Just the smell was enough to bring back good memories. She'd spent whole days in here during her summer vacations, winding between the numerous bookcases to find tales of romance and mystery. This was her first time in the building since returning to Destiny City a few months ago, and the blonde immediately scolded herself for not visiting sooner. True, she didn't have as much time or inclination to read as she had before, but there were still those moments when you just wanted to escape the world into a good old book.

Casting her glance over to the desk momentarily, Selena was disappointed to find the handsome librarian she'd previously met wasn't there. She hoped he hadn't left, he'd only made her vacations more enjoyable. Pondering for a few moments on what type of story she was after - a beautiful fairytale, a timeless romance, a fierce love affair - she quickly realized exactly what she was after and made a beeline for it. She was pleased to find that in her absence the library hadn't been reorganized too much, and her memory served her well as she quickly found the right bookcase, scanning to spines before finally selected her choice.

A Scandal in Bohemia sat comfortably in her arms - it was a somewhat battered copy, but as she opened the cover and ran her fingers over the first page it was clear that it had merely been enjoyed by many a reader. Arthur Conan Doyle was a genius, and his books were classics - Sherlock Holmes was a household name, and should anyone ask her for a book recommendation she would suggest them without a thought (unless of course they were after romance, but that was a different kettle of fish entirely). Whilst most people were transfixed by the series' hero, however, Selena had selected this book in particular for its introduction of a Miss Irene Adler. When she was younger Selena had respected and adored the woman beyond belief. She was strong, independent, sassy, intelligent...everything she'd wanted to be. Everything she was still striving for.

Still standing before the bookcase, the blonde flicked to the first page and eagerly began to read.
