Wembejani was not looking for anything in particular. How could he be, when he had no idea where he was, or what there might be to look for. Was anything worth it around here? He didn't know, and knew there was really only one way to find it out.
He would just walk around and see if he bumped into anything cool.
He was a rather laid back lion, unless someone annoyed him or insulted his pride. There was not a specific thing that set him off, just whatever occurred to him as insulting at the time. That temper made him a little unpredictable, though he was more talk than he was action.
There was a method to his madness, though it wasn't much. He did his best not to be temperamental but he also didn't fight it when his temper took charge. he knew he would never get violent, and that was the important thing. Yelling at someone was rude, maybe, but if they got him to that point they probably deserved it.
He yawned as he walked, closing his eyes and heaving a tremendous sigh as he padded along.

Being off-duty was just so weird for Jian. She didn't have much to do when she'd been ordered not to follow the Empress around. They had been visiting the South House when Ting Lan suddenly decided she wanted to be rid of her shadow for a few days. The blue lioness knew better than to ask why, and simply obeyed.
But it was a few days. Few usually meant three, occasionally four, or five, so that was at least three whole days of no job. This was only the first few hours of it!
Everyone in the pride knew who she was, or at least what she did. So wandering out of the borders had been no issue. She figured there wasn't much to lose going outside for a few days, since noting else was desired of her. Jian was barely a couple hours out of pridal lands when she ran into Wembejani. Or, saw him from a distance, walking around. She didn't make immediate action to approach the lion, but it just so happened they were walking in opposite directions. She didn't want to awkwardly turn away, so she just kept going.

Wembe saw the lioness approaching and tilted his head at her. He, of course, had no idea who she was or what she did since he was not from their pride. He didn't even realize he was in a pride, though there were a lot more lion smells here than there had been in just a short distance off.
He padded toward her, not breaking stride until he was close. He slowed then, looking at her curiously.
"Hello," he said, noting that she smelled of more lions, too. This must have been a place where they gathered, and that was why he was picking up on all the light scents.
He noted to himself that he had never had a home before. Not a proper one. He had mostly been wandering around. He also noted, distantly, that he did not really mind this fact. He liked it best when he could find new and fresh patches of green, and that only happened when he was wandering.
"I'm not somewhere I'm not supposed to be, am I?"

People did not often try to talk to her, particularly not rogues. She rarely saw rogues nowadays. So Jians reaction was slightly slow, but at least she didn't seem particularly bothered by the contact. "Hi." She replied, feeling a little weird. She usually just listened, it was strange to be questioned.
"Not really. Not yet, anyways." She shrugged. He still wasn't actually in pridal lands, and it would be unfair to treat him as a trespasser. Jian had once not cared about fairness, but you picked up a few things when enough time was spent with Ting Lan. She might have let him know her pride was a couple hours' walk away, but it didn't seem important just yet. "Who're you?" She supposed she had no business asking anyone that around here, but Jian was trying to kill time.

Wembe looked thoughtfully at her, then at the area around them. As if he could see a line where he would cross over into that place he wasn't supposed to go. But of course there was no such line, not a physical one anyway, so he would just have to be careful in general.
He smiled at her thinly. It wasn't hard for him to smile, he did it often enough, but they were always lazy and feeble. Easy going expressions that did not put in too much effort, as he was just not the kind of lion that went out of his way to do anything.
Except when his temper took him, of course.
"My name is Wembejani. Just a wanderer, I guess, though I don't particularly like it. I've just not found anywhere big enough to rest my rump." He joke, and he gave her another lazy smile, tilting his head. "Who are you?"

Jian smiled back, though the reaction was a little slow. She wasn't usually in situations where she was supposed to smile. Usually, she was playing the part of serious royal guard lady, and then she would be acting all serious. Not much smiling. Ting Lan would do the smiling, when it was appropriate.
"Your rump isn't that big. You can probably find a place." Perhaps he would assume she had been trying to be funny, though Jian hadn't, really. "I'm Pupitar." She remembered, easily enough, that this was an outsider, and so she did not offer him her proper name. Her birth name was Pupitar, but the lioness had quickly grown more accustomed to Jian.

Wembe stared at her for a long time, thinking over her words. He grinned at that, though, realizing she had called his butt big. Well. it was, really. He had said it was, so why couldn't she? Or maybe she really meant it wasn't that big. Still, that would make it big.
He was very thoughtfully considering what should have been a throw away comment.
"Hello Pupitar," he sat down slowly, easing himself calmly down and tilting his head lazily to one side until his neck began to get sore and he tilted it to the other. His big mane fluffed up and settled down with each movement. He looked around them, smiling.
"Is this your home? Or nearby? You made it seem like it was nearby, anyway." He was curious about prides, as he had never been to one, and certainly never belonged to one. Curious in a detached way, as he was too laid back to be serious about too much. Yet, at least.

The greeting seemed out of place, now that they had already exchanged a few words. So she replied with an equally out of place "Hello Wembejani." She tilted his head slightly as he sat, then politely sat too. That was the sort of thing she had to do whenever Ting Lan met people.
"Yeah, my home is nearby. A couple hours, I guess. I just felt like going for a walk." She shrugged, not feeling the need to explain she was the Empress' royal guard, and had been relieved of duty for the next few days.

"That's a long walk," he said, looking a bit disgruntled. He would not call that a 'walk', if she had the intention of going back as well. That was a long walk back.
"You do know you have to go all the way back at some point, right?"
He smiled though, lazily. Clearly he was not the kind of lion who would go too far out of his way. He was lazy, but he had a good heart. He watched her, thinking it would be getting dark by the time she turned around to go home.
"Would you like some company back?" he offered, twitching his tail. It was more like a flop, his tail bouncing heavily and plopping like a fish out of water. He smiled at her easily enough, generous under all that lazy gruffness.

She blinked and briefly tilted her head. A long walk? "Yeah. I have the time." Jian shrugged. A couple days to waste meant she could spare a few hours of walking. No one would challenge her upon return, because Jian knew there weren't even that many guards for the time being. If there were any... well, she had her title to toss about.
She couldn't help but smile back, because it really was a while since she had a nice random encounter with someone. She didn't usually stop to chat on the job, though there had never been any reprimands for doing so.
Would she like some company back. "Sure. You're offering?" It seemed pleasant enough!

Wembe smiled and nodded his big head. He was a big lion. Not fat, maybe, as he was agile enough when he needed to be, but he was certainly well rounded. He preferred the term rotund. He wasn't sure why, as someone had said it once and it sounded nicer than fat.
So he went with it.
"Sure. I could do with some walking with purpose for once," he said leisurely. He looked like a lion who never knew a day of purpose in his life. He was dedicated and loyal but mostly just to himself and the metaphorical muscle was getting a bit weak from lack of use. It would be nice to do something, even as small as keeping someone company, for a change.
Why didn't he talk to be people more? This was actually pretty nice.
"Can you tell me about your home?" he asked, genuinely curious now.

Lithia_Brandon Guh, sorry. Forgetful, I am. @___@ This post can probably be a little end thingy. Do you still want to fling them? She nodded. She could use that as well. Even before she had come to Tianxia, Jian had never been one for too much company and chatter. But after living long enough exclusively for her job, a little refresher every now and then seemed perfectly fair and right.
"I can tell you some things." She said, honestly. Even if no one would ever know she had talked to this lion, Jian simply was unwilling to break the 'rules' and let an outsider know of things that were none of his business. Not that at this point Tianxia had many secrets anyways...
So as they walked along, she contentedly told him about Tianxia, about the lands and the different Houses and whatever she didn't feel would be too much.

wooga Paes (Tacking on an end post for me just so I can say I do want to breed them still and I am so sorry I've been so slow and dumb ;-; ) Wembejani smiled thinly, his big tail thumping behind him in approval. He walked with her and listened, nodding his head and thinking that this place sounded rather nice, and some place that he would, perhaps, like to see. Maybe settle in.
He'd never broached an idea like that before, so it was interesting and new, and didn't take much effort. All things he very much approved of. And he liked his current company, which just made it all better.
