Rose started her first day of work. Sighing she sat at the front desk flipping through a book she was reading. It was really slow today. And it was her first day.

some of the homonculus workers walked through her office and never said a word, all seemingly lifeless and cold, but one came in carrying his hammer and a small bag at his side. he wore a mask to cover his face and his eyes were a brighter color as he stopped to glance at the new girl at the desk

Rose blinked hearing someone. She turned back and stared at the man. "Um... he-hello." She said softly, "I'm Rose... I'm new here..."

The large man tilted his head curiously when she began to talk to him. no one ever talked to him unless it was his creator. But he bowed his head to her and spoke with a quiet voice that didn't match his features "welcome to the factory miss rose. . .I am Dorian. . .it's nice to meet you" he nodded before walking away to his workshop as his creator came in "hm? rose, is everything alright?"

Rose blinked at the man then turned to the creator, "Everything is fine." She said softly, "Its just a slow day." She said with a smile.

"of course. it's the end of winter right now so there aren't alot of customers. but as soon as the snow melts and roads are better for travel, it'll pick up" he said reassuringly before turning to look at the homonculus. his eyes fixed on Dorian for a minute before he walked out to go work again

Rose watched the interaction. She blinked a bit then looked at Dorian. "So you work here as well? Do you make the tools?" She asked.

". . .I work like the others, making tools, weapons and armor for those who request it. even the fire arms that rarely come through here" Dorian nodded and turned to sit down, pulling a blade from the fire to put a handle on it ". . .why are you interested in me?"

"They do not know how to talk. they have no souls within them. . .merely workers. I am the only one who has intelligence" Dorian commented softly, his eyes fixed on what he was doing. his fingertips had scars and were stained black from all the soot and fire. there was even one running from beside his eye until it disappeared beneath his mask

This made Rose freeze, "Wh-what do you mean... they have no souls?" She asked softly. Gulping softly she bit her lip.

"No ma'am. Homonculus are. . .more like dolls. living dolls that can be commanded by their creator . . .because they are born without thought or spirit. . .I am the only one." he said quietly before looking up as a bell rang for their shift to end for lunch. Dorian grunted and stood, pulling his back up "lunch time miss rose. i hope you have a good one" he bowed his head and turned to follow the other men

Rose watched him blinking. She had never heard of anything like that. Shaking her head she thought he was playing her. Making up stories to fill his amusement for his slow work. She crossed her arms and started to read her book again.

As lunch went on, the men just ate silently without barely looking at one another as Dorian headed outside for a moment. When they had to come back, they began working immediately on what was left behind before there was a loud crash and a man was on the ground, hugging his arm tightly. he had gotten it caught in his machine by accident
