The sound of insects buzzing through the trees. The muted roar of the river. There was a peace in the woods that Jove hadn't experienced in far too long. The dry air of the desert and the lush jungle on the islands had their own peace, but that was long gone. And deep down, it felt like this was Home.

The little pup trotted over the dry needles and dead leaves, leaving no tracks as he meandered around the outskirts of the woods. This was what peace was like.

A familiar, fond scent caught his tiny nose, and the foxfire picked up his pace, bouncing until he found an old, rotten log covered with shelf fungi. At it's base, little button mushrooms peeked out from the soft loam. It smelled HEAVENLY. The ghost took a deep breath, and then curled up just inside the sunken lip of the log.

Another deep breath, inhaling the earthy aroma. He felt like he could lie there forever, surrounded by the comforting sounds and scents, and before he knew it he had drifted off into a relaxing nap.

The students had come back from their trip to the island and apparently, they had not enjoyed it. He couldn't blame them. From what he'd been told, they had been attacked and the horsemen now resided in halloween. It was all very jarring and King was a bit glad he'd chosen not to go.

The forest was a refuge, even with the horsemen about. Few students took to the woods and their thick foliage, but it was as close to home as King could get really. All it needed was a thick blanket of snow, and it would have been perfect.

The crack of a few branches under his paws, and in the distance as familiar scent. Cocking his head slightly, the wolfos went forward. Seeing the mushrooms before he saw a small foxfire. One that smelled particularly like Jove.

Sitting down, the woflos watched him for a short while before nudging the minipet (?) with his paw.

Tybalt was also glad to be back home. The islands were pleasant and a nice change of scenery, but the black dog couldn't help but feeling that he was being looked down on the entire time he was there. Like some foreign object that didn't belong. Which--could be because that was exactly the case. He didn't belong there. Regardless, he was glad to be back. Back where he knew the grounds and back where he was most comfortable. The forest had never looked so welcoming.

Eager to be back in his natural form, the black dog trotted down what he liked to think was the scenic route. Clearly more than happy to waste time romping around. He was tired of being told to stay put and sit still. He needed to get out and roam about, without having to constantly worry about offending people. Now he was free to do as he pleased.

Recognizing this section of the woods, he was about to make a turn for the river when something caught his attention. Two scents. Both of them canine. One of which was easily recognizable as Jove. The other... was unfamiliar, or rather, he vaguely remembered it, but couldn't say where.

Oh well. There was a remedy to that!

The river forgotten, the black dog made a beeline for the two scents. The two which thankfully were mingled together and likely in the same area. All he had to do now was find them. Now, if it had just been Jove, that might have been a problem. But with another student present, it meant he could probably find them easily.

Turns out he was right.

He spotted the wolfos first and then followed the others line of sight, down towards a slumbering foxfire, next to some mushrooms. Jove.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." He said, without any warning. "I hear he wakes up cranky."

It was one of those naps that felt like only moments had passed. So when the little pup felt the sudden nudge by that large paw, he did the best thing a tiny ghost could do.

Little jaws opened wide, and clamped down on the giant white thing.

But as soon as the little teeth had sunk into his victim's paw, Jove had dislodged himself and scurried to the very back of the hollow log, to hunker down amidst the mushrooms. He glared with big, wary eyes as he waited for King to 'attack' again.

And then his glance shifted to see Tybalt in the background. Now THAT was a canine form he recognized! His fluffy ears perked and his tail wagged, and only then did he realize the white dog in front of him didn't smell like a dog, it smelled like... snow. And that was when the remorse kicked in.

The arrival of Tybalt had King turn but alas, in doing so he missed the tiny mouth going around his paw. "What do you- AH!" With a yelp, King flung himself back whining. That had hurt more then one might think a tiny set of teeth would.
"Apparently so." He licked his paw, happy to see no blood or real wound. "I should probably let sleeping dog lie." Looking to where Jove had fled, the wolfos crouched down on his belly, peering into the log. "Jove?" He might have been right but still unsure, ear flicked as he tried to ignore the ever present hum of the woods.

"I didn't disturb you did I? "

Tybalt snorted which could have also been mistaken for laughter.

It was no surprise how things turned out. In fact, the black dog himself had been bit by the tiny wisp on more than one occasion, that he had seen it coming. It had only been a matter of time.

"See? Its just King, Jove." He assured, plopping himself down onto a nice, comfortable pile of browning leaves; where he watched the two with mild interest. "You can come out of the log, y'know." Now he grinned, hoping the pup would take the invitation to join them. He didn't know how long he could spend talking to a log after all.

"What brings you out here anyways? Daily walks?" He asked King, tilting his head curiously. Bonus if it were true. Taking walks were always fun, but if there were other canines about, even better. He already knew Jove liked to hang around here, but he never really came across others. Well, aside from LW that was.

Jove's ears were flat against his head as he crawled half way out of the log, his fur still smushed to one side in a full-body bed head. Even if he HAD been disturbed in the middle of his nap, that was no excuse for biting!

But Tybalt, a little ways off, appeared to find the whole situation amusing, and King wasn't entirely put off either. Was it only the two of them, or did the whole K9 club come out for this? Jove looked around, little ears swiveling as he listened to the woods. Nope, just them.

The pup flopped onto his belly, his legs stretching out behind him so his black paw pads could just barely be seen past his fluff. He was kind of curious too, were they both out for a walk? He could show them some pretty neat things if that's what they were doing. Though it was a shame neither of them could fit in the spectacular logs the forest had to offer.
