Name: [Lukongolo]
Race: [Eathling: Shifter, found under the watchful radiant light of the moon]
Gender: [Boy]
Base Traits: [Prickly, Damp, Sparse.]
Class: [Skirking irksome quarrelers at every opportunity, He looks to walk the path of a competent Defender.]
Personality: [Daring and uncouth, Lukongolo goes to great lengths to preserve himself as a loner. He insists that his distant attitude toward the tribe is to preserve his reputation, however he spends so much time on his own he couldn’t possibly know what the tribe actually says about him when he’s got his back turned. Very self-reliant, He takes most of his meals alone, on the ground, beneath the protection of the floors of the looming tree corridors. While some shifters find the breeze of the upper canopy liberating, Lukongolo finds the still air and rustling brush of the ground much safer and much more accepting. ]
Description: [Utterly unkempt hair shoots outward in all directions; it is stiff and dark and refuses to succumb to gravity’s influence. Underneath the matted waves of hair two dark gray spheres peer out into the world large and unwavering. A Light skinned heart shaped face sits atop a wire frame. Like all earthlings he is possessed of crystalline protrusions, his are heavily concentrated over his shin bones, with sharp clusters around his other joints. Wide, long, and intensely calloused feet keep him upright and are the perfect roots to allow him to stand perfectly straight and still for quite a long time, as well as give him great balance while moving quickly. ]
Clothing: [ A simple cloth vest keeps his shoulders safe, It has rudimentary pockets that Lukongolo uses to stash various trinkets and treasures from the forest floor. aside from his vest he only wears a long lion cloth.]
Accessories: [ None.]
History: [His being born was no great surprise to his parents, there was no great struggle to bring him into the world and no great danger was he to his mother. From an early age he felt as though his existence was taken for granted. His imagination is stifled greatly but he has never tired of observing the earths repetitious cycles time and time again. Rather than interrupt, Lukongolo would instead watch the same centipede crawl back to its nest every day and observe as though each day the fulfillment of this journey was to be considered a miracle. It was after much appreciation of many animals’ mundane daily routines and their returning to their resting places that Lukongolo started venturing farther and farther into the forest late at night, confident in his own ability to make it back to the village, however far he might go.]

Hey! =D

To start off, I really like his concept... his base traits especially are really unique and fascinating; they convey a lot of character in and of themselves. I just have a few questions for you to consider befre Lukongolo gets his stamp of approval!

In a world where community is key to survival, what makes him so dilligently strive to maintain his "loner" status? Why is that reputation important to him?

What does he think about the Alkidikes, who he has no doubt encountered, living primarily on the floor? How does he deal with confrontations with him?

What would he do if he were in a situation where he needed help?

He feels his existence has been taken for granted: how does that affect his actions and mental state today? It seems to me that someone who felt underappreciated would strive for appreciation, but he does the opposite, in seeking solitude. Why is this?

I look forward to your responses! =3

XD thanks for the examination questions! this is going to help flesh him out a lot!

Oki so, Part of the reason Lukongolo takes pride in his ability to stand on his own, most of the time, comes from the sharp contradiction to the societal norm.
He tries not to think of it, because it feels very selfish, but deep down he really can't stand the constant intrusion that would exist if he embraced his family life. That being said, having spent so much time away reaffirming his own stand alone complex, when he does interact socially with his tribe he can be pretty rude and off putting, without ever truly meaning to. He has become just sort of a really selfish kid, and with him feeling so taken for granted, he takes plenty of the gifts around him for granted. It's gotten to the point where it's easier on every if he just stay nearest the floor. It's become the place where people expect him to be. It's his niche.

There isn't anything wrong with Alkidikes in Lukongolo's mind, ever since that first encounter when he had to be forcibly convinced that they weren't animals, and that calling them that was taken as highly offensive. That wasn't the last time Lukongolo has walked back to the village caked with blood. Now-a-days when combing the forest floor, if he should meet a gang of alkidikes he'd be most likely to introduce himself and seek to stick his ruddy nose in their business, sure to announcing his in-hostility at the very beginning. If he happened across a solitary alkidike however, watching from a safe distance would be his approach. His rationale being "the more of them there are, the more likely it is that one of them won't care to kill me."

In most cases where he find himself in a pickle he'd like to make his own escape, even if it comes at the price of flesh and blood. In a true jam he'd be likely to look for a temporary "friendship" if it proved a safer route than his own stubborn head strong idea. He likes words a whole bunch, and is a pretty good judge of character in animals, if at all possible he'd like to use a slick tongue to try to scrape by a tricky situation. He is a practitioner of self preservation by ANY means necessary.

Just one thing, which we've already discussed:

He would probably have more luck approaching a single Alkidike, rather than a group. The group of girls would no doubt be more confident in their battle mentality, if out together, and be more likely to attack, than if they were found alone, without their sisters.

Otherwise, I give this Quest a stamp of approval =D
