It was a clear day and the sun was bright. The wind whipped the tall grasses around Tidus' feet as he looked over the ledge on which he stood, staring down at the beach below and the waves that rolled in. It was a far cry from home, but as far as he was concerned, anywhere he roamed was home for now. Of course, his heart did not yet know the true meaning of home. It wouldn't until the day he found 'the one.' He didn't know that however. He was blissfully ignorant of such things. He was a vibrant young adult now, energetic and optimistic, if not a bit dense. He'd been gone from home for a long time. Even though he'd long since found his name, Tidus Konani was enjoying seeing 'the world' before he pull to return home could win him over. However he felt all the wiser for his travels. Not once did the thought of not returning to the swamps cross his mind, however. Of course, he had no reason to not want to go home. It's where his family was. Well, his mom and dad. He didn't know if his siblings had already returned home or not. Or if they ever would. He'd seen many things that could easily have convinced him to leave the swamps forever, but it just wasn't ever enough for him. Perhaps he was still looking for something, but what?

When she'd first started her journey, Siris had been painfully homesick, eager from the very first day to find her name and go home, but she'd since learned to appreciate the outside world. It might be considerably different - not to mention considerably less muddy - but that wasn't a bad thing. Eventually, she'd come to enjoy exploring, and rather than being eager to return home, had turned eager to see what the next day would bring, anticipating the wonderful things she might find.
The sea, however, turned out to be beyond anything she could have imagined. It was beautiful and exciting, and she could have spent days and days at its edge. Maybe she would! After all, she was hardly on a schedule. She could go anywhere she liked, stay anywhere she liked...stay forever, even. It was such a strange thought, frightening and thrilling at the same time. To live her life this way...
No, it was too early to think about choices like that. Letting the ocean wind carry away serious thoughts, she bounded out into the waves to chase the foam.

While looking out at the horizon, something a little closer caught his eye - a lioness, bounding out into the waves. Now, being someone who knew no stranger and fancied himself as well-versed with the ladies, Tidus saw no problem with this. Really he was quite poor with the ladies, but don't tell him that! He found the easiest way down the grassy ledge to the beach below and trotted along the edge where the waves just barely lapped at his paws.
"Hey there!" came a voice that was bright, friendly, and completely mindless of possibly scaring her

Siris, off in her own little world and oblivious to anything but her playful pursuit of the waves, was definitely not prepared for the 'Hey there!' that came suddenly from behind her. She'd thought she was all alone! While not embarrassed to be seen acting in a 'childish' way, she was quite startled, and skidded to a stop knee-deep in the water.
The young lioness whipped around to face the speaker, then took a moment to compose herself, trying to look like she hadn't just jumped out of her skin. "Oh, hello. I didn't, uh, see you there. Before."
At least he seemed friendly.

Tidus waded out into the water. He couldn't very well blame anyone, regardless of age, for playing in it. The ocean was rather rejuvenating, he felt. But one time he'd got his leg pinched by crab, and had been more careful ever since.
"Sorry. It just looked like you were having fun. I thought I'd come down and join you. The name is Tytu- er, Tidus Konani!"
This was his first time using his new name, he realized. Tidus tilted his head a little, trying to give his best impression of being suave and cool. It was rather hilarious with that goofy smile on his face.
"What's yours? You from around here?"

"It's alright, you just surprised me," she responded, recovering from her fleeting fright with a bright smile. "I'm Siris! I'm actually not-"
"...wait." The way he'd introduced himself finally clicked, causing her to tip her head and look at him a little harder. "Before, you almost said something else. Why?" It was a slip-up she'd heard other lions make before, but surely it was just a coincidence, this far from home.

It wasn't like his name was all that different. He thought his slip up could be explained as a stutter - Tytus to Tidus Konani...meh. It wasn't like he was ashamed to say where he came from.
"Uh, well you see, I'm kinda out on this quest. ...To find my true name. I guess I have but I just haven't gone back home yet.... To the swamps.." He laughed a little, as if it were something rather humorous.
"Anyway, hello there, Not-Siris! Pleased to meet you!"

It wasn't a coincidence, not a coincidence at all! Siris' resulting expression from his answer was a mix of disbelieving and delighted. "Really? You're really from the swamps?" She bounced on her forepaws, her tail waggling with excitement. "Me too! I can't believe someone else is all the way out here!"
He didn't really look familiar, though...but it was a big pride and she certainly didn't know everyone. "Oh, I didn't mean my name isn't Siris, I just- I was just about to say that I'm not from here."

"Oh! ..Huh?" Was Tidus' ever so clever reply. It took him a minute to catch up, but when he did, his face lit up and he jumped around a bit.
"Woah! Really!? Ha! That's amazing! What're the odds? But you know...I don't think I remember you..."
Could she really be that much younger than him? Maybe he had been gone longer than he thought...
"So, Siris....still searching?" With that question, Tidus looked to the sky, as if it held all the answers.

"I don't remember you, either." Brow furrowed, Siris looked at him a little closer, as thought she might recognize him if she tried harder - which was ridiculous, because he was awfully distinctive, and she was sure she'd remember such striking colors and markings. But again, she hadn't known everyone, so there was always the possibility that that was the issue.
"I'm one of Queen Khara's daughters." Maybe that would ring a bell with him? She wasn't particularly distinctive, but her mother certainly was.
When he looked up, she followed his gaze. "Yeah, I am."

"Hmn, afraid I Don't recall the queen having any little mini-hers. So like...you're a noble then, eh? Woah~"
Impressed though he might of been, it didn't change the way Tidus acted.
"More time must have passed than I thought. Especially if her brood has grown," Tidus looked Siris over once more. Woah was right. Though he didn't feel much older than she could have possibly been... But what was age and rank if they were still out searching for them self, or enjoying what life outside had to offer?
"Well, trust me, whatever you're looking for - it's out there. The important thing is to enjoy yourself on that journey. I think it really does shape who we become. Not the name, but what we do while we're out searching for it." He then laughed a bit. "Sounds kind of corny, huh?"

"Scion, technically. We're not nobles until one of us is Queen or King...if one of us gets there," she amended with a shrug. Siris really didn't care; she wasn't the ambitious type, and even if she had been, her mother was still quite young. No one would be inheriting anything for a long time. "You've been gone awhile, then. If you've got your name, what are you still doing out here?"
"Yeah, it is a little corny," Siris agreed, chuckling. "It doesn't help that everybody says it, either, or something like it."

"Ah. Yeah, I never really got that stuff. Not that I was ever too worried about learning it in the first place," he said in regards to rank. "Well, I haven't really been too worried about when I go back. I guess I just felt like taking my time to enjoy things before heading back and starting some sort of monotonous life. I wanna enjoy my youth wile I still have it, you know?" And after being out in the world, going home really did seem kind of boring. He wasn't sure it was something he was ready for. At least, not until he was really ready to settle down...or something like that. "Yeah, I used to think it was pretty corny too, but you know what? Over time, I've found it to be true." He had been the type to always think that things adults had to say was corny or eye-roll worthy, though. He'd been quite the rebellious youth - hyper and wild. He'd gotten in to quite a lot of trouble. Now he seemed to at least be able to take care of himself.

"Oh, I know what you mean. I was in kind of a hurry to start with, but not anymore. I like it out here. It's not home, but it's...it's exciting." She pawed at the water and looked out at the horizon The sea really just went on forever, didn't it? "I don't think home's monotonous, though. It's just...home."
