Nickname: Ky, Kyan
True Name: Nazo nazo nazo~
Gemstone: Kyanite
Physical Age: As a child, somewhere in the neighborhood of eight.
General Height: ~3’10”
Eye Color: Artist’s Choice
Primary Skin Color: Maybe blue? Something like the stones in this image, or in the OP?
Markings: Artist’s Choice, preferably with the potential to evolve/shift pending plot developments. >.>
Hair: Artist’s Choice- though preferably something fun/unusual/kinda crazy!
Stage: Um, wisp?
Personality: Even as a kid he’ll be on the serious side. Not very chaotic, and the mischief he gets into is a bit odd- he likes to try to make people’s choices better. He’s the Fiend who will swap your whole milk for two percent, hide your car keys so you have to walk, and make sure your socks always match, even if he has to take one off your foot while you’re walking. He can be pushy and stubborn, but he’s also sensitive and easily hurt. In short, he has a fixation with making everyone’s life better, and if you won’t let him help, you’re either really stupid OR YOU HATE HIM T__________T
When not invading people’s personal space with vitamins and gold star stickers, he likes to watch from afar. Most of the supposedly “good” or “healthy” habits he’s learned about are from watching people from afar, and when he’s in this mode he can go for hours without speaking or interacting with his surroundings. Real people are the best, but when he simply can’t get to them, he’ll soak up television like a sponge. Soap operas are his favorites, but he also really enjoys learning things from commercials, since they’re full of helpful advice that he can make good use of.
Image Song(s): Kasanaru Kage - Hearts Grow
Quick Description: Conscientious, Stubborn, Curious, Sensitive, Observant
Potential Abilities: Something derived from the fact that kyanite doesn’t absorb negative energies (and therefore never needs to be cleansed), its uses for attunement and aligning of the chakras, and/or its uses in channeling and astral projection. HEY LOTS OF IDEAS. Enhanced empathy as a minor ability, drawing from Melete’s natural ability and kyanite’s use as a communication aid- ideally, he’ll be able to communicate pretty clearly with her even as a stone, and pick up on strong emotions of people other than his bond.
Note: All kyanite is gorgeous, but I'm especially partial to the darker colors of it, as seen and this post and the previous one. The stone doesn't have to be gemstone quality- in fact, I'd almost rather it isn't, because it looks really awesome just polished. But as with everything visual in this quest, I'm pretty flexible!

The Guardian
Name: Melete Ourania Kelahen
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Race: Neilani
Hair: Auburn, ends dyed blonde
Eyes: Dark Blue
Occupation: Student at the University of Gaia (undeclared major)
Likes: Elgei, gold, Neilani tea, other empaths, keeping busy
Dislikes: Gaia, bossy people, noodles, synthetic yarn, uncertainty
Personality: Stubborn, stubborn, stubborn. When Melete makes up her mind, it’s difficult- though not impossible- to get her to change it. She’s harshly judgmental of those she meets, and first impressions last a long time with her. This makes it difficult for her to make friends, but once she does, she is fiercely loyal and protective of them. To all others she’s critical at best, abrasive at worst, but only violent or cruel if she feels threatened. Her experiences have made her something of a cynic, which doesn’t help with her often caustic attitude.
Melete does hold herself to her own high moral standards, and her intentions are almost always good- she just doesn’t always have the best way of expressing that. She’s a firm believer that talk is cheap, and action is required to make changes- but she’s rarely willing to make any changes on her own, in case they’re not the right ones. While Melete has strong opinions, they’re derived from the respected authority figures in her life, who affect her mindset more often and more directly than she comprehends. Her desire to have a positive impact on the world- or more accurately, worlds- is truly her own, but a lifetime of following the people she believes to have the answers has left her unable to come up with her own ideas, which is one reason she’s now setting out on her own- to decide for herself what she really wants to do with her life.
History: Melete hails from Neilan, a sister world to Gaia. The two worlds are similar in structure, though Neilan is more technologically advanced; the native residents of both worlds are humans, though the Neilani have developed empathy, which is used in everyday life to enrich communication. A gate connects the two worlds, and while it is rare for Gaians to pass through it, Neilani come to Gaia every day, to work, play, and live.
When she was a child, Melete participated in an exchange program that brought her to Gaia for the first time. It was especially jarring for her, coming from a very isolated part of Neilan and a very orthodox community. Having grown up with a prejudice against Gaia, she was initially hostile towards her hosts and other Gaians she met, but started to warm up once she got to know some of the people she had been trained to dislike. Just when she was beginning to settle in, she was summoned home. While a part of her was relieved to be back where she felt belonged, another part of her was upset that her experience was cut short. Her feelings about Gaia are more conflicted than ever, so much so that once she finished her basic education, she decided to attend a Gaian college, in the hopes that another extended visit would enable her to sort things out once and for all.
Abilities: Empathy. For the most part, this is used as a communication aid, allowing her to project her emotions, intentions, and experiences directly to other empathic or receptive people, and to receive projections in turn. She is also able to pick up on strong emotions that are not consciously being projected, and the occasional mild one, but it is considered poor etiquette to comment on these. When she does not wish to communicate her feelings, she is able to erect a mental shield. Naturally, she is unable to feel others who have blocked off their minds in this way.
Speech: Melete speaks English with a heavy accent; while it usually doesn’t prevent people from understanding her, it’s quite noticeable. She also speaks Neilani, both the common language and her native Idene dialect. Regardless of the language she’s speaking, she tends to add empathic projections as a supplement, though she’s more careful with this habit on Gaia as most residents aren’t used to that type of communication.
