Dark x Deception

User Image
Having decided to go for a walk at twilight Luin still wasn’t ready to turn around and head back to the village yet even though it was now the middle of the night. The wind tickled the belly high grass of the plains while the stars above twinkled and shown with their own beauty that never faded. Having come from a different plane of existence Luin still found the fact the stars could only be seen above her and only during the ‘night’ a bit strange. Stopping to stare the stars she wondered how her herd back home was. Did they miss her or did they not even notice her gone once she had escorted the human home and found this lovely place? Curiosity and amusement at the human made her want to stay here so she had, but now that she was here she wanted to see everything and still feel like she was at home. She felt a bit greedy in that aspect but still she had found happiness here and wasn’t ready to rush home just yet. There was always something to see here.

There was pounding on the ground as powerful hooves traversed the land. Mane and tail whipped behind the equine as he ran trying to keep the same path as the stars above of him. His family was constantly moving an in order for him to track them he often slept in the morning as they did. His eyes watched the skies with such an intensity that he almost lost himself in the run. He only looked down for a moment when his eyes fell on something blue, illuminating...and gorgeous. The stallion was running so fast that he had to swerve before hitting the other form. He stumbled on his front legs rolling his body in a way that wouldn't hurt him. Shadow let himself roll on his back legs resting as he looked up at the stars. His chest was heaving and sweat started beading down his body. The stallion shook his head a little trying to get his sweaty, plastered hair from his face. He only hoped that the other he almost ran into was all right.

Dark x Deception

Staring at the stars she could almost hear the sound of hooves just like when she galloped in the stars with her herd. Did it sound like they were coming closer? Ears twitching she realized that the sound was coming from the ground near her not the sky above. Turning her head she saw a rush of purple and reacting she reared up and neighed in a panic. She kicked out while at the same time trying to move back. As a result she almost fell over. It took her a moment to steady herself, as a result she stayed on her hind legs for a moment before coming back down to all fours; her hooves bit deeply into the dirt when she came down. Her blue eyes scanned the plain and spotted a purple Azrein panting and shaking his head. It looked so strange and funny that Luin had to laugh. Moving through the grass she came closer to the stallion. Looking down at him with the soft light of the moon behind her Luin wondered if he was alright. “Are you well?” She lowered her head and touched her nose to his to get the male to stop shaking his head.

Shadow had heard her cries and shut his eyes tightly wondering if maybe she had been hurt. He felt like his world was spinning and there was no stopping it apparently. That is until he felt a pressure on his nose. He peeked his eyes open to see the mare's shiny blues...and the moon haloed around her frame. He tilted his head a moment still feeling his nose touched to hers. "I....I should be asking you that question, Lady Moon." Shadow gave a bit of a stutter taking some deep breaths to calm down. The fact that she was so pretty and so close made it a little difficult as well. "So...Are you well?" Shadow managed to flash a smile as he rolled losing contact with her nose regrettably to lift himself up. He shook the loos grasses off of his frame as he got a better look at her. She reminded him of the stars and the moons in the skies. What would she be doing here on earth?

Lady moon? Well that was the first time anyone had ever called her such. Wouldn’t this one be shocked if he knew of her real origins? The thought made her giggle. “I am well. A bit shocked and surprised but well enough.” She watched him shake the grass off himself. He was a magnificent stallion. She loved the fact he had stars on his coat. “Are you from the heavens above?” She gestured with her head to the celestial markings on him and then to her stars above them both. She smiled at him when she asked. After all she knew nothing about this male and didn’t want to be rude at all. She shifted her weight and looked around for any other surprises that might run into her. Nothing. She wondered why the stallion was out here all alone running in the dark. He didn’t seem panicked or worried so nothing must be chasing him.

"Well I apologize for that, Lady Moon. I didn't mean to shock you." He looked down quite embarrassed of his folly before looking back to meet her beautiful gaze. His question caught him off-guard as he struggled for an answer. "That would be a great honor if I was, but no m'Lady. I was born as all were on this plane. The stars are my family simply because I had no others to guide me growing up. My mother died after birthing me." Shadow said with a hint of sadness looking up toward the sky. "She was pure black with a star marking on her forehead much like mine...so naturally I turned to the stars to help me get through. I have no clue who my sire is or was." His tail flicked as a gave a gentle whicker before looking again toward her. Pardon my manners, m'Lady. My name is Shadow." He gave her a deep bow - a sign of respect - before allowing himself to straighten out to meet her gaze again. If I may, Lady Moon, I can tell, however, that you come from the much higher and beloved place. Tell me, m'Lady, what you can of your home. It would be an honor to hear from one such as yourself." He watched her carefully and with much adoration and attention but respect and distance as well. He didn't want to upset her though he did want to learn as much as he could. There was just something unearthly about her that she couldn't be from this place...she just couldn't.

Dark x Deception

“Tis mine own fault for not keeping my eyes on the ground when I should know better.”
Looking at the male perhaps his family had some connection to the celestial herds? Well with his mother gone then they would never know. Luin thought of her time in the other plane. Should could remember no such mare and she was certain she would have remembered the sight of a single star in a black void. “Shaddow? Would more fit thy lady mother than yourself. Still if it is what you are known by so be it.” How could he know that she was not of this place? She did not think she stood out so much. After all she lived with a human who had a horned and winged Azrein that had a coat that looked like falling snow. She had to know what made him say such things. “What makes you think that I am not from this land o bright shadow?” She tossed her head playfully wondering how she could possibly describe her home when she finally got to it. There was nothing here that she had seen like it. Racing along the path of a shooting star had taken. Seeing the whole of the cosmos as they truly were and not this flat oblique view she saw when she looked up at the sky in this land. The way the light of a star burned so bright before it finally collapsed on itself and from a distance the most extravagant of colors and shapes wove into themselves. The closest way to describe her land was in the phrase of a question how did you describe a sun to one who has never seen it before?

Shadow couldn't help but give a sheepish grin. "I suppose we are both at some degree of fault, Lady Moon." At her observation, he felt himself feel weighted by some sort of trouble. "I...did not name myself. I was named because the shadows were more comfortable for me...and because I lurked in them, it was deemed by the herd that my mother was a part of to call me such. I was told her name was Stargazer....and that she was a mare with her head not only in the clouds but in the stars, but she was a great asset to the herd. Her death was taken hard by those around her, and I was to blame. But you cannot blame one that wasn't asked to be born, so I took the idle threats and moved on." Shadow wasn't exactly sure what made him spill his guts to this female but he had a feeling that he could trust what she said and who she was...

That is until she asked him that question. His gaze fell over her frame as he tried to picture where else she could be. Soon enough he allowed his eye to fall as he chuckled. "Forgive me then, m'Lady. Perhaps I was wrong. You just...have an aura about you that screams goddess. I should watch my accusations before I speak. I apologize. Sometimes I get a little excited." His tail flicked behind him in mild irritation at himself. Shadow was so sure she was something else that he didn't even dare to think that she was born here. There were azrein that looked so much like they could be from other places, but he felt it in his gut that she didn't belong her...maybe he was going crazy after all. His nostrils flared a little as he gazed at her with gentle and curious eyes.

That was certainly a cute grin Shaddow had. Luin was surprised since she would not have expected such a look on him. It made her want to tease him a bit but that desire was discarded as she listened to him. He was right of course no one could ask to be born, but one could wallow in self-pity or turn to others with hated. He had lived a hard life and it was unfair that such should have happened to him. Still he seemed such a nice male perhaps the part of his mother that made her such an asset to the herd was something the son had inherited and make him the way he was.

She sighed aloud. “No, do not apologize, you are not wrong. I am indeed not of this plane. I merely wondered what made you think such of me.” She looked at her body. It wasn’t so strange to her and the human she bonded to also never once mentioned her appearance as odd or unusual. Turning back to the male she smiled. “There is always a reason to get excited in this land. There are many wonders here even if I do not know them all.” She moved next to the male and nosed him in the shoulder as a form of encouragement since he seemed to have dropped in spirits a little. “You asked about my home, and I never did answer. I am not certain how to answer you. There are many wonders of my own home land, different in nature to the ones here. Impressive none the less.” Moving back she looked back up at the stars wishing she could simply take Shadow and show him her home, though bringing others with her would be impossible. Perhaps she could ask her bonded surely the half elf would have a way to explain it since she had not come from Luin’s home land.

She was ever so sweet and her smile made him wish he could put that on her maw forever. The mare was quite charming and reminded him a lot of his mother, stars rest her soul. He flicked his ears forward a little feeling better after recanting the tale of his origins. Not many hung around long enough to hear so to have her here with him was a great comfort. It was an even greater comfort when he found out he wasn't wrong about her! He couldn't contain his excitement as he gave another grin, his heart gladdened at his discovery.

"M'Lady, my heart soars to hear of your true words! I cannot fathom to think of how one such as you could find something here wondrous as this. But I suppose it is two folded for I find much wonder in the heavens where you came from. If you desire, m'Lady, I would be happy to show you what this plane has to offer one such as wondrous as you." Shadow danced a little coming forward to nudge her neck as she nudged his shoulder as if to say 'Thank you for sharing such a secret with me!'. The female had yet to say her name, but Shadow cared not at the moment. He was in the presence of one of the wondrous creatures that had been of the stars. How could she yearn to not to back? "I understand how you feel. Here, this plane can be described in simple terms and adjectives that one can easily think and compare other things to. But I am sure it is much more difficult for where you come from much be so much more grand and vibrant and full of such light and life. I'm not saying there isn't the same things here, but...well it is hard to explain isn't it?" Shadow gave a whicker of a chuckle shaking his head a little. The spot where she touched his shoulder felt cool and warm all at the same time and it seem to shine slightly for the spot she nosed had one of his many stars about him. The large one seemed to glow as if in response to the mare in front of him. Could it be possible that Shadow's mother had been a fallen galaxy that came to Earth? The stallion dare not have thought of it in all of his years here for he was so plain and boring unlike the mare who stood before him in all of her vibrant and universal beauty and grace. "Shall we take a walk while we converse, Lady Moon? Here, we can't see the whole sky in one sitting such as you can. You must move to get closer look at the celestial beings above. It's why I run so much. To keep up with them, my herd." He looked up at them with another wide and child-like grin before gazing back to her magnificent form.

So excitable. Luin was charmed by him. He seemed to take such amazement from her origins. “I would love a guide in this land. I would gladly accept your offer Shadow of the stars.” She deemed his such due to his fascination with the stars above and the fact he himself claimed none knew his sire. It may well have been the stars for all it mattered. Still it seemed fitting with his coat. As he nudged her she felt a warmth suffuse through her. She found she really liked the sensation. “Yes this land is hard to describe to those unfamiliar with it just as my own is hard to speak of to one who has never seen it.” She chuckled and looked at the sky. He was right the sky moved slowly but it moved non the less. She could feel it in her bones. Nodding she stared to walk the way the male had been running at first. “I am not unopposed to walking and speaking. In truth I do not think you need to run as much as you do, but the land here does not keep up with the stars. That much is true.” In the distance they were heading she knew lay the human village her bonded lived in. Perhaps this stallion had a bonded of his own? If so he would know of the amazingness of this plane. “Tell me Shadow are all that familiar with humans?” She thought of a way to describe them and her amusing little bonded kept popping into her mind. “They have two legs and make such strange faces.” She giggled. “Still they have such tender hearts, despite their voice. At least the one I know does.” Tossing her head she thought of all the grumbling Reo had went it came to things save the Azrein who bonded to her. It seemed strange to her, but then humans and other such creatures of this plane where strange. She had seen what Alu-lote had told her were birds, and human dwellings called houses. Such strange things and yet it was due to her bonded that Luin had come down from the stars and decided to stay for a time. She didn’t know if Shadow knew much of humans, but if he did and found them scary than she would warn him of the village ahead so they could skirt its edge, it he did not mind them then they could stroll through the village with ease. After all it was doubtful that they would meet any humans up this late at night. Above in the sky the stars twinkled while she and Shadow walked beneath them.

Shadow of the stars? Never had anyone given him a title as blessed and as grand as she just did. It made him swoon slightly wondering if he would ever hear such a thing again. As they strode forward, he tried to give her space and was yet intoxicated by wanting to keep close to her. It was so exciting and so thrilling and so new to find one such as she and to even be in her vicinity! And to think she wanted him to be her guide of this world? Fantastical! His tail twitched with slight excitement and yet was keen on hearing all she had to say, however his voice remained calm and steady as it could as he conversed with the Lady Moon...which reminded him..."That it is true. I think running was something my mother did. They say it was in her blood to shoot across the fields much like a star would shoot across the sky. She was full of life and such energy." Shadow kept a cool head as he spoke about his mother. This was the first time he ever really opened up to anyone about her and it brought a sense of pride that he retained so much information about the mare he never and would never know. "Forgive me my lady, but I believe I never got your name...unless you rather me call you Lady Moon?" His head tilted a moment before catching her next question. "Ah yes. I am familiar with the humans. Where I stay there is a human female that takes care of all azrein who come her way and are willing to receive assistance from a human. Her name is Athari and she hails from a lawless jungle called the Amazon. She is a complicated sort but her heart is pure. Athari can be a bit of a hermit seeing as she lives far from the others but within a day's travel from the castle." Shadow gave a brief nod before a snort as they strolled along quietly underneath the blanketed sky of stars. It was peaceful, calming, and charming even. "Are you bonded to this human? I myself am not, but I see nothing wrong with them. Athari is bonded to two - a white mare named Nailiah with long, long ruby red hair and a tan stallion named Alistair. He has interesting markings and bat wings! It's been wondered if Nailiah and Alistair would mate since they belong to one human, but of course everyone has their own fates and decisions." The stallion kept pace noticing the outskirts of the human village up ahead. No wonder she asked about the humans. Her compassion for his well being made him feel all the more warmer and safer with this mare from the moon. She was indeed a wonderful sort!

“Yes she sounds much like a star to me.” She laughed happily. “In truth your name for me is kind to my ears. My name is Luin Olos Ithil Mallen. It is a name I chose from the mind of my bonded when I met and chose her. It has a meaning close enough to the name you call me.” Ithil didn’t deter from her course as she headed to the village. It seemed Shadow had no more problem with humans than she did. It made her happy. Perhaps she should introduce Reoakee to him. It seemed Alu-lote was always bringing others home. She could only imagine the look on her bonded’s face if she did for once. “That sounds like a nice human indeed. Yes I am bonded to the human I discussed before. I wonder if that is a trait amongst humans. You see my bonded is also keeps too herself. She is fun to tease and torment. There is one other Azrein who she bonded to. I do agree with your statement though you see I cannot see myself matting to her. Though I do find I think of her children as part of my own herd. So the fate of myself may well be different than that of Nailiah and Alistair.” She wondered what bat wings looked like but she decided not to ask. They probably looked something like Alu-lote’s wings.

As they approached the village on its edge a few minutes’ walk for a human was a small shop nestled in the woods. Behind it were tall plant hedges that helped obscure the view for humans. She looked back at Shaddow. “Are you hungry? I know there are fruit trees in the garden behind this place. If you would like we could get a bite or two and then move forward once more. I am certain running is tiring for you, but a short reprieve will not make you lose the stars you follow.” She wasn’t very hungry but perhaps Shadow was. After all he had spent his time and energy running at top speed to chase the stars. Surely that would make any Azrein tired or hungry. Luin simply too it for granted that Reo and Alu-lote were sleeping. After all they had been out and about all day while she had rested not feeling much interest in the daytime activities of the village. It didn’t really matter if they were up or not anyway. Luin was going to pass through if Shadow needed or wanted food. If he didn’t then she wouldn’t bother. Looking at him she liked how his dark legs made it so that his body seemed to melt out of the night air. If he ran she was certain he could be mistaken for a star racing across the land. Did he know that she wondered? If not she could always point it out later.

Shadow couldn't help but smile at the thought of his mother being a Star Child. It gladdened his heart slightly to know that maybe, when she died, she was up there running across the galaxy much like the shooting star she was in life. His ears flicked catching her name, promoting it to memory. "Luin Olos Ithil Mallen. It is quite...gorgeous I must say. It suits you and even more so your bonded for having it within her mind. I will call you whichever one you decide for me to." Shadow wanted her to choose for his simple name he gave her could not compare to the name her bonded had helped the mare conceive. The male's tail flicked idly giving a slight chuckle. "It might be. I suppose eventually if I see you more than once, our humans will eventually meet as well as the company we keep. I'm sure it would be a fun occasion." The stallion felt the happiness in his whole face in eyes at the excitement of just seeing the Moon Mare again. At her comment about the mating, he gave a quick nod. "Oh, aye. Everything's different for everyone. I just wish the three of them the best."

The walk within the human village was strange for Shadow. He had not been in one for quite some time and even though it was dark, quiet, and empty, it still felt alien for him to be here. His nostrils flared taking in the scents of the day - some old and some fairly new. At her question, he turned to her shaking his head offering a smile. "Your concern worries me, but I am all right. I have honed my body to go without such things for days on end. For the most part I only eat if I need to. But thank you. I appreciate the offer to rest." His eyes watched her for a brief moment quite calmed down from when she first met him. Shadow finally had a lid on his excitement for meeting such a wonderful mare and still couldn't believe how he managed to be in the right place at the right time. He certain thanked his mother for she truly must be his lucky star looking out for him.

Dark x Deception

He was a quick one to learn. Luin usually had to emphasize the name to get other’s to know it. “I don’t mind whether you call me Arwen Ithil or Luin Olos Ithil Mallen. It makes little difference. I enjoy the sound of your voice calling out either.” Luin realized she had use terms Shadow may not know. “Arwen means lady by the way. I thank you for your sweet words about my name. My bonded had them drifting in her mind though not on the surface. I took them from her mind when she ended up in my homeland of the stars. So while the words for my name where in her mind I picked them and the order of them. I made it simple for her to understand so she wouldn’t panic. She was a bit.. distraught at ending up in a different plane. Making a name in a language she knew made things so much easier for her mind to take hold of.” Her bonded really was simple. There were times the woman missed what was right in front of her nose. Reoakee never once questioned where the name came from she merely accepted it. “I think my bonded and the human you speak of should meet. It would be most entraining.” Shadow seemed so joyous it was infectious. Oh how being around him made her heart light. It was odd because she thought she was happy enough before. Shadow just made this world all the more intriguing.

“Very well. I suppose it’s for the best. This way I don’t have to awaken my bonded or risk waking the others. Alu-lote my bonded’s other Azrein has a habit of bringing in others and offering them some shelter in this land for as long as they wish it.” Luin smiled and kept walking into the village. Her pace was an easy canter. If Shadow was tired this would give him time to rest without stopping him from keeping up with the stars so dear to him. “Should you pass by again I assure you; you would be welcomed.” Well now at least he knew where her bond’s shop was. A part of her wondered if once he left he would never come back. That would make her sad, she liked his smile. Ahead was the river that flowed out of the Fresya woods and down into the Sandar Lake eventually. Of course that would be a few days run at top speed in the least.
