least stop to see what was causing that beautiful smell of blood in the air. It's ashame that it's from a animal so pathetic and nothing....grand."
She said to him in a snarky way before flicking her wings a little bit until they fell back into place on her back. She didn't usually socialize like this and if she did it didn't last for long. Why talk? Most of the time it was about nothing. How was your day? Where are you off to? Kill anything good lately? She didn't care about any of that. Why would she answer it or ask that type of question. Now she was staring at a kalona male who didn't really look all that pleased that she was interrupting his meal which she honestly didn't care about.
"I was beginning to think kalona were scarce around here...I have only met weaker individuals and breeds..Then a kalona who claimed to be all fierce when in fact they were more Cerynei then kalona. If I just cut off his wings he would have been a deer."
She hissed as she dug her hoof into the ground underneath her. What on earth was she doing? She never rationalized things unless she wanted something, but what could this stallion offer her?

To this remark, Soul paused in his walk and gave a bowed chuckle. It was a low sound, and was more in tune to sarcasm than honest humor. "Pathetic? Is that what you call it?" He peered through his pink fringe at the other, as if trying to guess her age due to the harshness of her comment. "Be it so, it's still something that sparked your senses into a lull. Did it not? And besides that," he spoke with a shrug, "without our society of 'pathetics' to trample on, we'd be nothing but bored pathetics ourselves."
He flexed out a wing and used its spines like grotesque fingers, stretched and pointing in the direction of the carcass. "But by no means, don't let that stop you from enjoying what's left of it." It was a smooth taunt that he expected no reply for, but couldn't help making. When it came to the egos of others (and himself) then it was all just one entertaining mind game to him. How his opponent would participate, however, was always the question.
"Ah yes, very depressing isn't it? So many confused and unfortunate half breeds roaming around." Soul let his tail coil behind him as he stepped forward once more, his pace casual and timed. Then he quirked his brow and gave a slow grin. "In fact, you would look as if you fall into the same category." His own wings rippled then, remaining close to his body.
"Do not fret though, creatures like yourself are soon...corrected overtime."

Alestra heard his remark making her sneer with slight anger. She didn't like being compared with those mindless half-breeds roaming around. Yes she wasn't a full kalona, but it was only by a little percentage. Just because she didn't have the tail didn't mean she was any less a kalona then the stallion standing before her. Pure breeds always bashed her for what she was and she didn't care most of the time, but it always put a twinge on her sending her anger through the roof.
"Actually I don't. Just because I don't have the same tail as you doesn't mean I'm some mindless half-breed. Yes, I'm a half-breed because of my mother's side, but everything about me is kalona but my tail."
She hissed at the stallion before her before looking away. She didn't really care all that much to argue with someone like him. This was probably why she didn't get along with her own kind either. They were always so judgemental to other breeds or even those who were considered half-kalona by a tiny bit and not something major.
"Very true, but no I don't want anything that is left. I'm not a scavenger. I prefer to actually hunt my own meals."
She said to him narrowing her eyes a little bit.

Oh look, this one had a temper. But honestly, what more could one expect from a female? It was enough to make Soul chuckle to himself, not bothering to describe his entertaining muses to the other. That would just be adding wood to the fire. "Hm, your standpoint is...interesting. But all the same, you are a carrier of such humiliating genetics. There's no ridding yourself of that blemish." Then he gave a half-hearted grin, just to taunt the mare. "Such a shame too, for an otherwise viewable specimen."
At her insistence of refusing the meal, the stallion proceeded to collect the carcass. With his snake-like tail, the rabbit was scooped from the ground and hung like a battered rag. It would prove a useful snack id he decided to travel later through the day.
"Haha, is that pride speaking? It must be so, for who else would turn down a free meal." As mush as Soul boasted and teased about the superiority of the Kalona species, he himself lacked such a sense of pride. It was a trait he could only look on and judge from others. But what he'd seen thus far was more like symptoms of a bad illness. And just like an illness, he viewed pride as something that could risk one's survival.

The mare growled under her breath from the words of the stallion before her. Was did he mean by viewable specimen? Was that a compliment or an insult? She was assuming it was a compliment, but she didn't like those either and would have rather taken the insult instead. "Yes it's a blemish I will never rid myself of it seems. Kalona are a very close-minded breed." She said to him with a slight click of her tongue. She was a little angry, but she wasn't going to let this stallion get to her. What would be the point of that anyway? He was just another proud pure bred kalona looking for a fight.
"It is my pride talking and I know it's brazen of me, but I also don't care." She told him watching the carcass be hung up. She tilted her head leaving her golden eyes to just stare at it before turning her attention back to the creature still lingering around her. He didn't seem to share the same pride as her and it didn't bother her one bit. She saw it as a flaw of her own and she knew it was something that wasn't a good quality, but it was how she was raised.
Amusing this stallion was and for a kalona, he was rather on the bright color side even it it was small details on his coat. It was still blinding for the mare though. "Journeying?" She asked flicking her wings slightly on her back since he appeared to be saving the rest of the carcass for later it seemed.

Daring to test his limits (and what could he say, Soul got a thrill from danger), the stallion took a few more steps closer to the other individual. Not too close, and with few steps that were paced casually and self-assured. Sure, Kalona were a feared breed in these lands, but even they could behave civilized enough to converse with one another. They weren't savage Skinwalkers, after all. Bemused, Soul then lifted a brow at the mare's reply. "You speak of both your bloodlines with scorn. Or so it sounds like. So which of your halves do you prefer more, hm?"
A shadow flitted over him, and the stallion peered up with wanton interest. A hawk could be seen soaring in the crisp air far above them, its form a dark silhouette against the sunlight. It was on the hunt for something, that much was certain by how it circled pointedly in one section of the sky. And without much warning, the avian clipped its wings to its torso and dived like a falling stone. The shadow fell once more across Soul's form, swift and small, but just enough for the male to have to blink. The glow from his eyes dimmed like a weak hellfire, and his chain collar gleamed as if to cheer for the bird's incoming victory. Whether the avian caught his prey or not, Soul could not tell from this distance and the tall grass beyond.
"But of course. Sorry, but I simply can't stay here to feast your eyes on my sights." The male chuckled, hardly caring to be serious if it wasn't necessary. Glancing back at the mare, however, he couldn't help but wonder now. "Why ask? Am I intruding on one's territory?" Was it her own, and she just wasn't telling?

It was obvious which bloodline she liked better and most of the time she hated that she had a fluffy tail instead of the one this kalona male was sporting. Some saw it as a weakness because she wasn't pure blood, she wasn't strong or malicious. This was all untrue and she spent years showing others just how untrue all that way. It was stupid to think of her as someone who was frail just because she was regular as well as kalona. Giving a laugh to the thought, she looked to the male and shifted her weight onto the other side. "I favor my kalona blood a whole lot more. Even though I have some issues with being a half-breed, I do not hate myself for it. I know I could never be physically a pureblood even though I hold that same demeanor as them. Half--breeds can do just as much harm as a pure blood." She said to the other in a low hiss before looking away.
When the other said he was leaving, this made her turn back and give him a small glare. His ego was way to high, but that was alright cause this meant she would be around silence again. "Go on if you want to move on. I could use this time to think and possibly rest for a little bit." She told him looking away once more. This whole meeting made her begin to think about what was more important.
(( So is this fin? xD ))
