High above casting its soft blue hued glow across the world of night, few animals moved fewer still wandered, a pale iridescent pink pelt caught reflections of moonlight as the Acturus filly made her way to the river. She had left her families side for only a moment to practice. Her blonde mane flowing gracefully somehow managing to keep itself untangled from the brush. She was unafraid of the night, in fact she welcomed it and all that came with it, the moon and its night would protect her always. She looked fondly at the sky.
The trees cleared and Sadira found herself cantering toward the river and drinking the cool clear water, she felt the water trickle down her throat, such a good feeling before singing and after. A soft smile graced her muzzle as she pulled away from the water; she glanced to see if anyone was around seeing no one took a deep breath raising her muzzle toward the sky and began to sing.
A beautifully enchanting sound was created as her voice echoed to the sky, pure and serene; she sung one of her brothers writings, he had asked her to. The moonlight gave her an enchanting appearance as the strange piece of metal given to her by her father had grown too with her, it reflected the light making it seem as though she sparkled. Her brother was going to be mother’s priest of the moon, and he had asked her to be his voice. It was the only talent she had amongst the herd; her voice was the most beautiful. They all seemed to say so... And she wanted only to help her brother and mother with their work.
Her voice continued to rise and fall with the words as she sung into the night closing her eyes and singing more passionately.

The quiet of the open field. The sound of the birds. Of the animals scurrying. Of the leaves rustling with the wind. Though a social creature, Hallbjorn liked the quiet open of the meadows and fields sometimes. To think. To plan. And to escape the herd. It wasn't that he disliked where he had followed his father to. That wasn't it at all. It was just...Well, he wasn't sure what it was just. Being around all those colors made his eyes hurt, yes. But it felt like something more. A need to be by oneself for spiritual reasons. What it was, he couldn't say. It was like some divine power wanted him alone so they could give him a sign or a task. Or a gift.
Yet every time he stole away from his family, nothing happened. He convinced himself it was just a test of loyalty. Whoever it was touching his mind would show themselves in due time. He just had to be patient. Patient was what he could, and would, do. He dealt with all these impurities on a daily basis. He could deal with this.
Stretching his still developing wings, the pure white colt continued on this unfamiliar path. Though being patient, Hallbjorn didn't see the harm in going different ways on his walks. For all he knew, it might be another direction the being was calling to him from. Like they were stuck there.
His ears suddenly perked at a heavenly sound reached him. The top lid of one eye was raised in curiosity, his hooves sneaking towards the sound as quietly as possible. When he came across the filly uttering the string of notes, he stopped in plain view, looking her over, as she was someone completely new to him. She was pretty, he'd give her that. The ends of her legs were a disappointing contrast with her faintly pink hued coat. That was a strange accessory she wore around her neck, though. He'd never seen anything like that, either. Was she from some strange cultured herd who believed in tying their young up like that?

The approaching white colt went unnoticed for now, as she continued to sing, not much would break her concentration, she sung for some time until the last note escaped her lisps hanging in the air, gracefully she ended the note listening for the echo throughout the trees, Opening her clear blue eyes. She took a breath before moving toward the water, only to freeze like a deer upon noticing the white colt.
“Oh, I didn’t realize you were there,” she shifted “Are you from the moonlight herd?” she asked tilting her head, but then again both the dreamers glass herd and the moonlight were on very good terms with each other, maybe he was from the other one. She focused on the handsome white colt, he didn’t have much of a pattern but she found he was very handsome regardless, different from most of her family, and herd mates, everyone was so brightly colored.
“My name is Sadira,” she said in her usual angelic tone. “I hope you didn’t mind my singing I didn’t realize there was someone else around...” she added softly moving toward the water again her golden hooves striking the rocks as she reached the bank once more. “I hope you pardon, me.” Mother had always said it paid to be polite “Water helps my voice after I sing.” She spoke quietly as she drank.

Hall stood his ground, his wings lifted slightly off their perch on his back. He watched silently as she moved to the water, his natural curiosity keeping him rooted to the spot. Only someone with such a beautiful voice and pale coat that almost glowed could capture his attention so. Angelic and serene. Like someone touched by the Gods.
It almost took the attention away from the weird contraption on her back.
The white colt stepped forward, clearing his throat as he did so.
"No. But I don't come too far away." He kept some distance between them, making sure not to overstep his boundaries just yet. He kept his own voice calm, not angelic like hers, but not rough either. Here he finally gave a small smile. "Not at all, sweet angel. It was lovely to hear. I am Hallbjorn. Or Hall, if you would prefer. From the Dreamer's Glass." The colt inclined his head in a little bow, knowing manners went a long way in all situations.

The pale filly's ears flicked in the direction of Hall in order to hear him better the way he talked was strange, the compliment made her face flush she kept her head down drinking to conceal it, she wasn’t an angel, she was just Sadira, but she didn’t mind being called Angel, it was pretty. Where he came from made sense she hadn't seen him in her own herd, Denny didn't talk about the other herd much either. She'd begun to wonder if she’d ever meet anyone from the other herd. Finishing her head rose to face the colt with an innocent smile.
“What brings you out all the way over here by yourself?” she asked curiosity evident before noticing the rather distracted look he had about the metal on her back. “This my father left it for me, it grows with me like the thing he had on his back, Denny and my sister both have them too!” he said flicking her tail she smiled proudly.
“Do you have any sibling?” she asked rather suddenly feeling comfortable he wasn’t going to leave if she began asking things “What’s the other herd like? Is it big like this one too?” she was suddenly a bundle of questions, she paused and recoiled her voice became softer "Oh I'm sorry, you probably didn't want to be bombarded with questions."
She paused and explained "Mama is always busy, she's a herd diviner, one of those who upholds all the traditions, I'd ask her normally but she's been busy as of late"

Hall flicked his tail casually, hearing and storing away all the questions she had asked. Energetic little filly, this one. Not quite up to his recently learned tastes in others, but he would play this by ear.
The colt walked closer, circling around her to the other side by the water. He didn't dip his head to drink, but stepped out until his front hooves were completely submerged. His dark eyes he kept ahead of him, not watching her, but with an ear flicked back to show he was paying attention nonetheless.
What brought him out this way? A natural curiosity shared by most his age about what lay beyond his home boundaries. Ever since he had grown old enough, he had traveled, not too far, from his family to see what else was out there. He had met some interesting individuals on these quests, but none like that one white mare he had seen only once before.
Until this one. She had the same beauty as the other. The same kind of innocence. But there was something more pure looking and magical about the pink mare. It might have been the fact she was a pale pink. Such a feminine color.
One eye turned back towards her without moving his head. "Just seeing the sights," was all he said in his calm manner, like he was at home anywhere and everywhere. He was about to ponder over the contraption on her back once more, when she started off on such a torrent of questions, he turned his head around to her with evident surprise in his eyes. "Two sisters. I don't think I have anymore. As of yet. My family doesn't seem big on monogamy." Hall stepped out of the water, giving his tail a little shake at the clear liquid now behind him. "It's big. I'm sure you have some of my family over here. The herd leader's children have mingled at least three times." He shook his head at her, giving her a small smile to show it didn't bother him.

Sadira was glad he was at least listening to her barrage of questions though she found herself rather embarrassed for asking them suddenly.
"My family isn't that big, I only have Mama and my three brothers and two sisters, well one sister... went with my papa." Sadira was still quite confused on how big her family really was it was easier for her just to keep track of the immediate family as a young filly, she was sure her momma would explain the rest of them to her.
The pale little filly found herself nodding, "This place is different, it always feels so mysterious and enchanting" This place was her home, and she loved it here with her family though one word puzzled the young filly "What's Monogamy?" Sadira asked tilting her head innocently, as she had to play with the word a few times in her mouth before it seemed to come out right.
She'd never heard the term before, it was very strange indeed, he shook his head as though it didn't bother him, should it bother him? Sadira had no Idea, maybe she should ask her mother about it when she got back.

"Be glad in that," the colt responded, walking past her with his head up to take in the sights around him. His black eyes traveled anywhere but at her, not out of avoidance but just plain interest in the world around him. "It gets unnecessarily difficult in keeping up with one's relatives." He made a u-turn, facing her once more. His expression, though not smiling, was still no less friendly than it was with a smile. "I don't recall your coloring, but that doesn't mean you're not some distant relative. One of many. The spots, the streaks, and the stockings could be." For him, his lack of coloring meant he could fit into any family. So long as there was some trace of white and black. A useful trait, but one he wasn't sure of the use for. Hall just knew he never felt the need to hide his genes or pretend to be the relative of other Stars. What would it achieve?
His head tilted at the strangeness of one question. She was old enough to know such terms, wasn't she? He, at least, had been familiar with it for a while, wondering at a young age why some of the mates of his family left or became distant. Weren't mates supposed to stick together? Apparently not.
"The taking of a single mate. Many of my family do not. Whether they are not satisfied with a single or the right one hasn't come around, I'm not sure. Kinda makes one feel like a mistake, nonetheless."

Sadira gave a slow nod, she wondered how her elder half brother did it, he was part of that much larger family yet he made sure to know everyone if he could. Sadira shook her head "Um I don't think we are related my mother is Azha and my father Mercury, though I have a half brother related to the mare Arei his name is Tenar." she did her best to explain, she frowned it was quite hard to remember all these things about Family.
With her face turning bright red she looked away "Um right, I uh, my mother said she'd tell that to me when I was older." that and some other things she wouldn't fully explain about until she was of age.
Sadira listened, her mom and dad weren't mated "My mother and father aren't mated but my mommy loves me just as much and I have my brother with me too most of the time." he smiled happily she was glad deneb was never far behind her, made her feel safe. She loved to sing for him, and her mother they both said she had a talent and it made her proud. Though she did miss her father and her sister terribly sometimes.
"You're parent's aren't mated either are they?" she paused "But you know I bet they would never think of you as a mistake! They love you I bet both of them." she worried about hall thinking his parents didn't love him he was really nice.

Hall thought about this for a moment. Arei's name sounded familiar. Tenar did not. All he knew about the situations of the two herds was they mingled quite a bit. Whether Arei was a descendant of this herd's leader or the leader herself, he had no idea. He never paid that much attention to the adult's talk. It concerned him little who he was related to. At least right now it held little concern to him.
"I am not related to Arei," was his answer, folding his wings up tight against his body. It was said indifferently, almost like he was telling someone they had gotten a wrong answer on a quiz. This conversation was a weird one and made him think too deeply into his life. No one had asked him such questions. No one at home seemed to care about such questions or the topic. This one, however, seemed intrigued to keep talking about it. It bothered him just a little. He didn't want to think about it so much.
In an attempt to derail the conversation, Hall walked back into the water, going almost to his belly in the cool water. "A lovely spot to sing. Such poetry can be made by the water."

"Oh that's good then, I think" Sadira liked her family but she also wanted to meet others outside her family too. He really did look like he belonged didn't he? Sadira chuckled at the thought. Sadira looked down a bit a bit embarrassed she was being to much again. big brother told her too from time to time to calm down. Usually while they were exploring she'd ask him all sorts of questions about things. She loved learning though it didn't really matter what. "S..sorry if I made you uncomfortable," she said flushed a bit "I've been told I'm not good at telling other star's boundaries."
She was glad though when the conversation switched to singing. She loved singing a lot. her mood changed quickly despite her age she was still very much a child. She beamed happily "My brother wrote it." She flicked her tail "My brother's the only nova in the entire herd!" she said proudly. Then her train of thought changed again; she hadn't really thought of the location of where she was singing, all the headlands kinda looked mystical like this area. So it just seemed like a normal place to sing because the water was where her brother was.
"I guess, I never thought about it, my brother is usually the one who writes the songs, I just sing them, they're very pretty."

Hall walked around in the water for a few moments, moving back towards the shore so the water lapped around his knees instead of his belly .He flicked his tail, sending droplets to splash against the side of his body. A Nova, huh? His family may have some. He'd never seen any. To his knowledge, they didn't come up to the surface very much and why would they? Moving around with that tail must be exhausting. Not much more elegant than a seal.
"You seem to care much for family. I've not had much to do with it aside from being raised." He watched silently and without expression as her demeanor changed so quickly. She still behaved so young for someone already half grown. Or was he just mature for his age? It was hard for him to say. He was still very inexperienced with the world, being only half grown himself. But he observed and tried to pay attention to the adults around him. Maybe he picked up on their mannerisms.
"I assume your herd stays very close to water to have a Nova in it," the pale colt responded. Offering a small smile, he added, "You must give him my compliments on the writing. Just as I give my compliments to the singer. A beautiful voice is necessary for such equally beautiful lyrics."
