Lesedi stretched his body tensely, looking fairly relaxed as he let out a loud yawn. There was something comforting about returning to the rogue lands where he’d been born and being accompanied by his Stormborn comrades made the moment all the sweeter. He liked being part of a pride and being known by name by a large group of tough lions. He felt at home amongst them.

This was his first viking and Lesedi wanted to make sure he didn’t make a fool of himself. It would be a short trip with other less experienced Reavers under the supervision of an older Stormborn, nothing like Ruzanski’s first viking as a Captain but still important in its own right. It would serve to get to know a few Reavers a little better and slowly begin the path to prove himself worthy as a Stormborn warrior.

Bousvor had been relieved when he'd been finally included in a viking. Since joining he had spent most of his time adjusting to the pride. He didn't talk much and watched a great deal. Intently he marked the path they were taking to the rogue lands. Just in case, he wanted to be able to find his own way back. The best way for that was to find landmarks of his own.

Not only was he watching the land. His green eyes glanced now and then toward the others in the group. There was the older lion who was leading them, the newbies, and of course themselves. His eyes fell on a tawny male with spots.

Looking around, Lesedi felt he had eyes on him and turned to search for the source of the discomfort. He found a lion with a white mane and odd markings staring at him and after a brief hesitation he took a few steps towards the other male. He could get a head start at that whole getting-to-know-other-Reavers thing right now, after all.

“Bousvor, right?” he asked, wondering if had guessed correctly and if the other would remember his name. “I’m Lesedi. This is your first viking as well if I’m not mistaken. Were you born in the pride? Or are you an Outlander?”

The tawny male watched silently as the object of his observation moved closer. His joining had almost been an accidently thing. Now he was a Reaver part of a pride. Bousvor was quiet; prefering to observe from the sidelines than really get involved. He'd slowly been meeting others of the pride. The male nodded his head slowly at Lesedi's first question. It was awhile before he responded to the rest.

"It is." His paws carried him easily as he noted another distinct rise in the land. "Outlander. You?" He had a mild curiosity about the others in the pride. The fierce spirit of the pride was an interest of his, and he wondered how others came to be there. Why did other lions join?

“Same.” Lesedi replied when Bousvor finally spoke. He moved to sit next to the other lion but kept a good distance between them. It seemed polite not to intrude on the other lion’s personal space when they barely knew each other, after all. “I joined recently. I’ve been training with the older Stormborn for a while but it’s the first time I’ve been asked to join a viking.”

The other male didn’t appear to be particularly talkative but that didn’t seem to discourage the spotted Reaver who had grown up with his stern grandfather as his sole father figure.

“It’s my first time in a pride. I used to be a rogue before.” He elaborated briefly before his eyes turned to their surroundings. “It looks like a good day. A good day to die, as we now say. Maybe we’ll find decent thralls to bring back to the pride.” Lesedi had been hoping his first viking was unmistakably successful – marking a good start in his Stormborn life - and nothing said success like the capture of a good number of useful thralls.

Bousvor was use to traveling long distances all day. He was a bit startled at first that a hault was called to rest. Lesedi had no problems sitting down right away. He wondered how much further they'd go. After settling himself down on the hot ground, he turned his attention back to the other male. There was so much he had to learn about the pride when he first joined. Now he was taking all he'd learned and being an active member. So was Lesedi.

He nodded agreement. Life as a rogue was much more familiar to him than living with and relying on others. The constant noise was something it had taken him awhile to adjust to. His eyes followed the other male's glance around. "Is what it is." Bousvor wondered if they would go aviking if the weather was bad, or turn back if it turned bad. Somehow he doubted it. The mention of thralls caught his attention and deep green eyes watched Lesedi. "What you do with thralls?" There was a slight curiosity about them. He had heard of them, and seen them around the pride.

Lesedi’s head tilted to the side at the question. He wondered if Bousvor had meant Stormborn in general or simply Lesedi’s interest in particular so in the end he decided to answer both.

“Well, personally I don’t really want to claim one. I like the den nice and quiet.” The idea of capturing and keeping thralls didn’t really bother the young Reaver though. He had grown up in a complicated environment and was quite comfortable with the concept of slavery so the Stormborn customs didn’t really shock him as much as they did some Outlanders.

“But the pride needs them and we’ll get prestige and honors from bringing some back home. Most thralls hunt, clean the dens, serve as messengers… and babysit the cubs, I guess. It would be good if we could increase their numbers.” There were other uses for thralls, female thralls that is, but Lesedi wasn’t really sure how he felt on that particular subject. The extreme violence that he’d seen from some of the older Stormborn was enough to bother him and that particular kind of violence was something he had definitely not grown up with and he didn’t think it would ever feel natural no matter how simple and normal some of his fellow Reavers made it sound like.

He was quiet as he thought about Lesedi's comment. A thrall was a piont of presige wasn't it? Bousvor twiched his tail, "couldn't you capture one then give them away?" To his mind, whoever caught the Thrall then owned them, although others could give that Thrall tasks. He wasn't sure if giving them away was an option. Thinking about it, he realized that he would like to have one or two to call his own. It hadn't occurred to him before, but talking about it directly brought the feeling forward. The tawny male nodded.

"I would like one or two." A couple Thralls would certainly go along with his plans. Bousvor had no intention of remaining just a Reaver for long. He glanced around as the band started to get up and move out. "Come, we go." He gave a small grin. Perhaps he could Lesedi get himself a Thrall.

“One or two, huh?” Lesedi repeated, considering the idea for himself. Nah… it still sounded like such a hassle. What would he even do with a thrall alone in his den? Talk to it? No, he liked his den just as it was: a little dusty and with a few occasional leftovers from his meals but always quiet and undisturbed. Something Bousvor said caught his attention. “Oh yes, you can give them away. There is great number of unclaimed thralls that do most of the hunting and babysitting for the pride. The freeborns usually keep a close eye on them but I suppose the rest of the pride keeps them in line as well.”

He stood quickly as the others did but remained next to Bousvor as he walked.

“Well, it will look good if you find your first thrall on your first Viking, I suppose.” He looked at their surroundings almost as if expecting to spot a lone lioness in the distance. “Maybe you’ll find one for yourself now. Who knows? Maybe we’ll bring a whole batch back home with us.” The lion chuckled, already imagining the surprised faces around the pride if they did manage to return with a great number of useful thralls.

Bousvor knew he wouldn't mind many serving him, but he wasn't going to start out greedy. This was his first viking after all. The solemn lion quietly accepted Lesedi's company as they continued to walk. His companion talked enough for the both of them, and Bousvor was willing to listen and gleen information. He was definately interested by the fact that there were many thralls unclaimed at the pride. Why did so many exist unclaimed?

He wasn't going to stoop to taking someone else's hard work. Perhaps it was a bit lofty of him to want only ones he had captured himself. However, Bousvor was going to be selective on who he brought to the pride as his thrall. Thralls already there might be loyal to the ones who brought them still. "That is good they server a vital fucntion."

It would be nice to capture one today, he thought. Bousvor doubted it though. He simply wasn't ready to add that factor into his plans yet. "Maybe. Don't be disappointed, there are many of us here. Let us focus on getting supplies." Quietly he nodded to a small herd of ibex hiding behind some bushes, out of the band's traveling path. Would his companion go for it?

Last post from Lesedi, I think. Unless you want to play out the whole hunt. =3

Lesedi chuckled lightly under his breath before he followed his companion’s gaze. Ibex… interesting creatures of strong hide and massive horns. He wondered what kind of adornments Tal, the crafter freeborn he’d met a few days before, would produce with such materials. He had promised to bring her new supplies in exchange for her services so he supposed this would be a good start.

He nodded at the other male before turning to the Captain of the band and walking closer to the dark lion to whisper a few quick words. After getting his approval, Lesedi returned to Bousvor’s side, a grin of anticipation already firmly set on his maw.

“Let’s go then.” He whispered – even though they were still too far for any of the creatures to hear – dropping his head to a more stealthy stance and slowly made his way towards the herd.

And done!

He stood quietly as Lesedi got permission from the captain. That wasn't something he would have considered. Bousvor was use to making his own decisions. The grin on the other male's face told him, permission had been granted. He gave a nod to the captain and followed Lesedi in a silent stalk. This would be a good start to the viking.
