Knuckles Chaotix for the 32X is one of the few remaining titles that haven't been ported recently (although Tails' Skypatrol and Tails' Adventure have), and I think that a port of that is more likely than a new title right now.
With it being Sonic's 15th anniversary this year, there's a lot of focus on reasserting the hedgehog as the face of the brand right now.

[quote="Nuala] With it being Sonic's 15th anniversary this year, there's a lot of focus on reasserting the hedgehog as the face of the brand right now.
and nothing says "reasserting" than a game starring the anti-Hedgehog and polls on Sega's site asking which character they'd like to have their own game.
Chances are the 15th anniversary game wont even be out this year, the Playstation 3 has been majorly delayed by up to a whole year because of it's insanely expensive hardware specs, the Revolution is still hiding in the shadows and the Xbox crowd are the least suseptable crowd to purchase a Sonic game.
This year really feels like it'll be a no show for Sonic, with or without his friends.

I thought that that'd just mean that all of the marketing backing would shift to Riders?

It's already out and about in the countries where it matters. The brand was barely pushed at all, I've not even heard sign of adverts. Which is sort of odd, noting that Shadow had cinema adverts before Harry Potter and even Sonic X is sponsoring McDonalds.

The Sonic Rush marketing has been a little unnoticeable, come to that... But yeah- I doubt we'll see that next-gen game till next year. If it means they don't rush it, I don't have a problem with that. (Besides, the price of the PS3 might have dropped to something affordable by me then)

i haven't seen any advertising for any of the recent games. i've only seen two shadow adverts when that game came out, and the more recent sonic mac donald adverts.

They've been whoring Sonic Rush pretty well on TV, advertising it with every episode of Sonic X. Also caught it bumpering The 100 Funniest TV Moments on channel 4 this weekend. The DS is getting quite a bit of push and Sonic Rush is heavy hitter, most adverts are Mario Kart and/or Rush.
Shadow was heavily advertised on Sky ONE (as Heroes was before it) and even had cinema adverts and the like, full page adverts in magazines, you name it.

Yeah, Shadow used to be on in the commercial breaks on Five while I was watching Hercules, to my astonishment. Not seen any Sonic Rush though. I don't think I watch enough of the right TV - I imagine fans of Due South and McCloud are not quite the target market, generally speaking smile DW
