The days had stretched out long and uneventful, with not a lion in the distance to show for it. Mpenda could not understand the mundaneness of it all. He really despised when things were as depressingly dull as they'd been the last few weeks. Where were all of the fabulous prides, the fabulous lions? He would even settle for some ugly lions if it meant being able to make fun and cheer himself up a bit.

He had at least found a shady little watering hole, and that must have counted for something. Not that anyone was around... perhaps it was not early enough in the evening? The first stars were beginning to cool off and the savannah was letting it's heat escape from the earth which meant not many would have need for the water right then. But still... "No one?" He said out loud, almost as if making sure.

Held on his face was a mixture of disappointment and disgust. He really needed social interaction! He sighed and moved to the water's edge, leaning down to drink.

User Image Velum sighed heavily, hoping someone - anyone- would hear. Her days had been soooo long and soooooooo lonely as of late. She needed company, and also a good meal. Her nose had gradually led her to a watering hole, her hopes were high that some prey would be feeling thirsty and grab a drink, while she could grab a bite. Unfortunately, all she saw once she got close was the form of a lion.

Wait...
Unfortunately?
No, not in the least bit!

Her pace quickened and she trotted over to meet this lion. FINALLY, someone to talk to about her life and just how hard it really was.

Mpenda was a social creature by nature, as long as you were the right sort of company. He couldn't simply turn this off about himself, could he? He swatted at the water in a sulky manner, a deep frown etched on his maw. He did not have a face that was meant for frowning. It was meant for suave looks and bright smiles that females couldn't resist! Some males, too!

His tail flicked and his ears perked. Was that.. the scent... a new scent had just wafted past his nose. He glanced up and around and his icy gaze almost immediately zoned in on one of the brightest lionesses he'd ever seen in his life.

She was stunning, though not as good looking as himself. It was about time he'd run into an attractive female! The last one he'd run into... well he did not really want to think about her. "Well hello there, beautiful." He purred out, a slow smile spreading over his features.

Velum puffed up with pride. Aah, he recognized. Wonderful. "Oh, who me?" She batted her eyelashes as though he could mean anyone else. He was a nice salmon-color and seemed to be just the kind of company she was usually after. But she couldn't just roll over and be that demure.

She padded even closer to the male and sat down right next to him. "It's sooooo nie to have company after so long being alone." She leaned over and lapped up some water. Subtly, she was probing if he was alone, too. She didn't mind being the 'other lioness,' except in the event that the lion's mate or companion was lurking somewhere nearby. She'd narrowly escaped getting scars on her pretty, pretty hide on numerous occasion.

So it was better to play it safe, but… This male was just so handsome.

It wasn't that he wanted his females to be easy, he rather enjoyed a challenge, but he did want them to be beautiful. He couldn't stand ugly lionesses, and his last meeting paid homage to that. He smirked when she batted those pretty blues at him and let his gaze wander away. He almost instantly knew that a game was afoot, he could practically purr with pleasure.

And she was alone! He glanced back to her and mimicked her action, lapping up water, and considered his answer. "A lion alone often feels the weight of not being able to converse with others." Which was his own way of agreeing, probably. "Though it is only good as long as the company isn't boring, no?" And only if they were attractive.

"I could have gladly done without my last meeting. What may I call such a fair lioness as yourself?" He had a few ideas in mind, of course.

Velum was, well, not much of a challenge. Not when she'd been as lonely as she had been. Not when she was as hungry as she was. And not with a lion so handsome. She leaned in as though she were about to nuzzle into his mane, but stopped short, just close enough for her whiskers to mingle with his fur and she pulled back.

"Velum."

"I am pretty fine company, even for myself, but everyone has their breaking point." She sighed heavily and sat, wrapping her tail around herself so that she could groom it with her claws. "I do hope our encounter will prove to break this monotony." She gave him a sideways glance and batted her eyelashes at him.

"And you, sir? What may I call you?"

He didn't flinch at all when she moved her face close to him, practically glowing from the attention he was getting. This female knew what she was doing, that was for sure. "Velum." He let her name roll off of his tongue, a slight purr following after. "My, that is lovely. A pretty name for a pretty female, as it should be."

He chuckled softly at her remark, though no doubt she was very serious with what she meant. "I find my favorite company for myself is myself as well, but a lovely face never hurts." He winked at her.

A sly grin spread on his features. "Oh, I doubt this encounter will be anything but. You can call me Mpenda. Or sexy, whichever you prefer." He raised his eyebrows suggestively, not shy.

Judging by his reaction to her testing, Mpenda was ready to play the same game she was. Oh, wonderful! Just wonderful! Velum hadn't had any playmates in quite some time, and though she wasn't one to accept just any old player, this game was a nasty habit of hers. She laughed and covered her face with a paw, as though she were blushing.

"Ohh," she said, breathy and almost a whisper, "Mr. Mpenda, you're much too much for me!" She stood and paced around him, letting her deep blue eyes follow where his fur contrasted and linger and trace the blue marking on his shoulder. She couldn't find anything she didn't like. Velum let herself get closer and closer, before rubbing her head under his chin and sitting right next to him.

Of course, that may be different in a week. As much as she liked a male's company, usually she didn't like it for too long.

"Yes, I think I'll call you Mpenda. "Sexy" would just be redundant." She returned his wink.

He liked this Velum already, more so than for just her pretty face. She had that sort of vapid personality that he'd come to love in females. Hell, he was sure others had thought the same of his personality at times. It didn't bother him one bit. What was a life if not for the beautiful things? Forget danger and adventure... the type of danger he was looking for fell only on to males who might be mated to females he wanted to woo. And adventure? Getting a pretty female to spend the night with him was his idea of an adventure.

He gave her a cocky smile and turned his head slightly to watch as she paced around him until he could no longer see her. She wasn't missing from his view for long. "Perhaps not much too much... but just the thing you're looking for." He purred out, making sure not to leave his words as a question. His eye lids lowered slightly as she came closer, closer... ah, look at that, she was already being physical! His type of female indeed!

A gruff purr escaped his throat, a reaction to her rubbing her head under his chin. "True... why say what is already known? Hence while I'll refrain from calling you gorgeous and just stick with Velum. Velum," he purred her name out that time, "has a much nicer ring to it anyhow. Now, what brings you about these parts of the rogue lands?" Small talk was boring... hopefully there wouldn't be too much of it.

Velum laughed a breezy sort of laugh. He was flattering her. Both the lions knew what was afoot, what would happen that day, that night, and a few more days after (if circumstances allowed). At this point she would have been able to tell him it was over, he won, he'd get what they both wanted, but she was so vain, why have him stop?

She went limp, falling back into him and rolled around in his plush pink fur. Twisting her body deftly, as though she could move within her skin (as it seems all cats can), she then positioned herself on top of the male, looming over him.

Her usually demure facial expression now had a rather wicked grin on it, though her eyes were still soft. Nuzzling into his mane, and whispering into his ear, she said "Well, why don't I just show you?"

THE END.
NO DIRTY SMUT HERE. NO SIR. >:T just wait for the next RP
