Crossing a small brook Sharsa looked around this place was a wasteland. There was some sparse vegetation and a few small animals but for the most part the place was pretty barren. There would be no one around and that was just what Sharsa wanted. She needed some time to think to plan out her next move. She had gone to the infuriating mare’s home a few times now and each time it drove her more and more into the depths of depression. She wanted a place to belong. Someone to tell her she had done a good job with something. A family of her own. Well they didn’t have to be hers persay. Abducting some other mare’s little ones would be a fun way to get a family. Sharsa supposed she would just have to take them young enough so they wouldn’t remember to make things easier. Maybe that was what she should do. Yes then she could so that good little hooves that one didn’t need to have a human to have a happy life. The way the stupid winged freak went on you’d think that all there was to life was humans, foals, mates, and food. Sharsa ground a dirt clod into dust beneath her hoof. Where was the purpose, where was the challenge in that? She wanted more from life. She wanted power and belonging. The only question was where could she find it, and once she did how could she hold it?

There was a gentle hiss as the gray mare crossed the threshold of their family's territory. The reptilian mare sauntered slowly through the brush following her for a moment and keeping to the back. By the mare's stature and scent, she was agitated. For whatever reason why? There was a chuckle as the spiked azrein made herself known coming from the brush from behind. A small squirrel had the misfortune of getting within striking distance as Barb's neck became a blur of horns, fangs, and teeth. Blood quickly dripped from her maw splattering the ground and rolling down her cheeks and neck as she chewed nonchalantly and absently on the now squirrel carcass. Her red eyes stared at the mare with an inquisitive glance as if to question What are you doing here, fair one? Barb gave a grunt knowing that she was not alone in this territory. Her cousins would no doubt appear sooner or later.

With that, she spit out the rest of the carcass to the side licking what blood she could from her lips. Barb was sure there was some kind of etiquette when it came to meeting strangers...what was it again? "Hail, creature." She grunted. "Do you know what lands you have crossed into?" She felt her spines rattle on her back, hoof claws digging into the soil beneath her scratching and kicking up the earth, her tail snaking and whipping its way behind her as she began to circle the gray and gold mare. "I am sure one as you would not be here if she knew what creatures lay beyond..."

Dark x Deception

Tensing when she heard something come up behind her. Turning she saw an Azrein. This one looked like a lizard creature. “Oh one such as me? And what kind am I?” Her voice was bitter. She eyed the bloody creature. Scales and barbs blood and fangs. All in all not pleasant looking Azrein. Sharsa kept walking forward calmly seemingly non pulsed by the other mare. She didn’t feel to eager play all quite and meek. She quietly looked down pointedly kicked a small stone away from her. The ring on her collar jingled as she yawned a bit. “Come to think on it, what kind are you my dear scaly friend?” She kept her voice light and joking. It didn’t really matter to her what this creature was nor did it mater what lands these were. After all one little like her was no threat to a herd of any kind. She was certain she could smooth past this situation like all the others.

She looked around curiously not noticing any others nearby. If it was just the one Sharsa was certain she could outrun the other mare. Sharsa was fast and she was proud of it. She was also much braver than she normally let on. It was just a pity that she never had much luck with anything. Moving so she could keep the other mare in sight as she walked. As long as she could predict an attack coming she hoped to avoid it.

Barb simply gave a grunt following the gray mare slowly, her clawed feet scratching at the ground idly. "One such as you that you are not like us." She hissed gently flicking out a pointed tongue before it snapped quickly back into her mouth. The mare seemed angst, defensive, and yet apprehensive all at the same time. She was intriguing as well as her defensive, and her courage was...well either stupid or commendable. She only stopped following the mare when another came in sight...

There was a blur of black and white as a furry female jumped from the right side in front of Sharsa blocking her path. She gave a malicious smile showing one elongated canine fang on her left side. Light purple eyes stared at the gold and gray mare as she gave a chuckle, her voice smooth and sweet. "Cousin? Have you brought us another plaything?" Talon flicked her elongated cat-like tail behind her, her fur seeming to extend on her body as if she were flexing them herself. As her tail came in contact with a small weed, the vegetation was jaggedly and clean in some places as if the mare's fur was nothing but blades. She came a little closer to Sharsa looking her over. "She seems capable...."

She gave a bit of a chuckle shaking her head. "No, Cousin. This one isn't for such a thing, but she is interesting. She travels through our lands unphased and unknowing....which means she be either brave or stupid." Barb came forward standing a little bit behind Sharsa as if to attempt to block her in, the two mares eyeing her slowly and maliciously, Talon smirking and Barb hissing her laughter. The mare was glad that part of her family had come. She was only missing her own brother, but he always did what he wanted. There was nothing Fang did without wanting to do his own thing first. Selfish bat.

Plaything? What kind of toy did the white and black mare think she was? Capable of what? “Well if in doubt simply go with stupid. It’s a safer bet when dealing with strange Azrein.” Sharsa smiled back at the scaled mare before looking to the new one that blocked her path with a bored expression on her face. This one was bushier with very coarse fur. The bushy one’s frame spoke of softness while actions and fang spoke of the promise of pain. “You know you still haven’t answered my question. If you are going based on appearance then one of you isn’t like the other.” She looked back between the mares. They really did look nothing alike and more importantly they where boxing her in. Dancing along to the side she tried to angle herself so she could keep one eye on both the mares. “Such lovely cousins. Tell me are there more of you about? I fear I missed even your coming o playful one.” Sharsa eyed the bushy one as she said this. Who knows how many more would just pop out of the rock. Tail twitching in irritation Sharsa resisted the urge to look. She would not take her eyes off these two. Keeping her face still impassive she hated them both right now. What she wanted was to be alone to come up with a way to deal with the annoying horned winged freak now she had to deal with both of these pests?

"Ahh. She speaks! How delightful." Talon gave a giggle now changing her stance so that she stood having her side face the mare, her tail slightly stuck out so that if needed she would use it to strike. "Are you afraid of strangers then, dear? Talon turned toward her cousin. "Maybe she's not so dumb after all." She eyed Sharsa with interest giving another fanged grin. It was then that she noticed the mare was trying to move. Talon pawed at the ground maliciously.

Barb laughed at the comment flicking her tongue out before allowing it to settle back in the cavern that was her fanged mouth. "Wouldn't you like to know? As far as I can tell it's just us. Lucky you, neh?" Barb saw her cousin's single and adjusted her own stance moving a tad bit closer toward Sharsa keeping her tail also slightly stretched in order to strike, the two dark mares forming a circle around her. "She may not be stupid, but she seems blind to her surroundings." Barb snorted licking her maw again tasting the squirrel's blood. It made her spines rattle sending an echo about the land. "So....who are you and why are you here?" Barb tilted her head clawing at the ground with a clawed foot. "I'm curious. Indulge me." Barb snapped her mouth feeling a low growl emit from her throat. A look from Talon quickly calmed her.

“Well being mute would deprive me of any fun I could have.” Sharsa batted her eyes a the fuzzy one. “Oh scared? Should I be scared of two pretty mare’s like yourselves?” She looked around and sighed dramatically. “Lucky yes, but a pity at the same time. It isn’t every day that I get to meet Azrein who aren’t called to the quick by a bunch of two legged leeches.” She of course meant humans but she didn’t feel the need to play nice. “As for being blind to my surroundings I’m blind to most everything don’t mind little old traveling me.” There that told the spikey one why she was here, now then she didn’t really want to give her name out. Should she lie or should she try and get some information? Perhaps a bit of both would serve her best. What better way to lie than to tell the truth or at least part of it? “Shar is my name; now then perhaps one or both of you would be sweet enough to return the favor?” She didn’t back away from the lizard mare. Rather she took stock of her options. She was certain she could push past one of the mares if she need to and hit hard enough. The only question was what kind of damage she was willing to take. The furry one would leave her with many little scars and the lizard with longer gashes. How annoying.

Barb tilted her head in curiosity as she relaxed her posture. It was unusual for the reptilian mare to do so but this strange mare was something of an interest to her. She gave a course laugh shaking her head. "We may be beautiful, but we're just as black, sick, and twisted on the inside as any other filled with disdain at the world." Barb looked toward her cousin as Sharsa mentioned the humans they despised. She flashed her tail wildly with irritation at the thought of them, clawed hooves stamping and digging up the ground as if she were ripping the flesh.

"We refuse to be led by things that don't even look like us. The ones that align themselves to the disease must be cut in order for the rest to flourish. They and the humans hold no use save for using as slaves, an emergency food supply, and even torture dolls. It's always fun to try things out on live victims." Talon gave a gentle purr as she heard her cousin smack her lips. "And Barb so does love the children. Their flesh is extremely tender and so very juicy. I've tried it once but I prefer the older, more mature flesh." Her tail flicked idly watching her carefully. "You're not terribly blind to everything if you're here and speaking to us. And I'm sure you know of the happenings in the world. Shar? Hmph. It's a little more intimidating then what's given to the eye." Talon commented looking between the other two mares.

Barb watched Sharsa with a bit of amusement shaking her head. "I am Barb and my cousin is named Talon. This is our home but since you are simply traveling we will give you passage through. There's obviously nothing for you here and you bear no threat." The scaled one stuck up her nose a little flicking her tail as she relaxed her posture. This one would have made a decent sized snack but since she was a bit lanky, Barb wasn't even wanting to go through any of the trouble.

Talon gave a grunt. "Barb, she may be useful. Just because she doesn't appear threatening doesn't mean she can't be. And the fact that she attempts to wield honey instead of vinegar with her tongue, she knows what she's doing....slightly. She comes on too strong with the compliments and too thick with the self-idiocy. Mother could have seen right though that." The mare gave a quick grunt relaxing her posture, however, as she took in the female. "Sharsa are you seeking anything in particular? Is there not something that you desire as to why you travel so? Surely more than curiosity of life drives you onward." Talon tilted her head in curiosity watching her with a sense of interest. "Your distaste of the humans are strong, that is for certain. Are you running away from them mayhaps?"

Dark x Deception

“Oh is to be really so bad to have distain or be a bit twisted? I really think those without some distain are a bit deprived.” Sharsa watched the lizard mare paw and stamp the ground greatly amused. So easy to rile. So she hated the humans too? As if the world seemed fit to answer her the bushy one started to speak. She listened and wondered what the flesh of the humans would taste like. She had never thought to try and eat one. To her they were a source of food by what they produced. She shook her head slowly. “I fear much of what happens in the world passes me by. You are most likely better informed than I.”

Barb and Talon? Sharsa was amused by the names themselves but she kept her passive facade. She didn’t mind that they thought her no threat. After all Sharsa was more the kind to gather information than to simply fight and harm physically. As soon as the bushy one.. Talon started to speak she felt she was doomed. Damn well at least Talon didn’t flat out label Sharsa a threat. That would have been so much worse. She flipped her tail and slowly turned her ears as if thinking over all the questions. “Well now Talon I would not be so certain that I know what I’m doing. I have been told by others that I am very sweet by nature.” She blinked and smiled at the mare. “Still I know my own faults and will certainly call them when I see them. That is honesty not self-idiocy.” The rebuke was gentle but there none the less. No reason for Talon to get to aware of how Sharsa was. Now how to handle the tough questions. Some of it she would have to lie about and other bits she could speak the truth. “What I seek? I myself don’t have an answer that would satisfy you I fear. I want power, and a place that I belong. Such a thing can’t simply be found by staying in one pasture so I’m traveling.” An image of Alu-lote flashed in her mind and she unconsciously made a sour face wanting to hurt the winged mare. Her features smoothed naturally as they had contorted without any thought from Sharsa. “I run from nothing save my own weakness. There are those I wish to hurt so deeply that death would be a kindness. Still the ability to do so is beyond me.” She laxed her posture and looked at Barb and Talon. They might hate humans but despite their words they might not take well to a death of another Azrein. “I’d rather not bore you both with a sob story. ”

Barb watched her carefully with a bit of interest. So she was interested in the depraved and the macabre? Her tail flicked as the mare relaxed a bit more tilting her head. "We could always tell you. Then again you probably already know." She eyed her with a bit of suspicion that quickly went away more for amusement than anything. She watched as her cousin and Shar began to interact.

Talon had indifference written all over her face, her emotions kept quite well under check. As the mare explained herself Talon couldn't help but give a chuckle. "Then you are an idiot to reveal your weaknesses to those that you do not know. You do realize that could be played against you yes? I'm sure you know what you do, and I am sure that others lie. Lying is a way of getting what one wants, yes? I'm sure you do." The mare would not be fooled by such a facade for she played the manipulation game just as much. Her tail flicked behind her idly as she listened, her eyes roaming slightly as she took a walk around the group. "Everyone wants power. Belonging is simply a matter of the mind. But you won't get it by doing nothing but traveling. You gather allies, find those who seek what you do. And those that you want to extract revenge, you worm your way into their hearts and then strike. But I shouldn't be telling you all this. You seem like you know." Talon stopped her strolling and eyed her gently.

She became interested hearing how Shar spoke. She also noticed the brief glimmer of disgust on the mare's face. It made her chuckle slightly knowing that Talon would have caught that as well. "Is the ability that you can't or that you won't? Come now, killing is as easy as breathing. It just depends on how messy you want to get. Our family has been doing this for ages killing for either revenge or just plain boredom. Nothing and no one is safe." Barb snapped her teeth violently looking at Shar as if to make a point. It was true that the females had killed other azrein but they weren't like themselves. Killing another like them would be more of a cardinal sin that simply killing a weaker formed azrein. Her tail waved madly behind her slightly keeping close to Shar as Talon paced. "Well we love tears and as long as you're a good story teller, we won't kill you." At this point both mares flashed a fang smile weilding a wicked promise.

Smiling Sharsa ignored Talon’s threat and continued. Her smile was one that showed she felt Talon missed so much that wasn’t said. It was almost a look of pity that a teacher gives an unruly student. “What I learned my lovely lady was that humans are seducers and tricksters. As I approached I saw the human watch other Azrein as if she longed to possess them. I had never had a bad experience with a human before so I was ignorant before I looked closely at her. I knew in that moment I could never trust my heart or soul to be joined to such a creature that would look at other Azrein with such a gleam. To do so would be to invite heart ache after ache without end.” Shar did a slow blink and then continued now with a tone that was so casual she might be discussing the weather. “Still this is not which disturbed me most. I found in time that the human had bonded to another Azrien. By chance I met this Azrein before and had not known her to be bonded to this particular human. The winged Azrein was so happy and chatter-y I assumed her annoying did little with her other than keep up with the comings and goings of the world. Still this is not what angered me most.” Now she moved forward close enough to Barb and Talon that all she would have to do was move a small bit and then she would undoubtedly be scratched, not deeply but enough to cause a small line of blood on her coat. “That mare has children, a mate, a happy life. This is what angers me the most. Others look and see that simpletons happiness and assume that is what the bond offers. I know the mare is used for labor, I know her children will undoubtedly be seduced by the human friendly atmosphere they live in. The joy the human’s offer is nothing but a gentle slavery that will in time destroy. I want to end that happiness. I don’t simply want to kill the young since they don’t know better. I want to take them away from it all show them what the world truly is while making that overly happy mare see the truth that that human does nothing but hold her back.” I want her to suffer, missing her children never knowing whether they live or die. She continued forward pass the other mares. “You see it really isn’t much of a wish, though it is hard to save a little one when one is all alone and there are others in the area to worry about. I simply lack the skills to destroy that lie the humans have made alone. I see the doom of the young and I am powerless against it.” She turned back to Barb and Talon her eyes glinted of a promise of pain and suffering. Still her body language was so subtle and sweet she seemed the model of obedience. She looked away for a moment and then when her eyes came back to the mares it was as if the bloody thoughts she had while telling the second half of her story never existed she was nothing but a well meaning mare once more. The kind any other Azrein would trust without hesitation. “Well as I said I’m no story spinner. My story doesn’t have a good ending yet because I haven’t written it. Will you kill me now?” She smiled kindly at the pair.

Talon gave a grunt mulling over the mare's words. She wasn't a leader though she made others think she could be capable of such. But did that mean she was a follower? Could she follow directions well? The mare gave a slight grunt in deep thought. It was true, their family were attempting to mass an army to take against the good forces of this unnatural world and while they were good on brute force, it wouldn't be well enough if they couldn't have a few "normies" in their ranks in order to infiltrate. Talon knew brute force couldn't win everything and therefore, there needed to be a sense of normality among their twisted crew. "You are quite true, Shar. It seems you'll have to lead eventually if you want to extract your revenge, however. Unless you're going solo." The mare flicked her tail idly as the two now listened to her words.

Both mares were curious and rightly so. The spined female tilted her head a little watching with amusement while the spike of fluff simply stared with a boredom. It was true, they would have probably killed her on first sight for being one of those fAzrein. Both were curious as to what on earth could Shar want this much suffering out of something so small and so puny? Humans were insignificant and should be killed rather than toyed with. As much as they were weak, if humans banded together, they could be forceful which honestly it was better to be rid of them now then later. Shar's story was of course a little funny and quite pathetic to the two. Barb couldn't believe the idiocy and Talon simply couldn't understand how any Azrein could be so caught up. When she stopped Barb eyed her as if to urge her to keep going. Talon yawned. "I'm tempted to find out what's next but I'd rather not bore myself any longer. Shar, as interesting as you are, you would not do well with our cause therefore I believe I should end you. You're quite pathetic if you're letting this bother you so much." Barb gave a snort and snapped at her cousin hissing all the while. "Oh please, let her finish first. Afterwards we can kill her unless the ending is really good and she can prove that we should spare her then we can let her go." The two cousins stared down at each other for a moment before Talon gave in and sighed. "Very well. But for her sake, I do hope she has a good ending."

It wasn’t the labored that bothered Sharsa most. It was the promise of joy when in fact it was more a soft slavery than anything else. She hoped the mares were smart enough to understand. She never flat out said it despite knowing how these mare felt about humans. No some things required a gentler touch. She listened to the two talk feeling a thrill race through her. To break a bond with a human? She had never considered it not even thinking such was possible. Oh but tearing the winged freak apart and blaming humans sounded like so much fun! Still the part she liked best was turning the foals against humans. Adding to the number of Azrien in the isle that were not hampered by such weakness and fondness for humans. Oh how the mother would suffer day in and day out knowing that her own child had a heart black toward humans. The thought make Sharsa want to dance and sing! Still she supposed Talon was right. In a way she had formed a plan hadn’t she? Take a foal turn it. Make the mother suffer. Simple sweet and manageable, yet still hard to do alone without skills. She wanted to remain on the mothers good side to use her for information and of course to stab in the loss of the child whenever possible. That would make it so much more delicious. That glint in Talon’s eye intrigued her. Was the mare telling to go or offering to help if Shar asked it? Probably at the expense of humiliation or some blood but help was help and if it meant suffering for that winged freak then Shar was willing to lose some blood and she had never been much for dignity. It only got in the way of what must be done. “Oh I think I could easily come up with something given the options the two of you angels have set at my hooves” She gave them a winning smile full of such warmth that it was hard to believe to any who would see that the three weren’t dear friends. “Still there does seem to be one small kink in the ideas. I want to see the mother suffer and keep her as a ear in the world for me. For this I must stay one her good side. So, me attacking seems out of the question, but abducting takes skill and planning and for that I lack expertise.” Barb seemed all for helping it was Talon she would have to convince. She focused more on the cunning fluffy mare. “Tell me if I begged or made an oath would you help me if I found a time in which the human and mate were gone from the home? Even if that help was nothing more than teaching me skills you think would be useful. The mare is simple to distract. The foal easy to take. Though I would need a place to take the young one I suppose..” Shar mused aloud a bit still smiling at Talon.

Both mares listened intently quite enthralled by the tale. So it was what they always assumed: humans are just as evil spirited as they thought. But labor was labor. And any other human or azrein or creature would do such a thing if they could. Which got the wheels in Talon's head turning slowly. Her face was stoic as her train of thought went for a brief moment before she gave a gentle snort. "Humans...are meant to end. That is all I care about. If a mare is too duped into this idea then it is her fault. The only way to make one see is to trick her into seeing. Perhaps make an instance where the human harms one of her young. Bonded pairs are harder to break because they're always connected but what if you could sever that connection? Make her choose between human and child? Hard but can be done." She gave a brief yawn for a moment as if thinking even further on how to destroy a bonded pair. That would be an extreme win. "Oh! Or you wait until the bratlings were older and then harm or even leave the mother on the brink of death and leave it on the human's fault. Turn the children against humans entirely and have them teach others!" Her spines rattled with excitement for a moment as she gave a brief chuckle snapping her fangs in excitement. "I think we should help her, Talon." The other immediately gave a brief cough of a whicker. "My dear Barb, I would take a guess that she doesn't want or need our help. I'm sure she can think of a plan all on her own." The mare gave a brief look over to Shar, a dark glint in her eyes before she shook her head. "But no, we will not kill her. She can go if she wishes. Nothing here but death anyway." Talon watched her with violet eyes as she spoke flicking her tail idly behind her as Barb gave a more relaxed stance shifting to give Shar more room if she wished to leave. Her face looked disappointed but Talon was the older cousin and often knew what she was doing. Barb trusted her family more than any outsider as much fun as they promised.

Even if that help was only teaching me skills I may need. The mare is simple to distract. The foal easy to take. Though I would need a place to keep her..” Sharsa mused while keeping her soft smile.
