THE RULES

Alright everyone, these are the rules and guidelines for this guild. As members of this guild, you are expected to follow them. If you have a questions, comments, or complaints about anything Please see the Captains or Crew members.

We are the moderators of this guild, and what we says goes. Everyone in the crew are veteran role players and / or know what they're doing when it comes to role playing and taking care of a guild. Many of us have been a part of this guild for years, and we will not tolerate any drama here.

If you need help, don't be afraid to ask. We won't bite.

GENERAL RULES

What the Captains and Crew says goes.
We're all experienced with role playing and have been a part of this guild for quite some time. A few of us for years. I was here when the “guild” was just an open role play in the forums.

If we say that there is a problem with your character, then there is a problem with your character. If there's a problem with how you are posting, then there's a problem with how you are posting. If what you're going to do is going to screw up in-progress-plots...then re-think your own plot.

If you don't like what we have to say, or don't like the way the guild is being run, then know that this IS our guild. We hold the right to kick you out. If we get complaints about you, have to reprimand you multiple times, or anything of the sort...you will be removed from the guild.

No fighting, trolling, or any other sort of drama.
If you have a problem with something, grab a guild mod's attention. Do NOT start fights or go off on anyone here. We WILL ban members who cause trouble or stress out the other members. This guild is supposed to be fun for everyone involved. A way to create a good story and escape from reality for a bit. Anything that causes someone to get upset or stressed out will not be tolerated here.

(( And yes, we have had problems in the past. We have had members fight about characters, and cause some members a great amount of stress. They are no longer a part of the guild. ))

No God-modding.
This means that your character never gets hurt, has a ridiculous number of “awesome” powers that make them able to do whatever they want with no consequence, can just appear and leave when they want, how they want, ignore other rpers interaction with you, can fix a problem with a snap of their fingers, etc.

Basically, if your character is powerful enough / you play them in a way that they can do whatever they want. Characters can never hurt them, but they can always hurt other characters or quickly end a battle or fix any problem. Anything that makes it so other players can't do anything about your character, but you can do anything to their characters, or the plot.

This does NOT make it any fun for the other members.

And yes...we DO have God-mode-enabled characters in this guild...but they are owned by skilled veteran role players. They are in play either because they are the in-guild-moderators, or they have a part in the main plots.

For more information on this, see the CHARACTERS section of the rules.

No Auto-hitting.
This means to preform an attack on another character where they have no possible way of avoiding it. We understand that your character needs to be able to land some good punches, but not giving the other players the ability to react is not fun at all.

For example: “Character A sent a punch to Batman's face that sent him flying backwards. He then flew forwards and sent a kick to his stomach before he hit the ground. After dodging a batarang, Character A proceeded to punch and kick Batman until he was knocked out.”

You see? Batman had absolutely no way of reacting or dodging any of Character A's attacks. And he was automatically knocked out, ending Batman's ability to RP further.

Be as active as you can.
We understand that not everyone has access to computers 24-7, and that real life gets in the way of things. Some of us are incredibly active on here, and some of us just don't have everyday access. What we want to see is that you're making an effort to be here. We will wait on you to post if you need to, but we do not like to wait for you to post for days at a time because you're interested in other guilds.

We have a monthly ROLL-CALL on the main page of the guild. At the beginning of each month, everyone is expected to sign-in. This is to help us keep track of who is still actively a part of the guild...and who just doesn't seem to bother with it anymore.

We do have some members who are not able to sign-in each month, but have an excuse to be absent. Be it class-work, lack of internet access, military work, vacations, what have you. If you know that you are going to have issues with being on regularly, or know that you will not be on for a few days, we have an ABSCENT THREAD on the main page of the guild. There, you can let us know when you will be gone and why. If you are going to have internet trouble for an undetermined amount of time, just let us know there and we will add you to the excused list so we know you may not be able to make the monthly sign-in.

This is to help us keep track of what members are active, what members aren't able to be active but still have a desire to be part of the guild, and what members don't seem to care.

If you are confused on any of this or have questions, just ask one of the Captains or Crew.

Keep it PG13
* Remember this site has rules. Follow them. No one wants to have something reported to a site moderator. This guild has been around for years, and we'd like to keep it that way. Mind where you are.

* Don't use a whole slew of cursing. We don't care if your character curses. In some situations, it's more than acceptable for them to shout something out. What we don't want to see is F* C* B* or any other gasp-worthy words thrown out there in every other post or every other sentence. A couple words are fine....bleep out the bigger words.....and censor completely if your character is going to verbally go X-rated on someone.

* Easy on the blood and guts. This is a super hero role play...yes it is going to be violent...yes people are going to get beat up and bloody....but no saw-level horror show here please. If you want a bloody room with bodies on the floor, fine. Don't describe it in detail though. We can use our imaginations to whatever level we're comfortable with. Your villain has a hero in the middle of a torture session? Fine, some of us love a little heroic peril. Don't describe how the squishy noises sound as the heroes **** is pulled out with a **** through their ****.

…..you get the idea, right? If you wouldn't see it in a comic book, we don't want to see it here. Blood, fine. Beat up, fine. Pain, fine. Gory-horror-movie-esque, no.

No bedroom scenes.
Romance IS allowed, along with the flirting, affection, and all that nice stuff. In fact it's nice to see characters express such feelings in such a crazy world this RP has. And it gives us shippers something new to obsess over. But seriously...remember what kind of role play you're in. Keep in mind who all could be reading these, and that not everyone wants to see your skills at mature fiction vocabulary. If you want to continue the little end-of-the-night-date or what-not...take it elsewhere. It's supposed to be a private interaction anyway.

No killing off someone else's character.
Unless the owner of the character has agreed upon their character being killed off...you are not allowed to give killing blows to said character. It's a pretty final thing, and no one wants to have to quit playing their character so suddenly and unexpectedly. The only allowable reason of killing off a character without the owners permission is if the role player is no longer active and...well, the character needs to be removed from the story some how if they are not going to be adopted. Or the role player has caused trouble in the guild and an in-guild-moderator character needs to step in.

If the other player has agreed upon letting you kill their character, please state so in the post as an “ooc” statement. This will let the rest of us know that this was and agreed upon event.

CHARACTERS
<< under construction >>

You must make a profile for your character before you can play in the RP. This gives us a chance to review the profile and point out problems before you really get into role playing. Such as if the character is already actively being used...in which case you'll need to be more specific about what “time frame” the character is coming in from. If there is a problem with the powers / lack of weakness your original character has. The sort of thing that could cause problems within the role play for yourself or other players.

<< rule on multiples of the same character >>

You are allowed to be as many characters as you can handle.
This means that we don't want you to have 27 characters, but only 3 of them are actively doing anything. If you are saving some for a later point because of a plot you are going to do, that's fine. But please...don't claim characters just to claim them. That takes the character away from someone who might have been able to play them spot on, and....well it just keeps them from being in the story at all.
If you took too many characters than you can handle, just let a mod know and we will take care of it. If they do not help you take care of the unwanted characters, then they will let me know. I have taken care of and adopted well over 60+ characters. I will do what I can to keep that character going, or I will use one of my methods of removing the character from play and putting them in a place where they can be picked up by someone else.

Inactive characters will be put up for adoption...sent to laboratories for evil genius research...or killed off.
As I said, I've taken over 60+ characters. I have laboratories that inactive characters can go to so that they will be in hiatus until I or someone else wants to re-claim them. The creator of this multi-verse can move / kill / do something to move the character out of the way from the rest of the story.
If you want to know if a character is available for adoption or not, simply ask. There are several characters that are in hiatus due to their role players having internet difficulties, so just because you don't see them running around the guild doesn't mean they're available. Just ask.

As far as original characters....

We have tips and information on various things concerning original characters and what makes a good character. You can find these in the ROLE PLAYING TIPS, TUTORIALS, AND TRAINING forum.

The basic things we have problems with here are characters that are over powered and “Mary-Sues”.

<< Weaknesses >>

<< rule on uber powerful canon characters >>

God-mode-enabled characters in this guild...they are owned by skilled veteran role players. A.k.a. Captain and crew members who need them or know what they're doing. They are in play either because they are the in-guild-moderators, or they have a part in the main plots.
An In-guild-moderator is a character that can take care of any unneeded problems. For instance, if someone starts some big plot, but then quits...the I.G.M. Character can “fix” the plot problem, so that it is no longer a loose thread in the story. Or if there is a plot that is having some trouble, or need some uber powerful character to help, the I.G.M. Character can lend a hand to help with the plot. They can also clean up any inactive characters so that they are no longer lingering in the storyline.
A character that is God-Mode able, but has a part in the main plot is....well, just as it says. The best example for this would be X. He is the being who created this multi-universe, and has been around since the guild began back in 2008. He is both part of the main plot, and acts as an in-guild-moderator as needed.
As you will notice though with all of these God-mode able characters are seen very little in the world or interacting with other characters. They are here for a reason, and they are used responsibly.

Are there cannon characters that have God-mode abilities? Yes. Superman, Galactus, any of those characters are capable of God-modding. BUT....they are to be used on as-needed basis, or are to be used by responsible role players. If what happens with the character causes problems and you don't fix what you do, we will remove the character from your play.

POSTING

When you enter and leave an area in the role play, be sure to state so. It may be an extra step that many of you are not used to...but it really does help. It helps us keep track of characters and what is going on right now....and it helps us when we need to backtrack to find a particular event or post.

Example:

Enter Superman from Metropolis

blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah etc....

Exit Superman to Oscorp

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

When the guild was first created, it was mandatory that the dialogue was in “quotes” and color coded or bolded. While having the dialogue in “quotes” is still required because the majority of us will come after you with pitchforks if you don't....it's no longer required that you color code the dialogue.
But....it is recommended that you make the dialogue stand out in some way.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Maintaining Sub Plots

If you create a sub-plot, or are part of something that creates high-traffic...you're responsible for creating a summary of it. Simply create a thread in the summary forum, or add onto the correct thread in the summary forum. This only applies for the Main Role Play area, where most everyone is currently Rping / trying to play catch-up.

For those of us who can't be on as much, it can become easy to get behind or lost on what's going on. Especially for those who have already been gone for months. Though the newspaper and SHIELD Files are still in the works, they're far from being useful for what is happening recently. ((Namely I can't keep up with everything 2010+ ))

So...if you create a sub-plot....please give everyone a brief summary about what has happened with it so far. If you have gone to an area that was fairly dead for a month, and have added three pages to it in one night....please post a brief summary of what happened so it's easier for others to catch up If you have your own area and are the only one in it....please give a brief summary about what all has happened in it. Etc....

These do not have to be awe-inspiring reports. Just give a summary about what characters did what, and important dialogue or information as it would pertain to other characters or the plot. Give those gone for days a chance to quickly and easily catch up, and those working on the SHIELD files a bit of a break.

Since I have been here since before the guild was a guild....just worry about what you and your characters have been involved in. I will take care of all the 2008+ plots and such. I'll summarize everything that I know if you summarize everything that you know. Deal?

=========================================================

NEW RULE

If you create an area, and you only want it to be open for certain people, you must say so in the title of the location.

In order to keep members happy, keep plots flowing smoothly, and easily find the status of various locations, you must make it very clear if an area is private or public. If you created the area, you are in charge of maintaining the status in the title. If you need an area limited to certain characters for a plot, grab the captain or mods and we will set it up for you.

If you don't want random members disturbing the location, you need to say so. We don't know that a current plot is private unless you say so.

For Example;

Catier's Therapy - 1x1 only
Catier's Therapy - Semi Open
Catier's Therapy - Closed / Empty
Catier's Therapy - Location Destroyed.

etc.

QUESTIONS, COMPLAINTS, AND WARNINGS

Posts and profiles will be monitored by crew members, and those in charge of the guild. If a problem is seen, it will be addressed. However...if you are not a mod, please refrain from such. If you have concerns you would like to express about a profile or post, please PM a crew member or the captain. We will go about getting the problem addressed.

Again, what the Captain and Crew says goes. We have the right to boot you from the guild as well as lay down the law within the role play if things get out of hand.

But this is only if things get out of hand, or if one of us needs to step in.

95% of the time, we will do our best to HELP you. If you're doing something that's not making it fun for other players, or you are doing something that isn't right, we will politely let you know. If you're not sure about something, we will help you. Just ask. We won't boot you out for anything if you listen to us and try to take our advice. If you don't listen to us or try to buck the system, THEN we will bring out our Boss hammers and come after you.
