As we develop the lore ever more of our home of Meardhon, I find that there seem to be many interesting tidbits that are lost in the main thread.
So! Here we have a centralized location for us to answer any and all of your questions at! As we create the RP Info forum, the information gathered here will also be added to the appropriate thread. You can post the questions yourselves here or in the main thread, I will edit them with the answers, and then move them to the correct info thread 3nodding
i.e. Curious about the landscape? Just look under the Lands thread!
Its a bit bare right now but once we get the cobwebs swept up we should have a wonderful forum that contains everything we know about Meardhon.

Q: Is the sea fresh water like the river, or a salt sea? I was going to have my gar mer go into the sea, but that won't work if the seawater is salty, since she is a freshwater mer.
A: the sea is a salt-sea and the lake is fresh-water but they can actually swim freely in both as they are osmoregulators

Q: Is there anyway for a mated pair to split up?
A: Life-Mates were originally more involved, being an RP only type deal where you had to petition Leanna'En-I'Elen for the chance to be bonded in a true love match (which you'll find in her RP thread actually but no details ^^)
Breaking a bond is possible but there is a breeding penalty attached to it, a pony who broke their bond cannot breed for 4 months(may lower the number) afterward. This way you had to be sure the pony you mated to was there for the long run.
But to reward RPers you were automatically given an extra baby because of it.
For now though since none of that info is actually up anywhere nor advertised you may apply for a cert change without penalty

Alright so.. a list of questions:
Q1. So I've noticed many of the pets here are certed without clothing and was wondering; does your pet need to have clothing/items to be described with them in rp? Is there a certain extent to which you can rp pets that don't have items? (i.e. certain special items the stag king crown can obviously only be worn by that year's stag king).
A1: Mearas are without clothing in their natural state and it is only viewed as a fashion accessory or protective gear (such as if one is a knight or cook with an apron). You can describe your character with items in RP even if they aren't certed with them. Typically they're a bit more situational based such as a Mearh playing an instrument for a party, but don't have to be. Certed items are more of a visual element and a way to show off the item/clothing the Mearh carries with them without having to repeat it with every RP. The RPer cannot claim an item that holds a special significance story wise in the Meardhon world. Anyone can have a sword for example but cannot RP it as haven been given by the Gods and wins every battle. Or using the Stag King Crown, a Mearh can describe themselves as wearing one (say they're pretending to be a stag for the Autumn Festival) but cannot claim it as the official crown.
Q2. Are there special lines for Mims/do Mims have to be advertized as Mims when they're given away as pets in the shop or can people just decide to have miniature Mearas?
A2. Mims will have their own special set of growing lineart biggrin
Q3. What are the rules on creating/playing NPCs?
A3. Short Answer? You cant. What you can do is if you have been with the shop for a while and have shown to be an active RPer, is PM me or the shop mule with the NPC you'd like to create. We would discuss it and determine if/how the NPC would fit in the world.
Q4. From what I've read I understand that the Meardhon world is in a medieval setting, so do characters have to be set up in medieval time in order to interact in the world? I think I read something to the effect of characters who are more modern aren't allowed to take part in storyline unless they're adjusted to fit the time period? In general is it just easier/better to have characters you're interested in playing set up to be suitable for a medieval time period? And can you play modern based characters in a modern time frame based rp?
A4. If you're participating in a shop sponsored RP, such as during an Event or Meta Plot, then the Mearh must fit within the Medieval setting. Mostly this means that if they do have any modern/futuristic items on them then they cannot be referenced to. For example, you could not talk about guns in this time period even if you have it certed on your character. RP wise you'd pretend it wasnt there. If its a character that you plan to use heavily and want items on I'd suggest setting them up for the medieval period. You can make a modern RP but it would have to be done in the Guild as a Private RP or we'd make an official Guild thread for a Mearhdon future/alternate universe Open RP if there was enough interest.
Q5. How do the Meara travel from place to place? I assume for the most part they walk and the Gwilith can fly, but in medieval times where people rode horses and traveled further distances in horse drawn carriages (and used horses for farming and stuff) how does this equate in their world? Do they just not have those things? Or do/can Meara pull carts/carriages as a job? I was thinking I'd like to have a farm boy character who plows his own fields and stuff, so it doesn't seem far fetched to me, but I was just wondering if they have beasts of burden.
A5. Yes, any jobs that you can imagine horses did in the medieval times the Mearas can do. So you'll often find the Laegil plowing their own fields or pulling carts/carriages. They're a proud people who would rather do the work themselves than have to rely on outside help. There are large mammals in the world (we have a mutant yak/goat think in mind xD ) but they're more used for for their hair to make fabric and other items.
Q6. What do Meara eat? I was thinking most likely fruits and vegetables, but what about grains? Bread and pasta or rice? Beans? Do they find some way to work hay/timothy/alfalfa in their meals some how? I'm assuming Aelin eat various types of seafood like conch, fish, scallops, craps, kelp and the ilk, but what about the others? Do any of them eat meat?
A6. Mearas are primarily vegetarians so will eat all sorts of fruits/vegetables/grains. So you can easily find one munching on some hay or enjoying a tasty apple. Aelin Mearas as you say usually eat anything in the ocean depending on where they live. Tropical Mearh are more likely to eat seaweed or kelp where it is abundant and deep sea Mearh will eat fish, crustaceans, etc. Mearh that live on land/air are a bit different in that the only carnivores are ones that have mutated to do so. So you'll find carnivore based (such as cat or dragon) based Mearh eating meat more often and only eat grains occasionally. Normal Mearas dont find meat very appetizing.
..I think that's everything for now. XD;

Neon Fly Here I am again!
So I was wondering what is the height range for Mearas? And are certain species of Meara larger/smaller than others? To answer (and this is not yet released info) the current Mearh are "normal" size. There will be a way to explain more when the rest of the lines are released/ These mearh available are the 5'6"-510" Average we would see around the human world. Basicly the middle of the spectrum. wink
