 Part I Part II -------------------------
Years of dealing with unruly cubs has prepared Nubia for such a remark. The male lion could complain and say all the nasty things he wanted, but Nubia has made up her mind. There wasn't anything in the world that would stop her from taking care of him. She'll see this through till he was at least able to get on his feet again. It wasn't in her nature to leave a poor animal alone. She was sure taking care of this adult lion was no different than taking care of a litter of cubs. Her experienced told her that adults can be just as needy as cubs. She didn't have much say when it came to adults, but this male would have to listen to her. Besides, he didn't have a choice. He was a few minutes away from death if Nubia hadn't gotten him water.
“Now, Sir. We'll have none of that.” She shakes her head for emphasis. “My mother raised me right and I've taken care of quite a few youngin's. You'll be no different. Your sorry state is the worst I've ever seen. Now stay put while I go fetch some more moss.” She whipped away the rest of the moss from his mouth and dashed back into the forest.

The water is helping. Just that little bit has sparked life. Though, he needed more. A lot more. The craving for food and water was enough to have Uyoga start devouring the dirt, but of course, he would never do that. He'd rather die with pride than succumb to lowering himself to prey.
He watched as the creature darted back into the trees. He needed to move. Find a place to hide and then attack when it got back. However, there was no way he could move. No energy. His will was there, but his body couldn't hold up. It said it would take care of him. Preposterous. Nobody took care of him. Uyoga was a proud warrior that didn't need a helpless animal to feed him like a cub. Though... there was nothing he could do about it. Well, there is one thing. He will die.

Nubia dashed through the forest. The route to the stream was easy enough to remember, but time was not on her side. The male was stubborn and would require her own strength reserves in order to put up with him. He's going to be a paw full. Though, through this experience, she knows she'll grow stronger for it. The gods wouldn't send her something she couldn't handle... at least... she hoped not. Of course, she's never experienced a gift (or curse) from the gods. Not quite sure if that's a good thing or a bad one.... she'll stick with good.
Her inner dialogue had her to the stream within minutes. She made sure to pause and take a drink for herself. No sense in not taking care of her own needs. She's experienced that before... looking after others before herself. It didn't end well.
She gathered up multiple clumps of moss in her jowls, making sure not to squeeze the water out of them. It would be pointless to bring back clumps of dirt. Time was closing in--time to go back.

Come on, you useless piece of flesh! He demanded his body to move, or in this case... he was just a hunk of flesh. Useless. His body was absolutely useless! No more was he the fierce warrior. No, he was reduced to begging for life. Uyoga is no beggar. This trial he set out on seems to be ruining him... Maybe he will fail. Die in the moonlight and pass through the gates of hell. Sure, why not? No...that's no warrior death. I must fight! He strained one last time and roared with inner strength. Though, no sound escaped his lips, his body responded and lifted itself off the ground. His new found energy sent life jetting through his veins. Maybe it was the water, no matter. He could move again. The creature was in for a surprise when it returned. Yes. Food.
Uyoga slowly half stumbled, half dragged his body towards the cover of trees. He will hide behind the entrance the creature ran through. With any luck, it will return that same way and he will kill it from behind. Not his most noble kill, but at this point, one couldn't afford to be picky.

I must hurry! Oh, my! Nubia wasn't quite sure how long she spent at the stream, but any time was too much! Oh, she would never forgive herself if he died on her watch. Granted....she wasn't really watching him, but at least she's given him water. That has to count towards something. Plus, she planned to see this through and she wasn't going to lose a life on her watch!
She made it back to the clearing. Something was off though.... she stepped through the trees and looked around. He was gone. Weird...there's no way he had enough strength to move. She continued to scan the clearing. A noise reached her ears from behind her. She twisted around in time to see a giant red blur coming for her throat.
