In the wee hours of the morning the Frostwood Manor was very quiet. Business had officially ended for the evening, and there were only a very few patrons still enjoying their services upstairs with the girls, but they would be leaving in time as well. Down in the bar section of the brothel the owner was currently wiping down glasses - It wasn't her job, but she was killing time while she waited for Saia to count their earnings for the night. From the numerous stacks of gold piling up before her ward, she thought it was safe to assume they'd done a fair bit of business that evening.

Of course, considering the reputation of her little establishment, they did a fair bit of business most evenings.

"How's it coming, Dove?" An endearment she'd come to use for her handicapped helper, and one she found most appropriate. "I suspect the last of our guests to be leaving shortly, so as soon as the money is counted and divided up for the girls we can turn in for the night." They technically didn't have to split the earnings for the girls until morning, but Cyphir usually preferred to have it done before she turned in. She wasn't what one would call an early riser, nor did she wake in any manor of gracefulness. No, she liked to sleep in, and she didn't much care for being disturbed until a certain hour.

"....well, m'lady." the quiet response came from the redhead, looking up to where her mistress's voice came from. In fact, she was already done and was recounting to make sure. Out of each gleaming gold pile she'd separated, she'd made sure to take off a percentage from each pile to set aside as Cyphir's take for the evening. Pushing each pile in turn forward, she nodded and picked up the harp in her lap, a few short, light, and airy notes coaxed from the strings to denote her completion of the task. The sound abruptly stopped as she tilted her head towards the door, a look of concentration and confusion on her face.

There were no customers still in the building. They wouldn't have started counting the take if there had been. Yet there was rustling downstairs, she was sure of it. Three suspicious, high, and clipped notes came from her harp subconsciously, her hands keeping themselves busy.

"Noises, m'lady. Not any of our girls, the footsteps are too light. The girls walk heavily when they've been used all night..." she reported in hushed tones, her voice sweet and soft, almost quiet enough that you had to learn in just to make out what she was saying.

No indeed; Jakob's steps were light and quick, his touch on the door quick and efficient to close it behind them. Saia had heard him coming -- well, Cy would hear the whomph of the door closing on the chill air, the breathless struggle for the young man to catch his breath. Locke had been lost hours ago, but he'd been too worried to head here immediately, concerned about leading the Silver Cloak back to his one safe haven...

As such, it was a moment before he realized he wasn't alone. He blinked at the duo, and then back toward the door, clearing his throat as he considered. The nice new coat had a tear near the hem, something that had caught on the edge of a cart. He didn't have a damned clue how to fix it.

"Ummm." That wasn't an explanation. Instead he dug up a smile, sudden and flashing. "Evening, ladies."

Cy had indeed heard the door, and she'd stared expectantly towards the stairwell for the familiar figure of Jakob. She knew it was him, no one else came to call after hours, and certainly none so light of foot. When he finally came into sight, offering little more then an inarticulate sound as explanation for his haste and the breathless state of him, she couldn't help but return his grin with a smile of her own. "You've been up to no good again," she commented ideally, bending to lean against the bar top, arms folding over the polished wood surface.

"And you've torn your new coat." A dark finger lifted and pointed towards the rip. "Off with it," she instructed. "Give it to Saia so she can mend it in the morning." It was already very late, and there was no way she was going to task the blind woman with more work before she'd had a proper nights sleep.

Of course being without a thick coat, the young man was going to have to remain in the brothel for the night. It was too cold to venture outside for any period of time without protection. Now that she thought about it, the poor kid was probably freezing. "Come here, I'll get you something to help warm you up."
