Ironforge had found himself wandering a bit farther then his typical patrol took him - but once in a while he thought it was a good idea to see what was happening beyond the boarders of the herd he called home. The herd that was slowly shrinking, with no new members and some of the others dispersing Ironforge wasn't entirely sure how much longer he would had a herd to protect at all.
None the less while there were still a few members he would continue to do his duty - along with his side job of training more Knights. Kale had graduated and was often off on his own journeys now but his son Zhevra still remained and he was expecting the arrival of Mercy any day. Two students at once would be quite a handful to take care of and so perhaps he ought to take these last few quiet days of patrol for all that they were worth.
It was a pleasant day at least, not quite as hot as it would be later in the season and the white stallion was rather enjoying his walk amid the trees.

Her family was growing and though some of them stayed with the herd, she didn't begrudge those foals she looked after who left to have their own adventures when they'd grown. Still she feared some for them. Her great grand children, two boys so very different and yet some how not had decided to go their own ways after they'd grown up. It wasn't much surprise since even she as a young filly had wandered off. Of course her last great adventure had brought her to what was now her home.
Like any home it had it's dangers and that was why she walked the boundaries of her herd's small lands every day to ensure no tracks of ill intent were found. Still it didn't mean that a threat couldn't come in from above. As she walked, her familiar eyed the ground for tracks as she scoured the skies. Her long dragging tail helped to cover her tracks in the dirt behind her as she walked.

Ironforge had strayed perhaps a bit further then he originally intended but it was such a nice day that the stallion simply found himself not wishing to return to the herd just yet. Sometimes it was nice to just relax by yourself and after years of seclusion Ironforge still sometimes found the hustle and bustle of herd life just a little bit overwhelming even if he would never leave it behind again.
It wasn't until he smelled a bear that Ironforge was brought out of his inner musings. Not all bears were dangerous - but some where and the ones he had met in the Mountain's had taught him to be respectful and cautious of them at the very least. Angling his path to investigate - and make sure it wasn't a bear of the ill tempered quality so close to his home he came out of the brush not to far ahead of the mare. Somewhat surprised to have burst in on another Soquili while he had been expecting a bear...which he saw was present as well, Ironforge quickly attempted to compose himself and managed to get out a somewhat respectable greeting. "Hello Milady, sorry to burst in on you like that"

She stopped short as the stallion appeared. She wasn't a very big mare, in fact she was quite small for most mares of her kind. Offering a friendly smile, she looked him over, waiting, watching him to see just what kind of intent he held. It wasn't that she trusted him right away that she gave such a friendly look but more that you got further catching bees with honey than salt. "No harm done." She said with a gentle, tone. She had a sweet voice, the kind that clearly warmed her face as she spoke yet held a motherly quality to it.
Magic on the other hand didn't seem like she was willing to play friends just yet. Stubbornly the black bare sat between the strange stallion and her mistress, holding him in her gaze much like a chicken would a fox.

The mares sweet voice and kind greeting did much to alleviate Ironforge's initial suspicions - sure no ill tempered bear would be found escorting a mare who seemed so initially sweet. Although given the way said bear was eyeing him at the moment Ironforge thought perhaps he might be wrong. Perhaps it was just a loyal companion - in any case that was the way Ironforge decided to interpret the creatures intent gaze and turned his attention instead to the mare.
She was a small and dainty sort of creature with flowers in her mane and tail, she reminded him somewhat of the royals he had once served under and Ironforge had to remind himself not to let his past memories color his interaction here. Just because she had flowers in her hair did not mean she was a snide creature more intent on saving her own skin then the well being of others. On the contrary she seemed quite kind on first impression and that motherly air about her was a hard quality to fake.
"I'm afraid I caught wind of your companion here and thought to investigate less it be one of the more dangerous types. I can see I was quite wrong however - he does not seem like he would be a danger to my herd" He explained with a small glance at the bear which still sat between them. Of course it was then that he realized that he had yet to introduce himself and sought to rectify the social blunder quickly. "Apologies, I am Ironforge, currently beta of the Moonglade herd"

Magic snorted disliking being called a male. She was already in a mood of her own this day. And button pushing how ever unintentional it was, wasn't helping her mood. Standing, she circled round the male and gave yet another snort retuning to Shoshana's side. "She... isn't known to be nasty.. but she is always known to be fiercely protective... I don't like being talked about as though I'm not present." Her eyes turned to the mare and she shook her head at the look cast to her. "Forgive me my lady... I didn't mean to... disturb you." Once more she sat herself down between the stallion and the mare in a protective, leering sort of way.
Shoshana shook he head, returning her attention to the stallion. "You'll have to forgive Magic.. Named after a rose.. I'm afraid she has some thorns today." She said with a chuckle. "It's a pleasure meeting you, I'm Shoshana, Leader of the Primrose and hope herd." She gave a smile, bowing her head ever so lightly in greeting. His rank meant little to her where good manners were concerned.

At the bear's remarks Ironforge had the grace to duck his head in apology "My apologies Magic, I'm afraid I don't know much about bears - I have only met a few and those were not nearly so pleasant nor noble as yourself" While his remarks could well be taken as a bit of sucking up Ironforge meant them, there was a nobility in protecting things that you care about - a merit that was sadly becoming less and less prominent in the world as time went on. More and more often creatures were becoming a bit more obsessed with themselves and bit less with everyone around them.
Hoping that the bear would take his words in good faith Ironforge returned his attentions to the mare. She was the leader of a herd, how fortunate that he had wandered this way then! "The Primrose and Hope herd? I don't believe I have heard of it, is it a large herd?" Ironforge was keenly curious about those who lived nearby - it was always good to know your neighbors.

Magic arched a brow as best as she could, apparently deciding on if he was mocking her or not. Nodding her decision she took his words as nothing more than an apology. "Don't trouble yourself over it.. I suppose a bear lurking around could very well be more than just some one's companion."
Magic nodded her head, shrugging Magic's tone off. "Mhmm. We're only a small herd though. Consisting mainly of myself, my family and a few friends and their children." She gave a small look around. "You caught me as I was making my rounds on the outskirts of our territory."

Ironforge gave Magic a warm look when the bear accepted his apology with good grace, it seemed rude to continue on with the discussion about the ill temper of some of her brethren and so he let it go for the moment. In any case he was far more interested in the mare's herd, how fortunate that he had decided to wander this way today - else he may not have known about these neighbors for quite some time.
"I have wandered a bit farther then I normally do, the territory of the herd I protect ends a little ways back but I like to get a feel for whats outside our boarders once in a while - how fortunate that I managed to meet you today." Ironforge shared with the mare, a nice family herd was a good neighbor to have, certainly he could think of and had had far far worse in the past. "The Moonglade herd is quite small as well" And getting smaller if he was being honest with himself - many of the younger members seemed to be leaving to go their own way and the older members well...they were sadly doing what older Soquili eventually always did.
"Have you had any troubles living in the area?" He asked with interest, perhaps the mare could share some insight about what lurked about in are'as he had yet to travel himself.

Magic sprawled out in the sun finally deeming him trustworthy enough for now. She would just listen and make herself comfortable for the time being. Hopefully he wouldn't prove himself less than honorable.
Shoshana nodded in agreement. It was always good to know who else lived around the area especially when her family and friends, the soquili who depended upon her leadership most were at stake. At his question of troubles, she thought on some things the smile fading from her face. "It is not without it's troubles." She admitted. She remembered the kalona who'd attacked her daughter, tearing a large chunk from her shoulder and nearly making off with her that day. "There have been kalona.. not all of good intent either.." She meant it. She wasn't trying to frighten anyone more so.. warn him that there had been some seen in the past. She decided it best not to mention Evi or Illidan just yet, even if they were her friends and didn't harm her.. the same could not be said of another herd.. at least not for Evi.
"There are other herds though.. I met the leader of one just the other day, He found me in the common clearing not far from here as I was looking for a friend of mine from yet another neighboring herd. His herd seemed rather nice.. at least if they're run by one such as himself I could see how they could be a rather decent herd. However..." She trailed off looking around, her ears flicking as her voice lowered to barely a whisper. "I learned some disturbing news from my granddaughter not too long ago..." She eyed Magic a moment before continuing. "My granddaughter, now grown, mentioned having a run in of sorts on the opposite side of our territory with a young catwalker."
She paused, letting this sink in a moment before continuing. "I've never seen one stalking around.. but if one so young had shown up once.. it's likely it's parents or very well it it's self might still be around now..."

Ironforge listened intently as the mare spoke, for the most part it seemed as though life here was not to terrible - or at the very least there were no warring Queens sending their subjects to death. Every place had its dangers - that he well knew but the lack of tyrannical leaders made this one salvageable..even pleasant in the grey stallions eyes.
"Kalona..." He snorted with dislike "I have yet to meet one of good intent to be truthful, part Kalona perhaps are redeemable but the full blooded ones simply can't be trusted" He told the mare "And skinwalkers...well they are predators..and need to be gotten rid of when they show up. I will certainly keep my eyes open for more of these beasts....but in the meantime Milady, I spend a good deal of time training others in the art of Knighthood and certainly if aid is required my students and I are available" He offered, she seemed ot be doing fine on her own but Ironforge's code demanded that he let her know of his ability to help if it were needed and really what kind of a stallion would anyone be if they didn't even without a code?
