The time had come...
User Image

For a while now they had been patiently waiting for the right moment. Biding their time for when would be most appropriate for them to break out of their shells and make their entrances into the world. The thirteen had been under the watchful eye of many humans and firelizards as they had hardened by the hearth of the lower caverns. Huddled together they were content to wait and grow. The best events were always those most anticipated.

It was late in the evening when they finally decided that the time was right, the eggs began to shift a wriggle, calling the eyes of those around them. Firelizards draped around sent out the call to those eager to impress the newest members of the Weyr. They would not wait forever, the humans needed to hurry now or it would be too late.

A platter of meat was brought out and placed on a table near the rocking clutch for the hopefuls to feed and entice the tiny hatchlings to them when they broke out and demanded food from their audience.

((The hatching is starting, so get your characters down to the lower caverns and positioned so we can get this show on the road.))

The green had been eagerly awaiting this moment. In fact she'd been listening intently for it for days now. Tribleth jumped to her feet with a loud croon. Mine! Mine! The eggs are Hatching!! Her bugles made sure her call was not ignored. She was determined that Her's would have a flit. To ensure that Her's Had to get to the Cavern.

Lorend was trying to cool herself down after the hot day. More so, she'd been contemplating a nap. That was absolutely ruined as her green started making enough noise to rouse the Weyr. She rolled over and up onto her elbow. "Well there goes the weyr. If anyone had any doubt to about what was happening they don't know. That means there will be more people there trying to impress a baby."

She arched her brow, but got up as the dragon continued to dance in her wallow. Lorend was game for trying for a firelizard. Grabbing a clean shirt and pulling it on, she went to meet her dragon. It didn't take long for Tribleth to set her down outside the Cavern entrance. Lorend gave a laugh and wave as she headed inside.

It was quite obvious where the action was going on. People and flits had gathered around the eggs. Lorend strolled up and helped herself to a handful of meat. Unbashed she elbowed her way toward the front. When she had a good view of the rocking eggs she stopped. Which would hatch first?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
M'bad was helping himself to food when a commontion caught his attention. What was going on? He wandered closer before he heard the local firelizards humming. Oh. That clutch was finally hatching. He wandered a bit closer and peered at those waiting on the eggs.
Mine, an arrogant voice filled M'bad's head. You will attempt to Impress one of them. Rievegeth would book no argument from his rider.
He arched his brow as the blue made his wishes known. You really want one of them hovering around? The cold silence meant Rievegeth didn't think that needed a reply. M'bad sighed with a shake of his head. Well whatever. He grabbed a couple pieces of meat and waited for the eggs like everyone else.
It was by luck only, something that Tadej had in spades, that the man was nearby when the hatching started. He might have missed it were it not for the sudden interest shown by Einion, the bronze firelizard that was flying in lazy circles around his head. The two of them were on a delivery, bringing some pieces of his father's handcrafted jewelry, and even a piece that Tadej himself had been in charge of making. They had just barely gotten it delivered, and the payment in hand, when Einion landed on his shoulder and started to shift in a manner that seemed impatient, "What is it my little bronze? In a rush?" He asked in a curious manner, "Ahh, you are probably hungry how about we... Einion? Hey! Where are you..." He trailed off when he watched the bronze flit off without him.
Turning to his customer he gave him a polite bow, "Thank you for your purchase, we look forward to seeing you in our shop again." He said before turning on his heel and raced off after Einion, wondering what had gotten into him. He hadn't heard anything about any golds that were getting ready to fly, as such he wasn't really sure what it was that had captured the attention of his bronze. It wasn't long though before he saw what it was, eggs, "Ahh, so this is what brought us here." He said, when the bronze returned to him and came to perch on his head, humming in delight, eyes wide and glittering with delight. There was nothing like a hatching to bring people, and firelizards, together he thought to himself. It was a shame that Amelia couldn't be here to see this, she was there after all when he got his bronze and she ended up with Einion's brother, "I am guessing that you want to stay and watch? Or..." Should he try for another? He wondered what his father would think if he came home with another of those 'flitting beasts' as he called them.
He glanced up toward Einion as he felt the little bronze kneading at his head and then chuckled, "Alright, we can try." No reason not to, right? He was making more of his own money as he got better and better at his craft, he could afford to feed another little mouth were he so lucky as to impress one of them. Surely his father couldn't complain, at least not too much, if he took responsibility for the one he brought home unlike when he was younger and brought home Einion.
T'nus and Navi were playing together in the Bowl, when, polite as ever, his bronze giant informed him:
The thing you wanted to know of is happening now.
T'nus held the toy which he was teasing Navi with up high as he tried to remember what Azimuth was talking about. The thing..? T'nus began to ask, while he attempted to hold Navi back, who was climbing all over his back to try and get it. But he happened to glance up at the toy, which was a little blue wooden dragon from a set he made for Navi, and it sparked his memory.
"Ah, that thing!" he said.
Navi was pulling on his arm and complaining, so he gave him the toy and lifted him up.
"You wanna go see a real dragon, Navi?" he asked him.
"Like Azzie?"
T'nus laughed. "Not quite. Like Azzie, but Navi-sized. How does that sound?"
T'nus turned to his dragon. Coming 'Azzie'?
Meanwhile, Lavi was in her weyr, mending some clothes when Xenith gave her the call.
Azimuth says that it is time.
Ah! Alright, I'm coming. Lavi said in a fluster, putting her work down.
Why the sudden desire for the little cousins? Xenith asked her. You were never interest in such things before, my Lavi.
Lavi blushed. In fact, she had always secretly wanted a little flitt of her own, but she was far too timid to ever go to a clutch. She pulled herself onto Xenith's back and answered bravely, No, but I thought it was about time. They say young children love them.
When she got to the hatching, Lavi made her through the crowd and went to sit down to the side. T'nus met her there and deposited a Navi into her lap, who by now was bouncing up and down with excitement. He grabbed a bowl of meat for the three of them and then he turned towards the eggs to watch, as everyone else.
(OOC: Since Tacelon hasn't been approved yet, and I want him to have a Search RP, should I RP as well? If so, should I RP him getting an flit here, them pretend he had it all along, before he came to the weyr? Or should I RP him getting if here, not having one when he was Searched, and just claim that between now and the next time he' RPed in the weyr, enough time has passed for him to train the flit?)
((You can play him here and then have in his history he got the firelizard prior to coming to the Weyr if you'd prefer. You just wouldn't be able to have him interact with other characters as that would cause confusion if he knew someone from an event he wasn't meant to be at. However if you would rather not play him here I can write his firelizard impressing to a random faceless character and then send you the information in a PM. So it's entirely your choice.))
(OOC: He's not likely to interact with people much anyway, so I'll RP him here. More RP is always good. Thanks.)
Tacelon had just finished his chores for the day and stopped in the kitchen for a bite to eat. It was late for a full meal, so he was just collecting a couple meatrolls and a cup of klah from one of the kitchen workers when the firelizards in the cavern started raising a fuss. Almost right away all the humans in the cavern started raising a fuss too, and in moments a platter of meat was being rushed to the area where all the activity seemed to be centered. Curious, Tacelon wandered in that direction too, and by scooting around to the side and ducking between some taller people, he managed to catch a glimpse of what everyone was looking at. Ah, a clutch of small eggs. Firelizard eggs, judging by the humming an excited snatches of conversation. He didn't bother to get too close himself, since he didn't think any flit would find him remotely interesting. But he did think watching the hatching would be nice, since he'd never seen one before. So he settled in to watch for the shells to crack, taking a bite of his meatroll while he waited.
Now that their audience had gathered the eggs finally began to work at hatching with real determination. The one getting furthest was a green egg with darker stripes spreading up from it's base. The near circular egg's methodical efforts were gaining it a good lead on the others as cracks formed all over it's shell. Beside the green egg sat a larger, blue, egg. As if it noticed it's siblings lead the egg paused for a moment before slamming itself into the green egg. A solid crack formed down it's side and it's inhabitant was able to scurry out, claiming first place over it's clutchmate.
The Deceitful Bronze
The bronze stepped away from his egg and look around at the people gathered around him. This was what he had to choose from? Well, it would do he supposed. Shaking himself off the bronze was about to leave the clutch behind in search of a suitable companion when something caught his eye. Pausing the bronze looked behind him at the egg that not long ago his own had been resting against. The orange and red striped egg was about the same as his own had been and the hatchling found this most offensive. Walking over to the egg he rose up on his back legs and gave the egg an all mighty push, causing it to roll away from the rest of the clutch and fall out of the small tough-like structure the eggs had been placed in. Giving a dismissive sniff the bronze turned his back on the abandoned egg that had now rolled underneath the trough and was out of sight.
The Calm Brown
While the bronze had been doing away with his competition the green egg had gone back to steady working away. The firelizard inside apparently unphased by it's brother's sly ways of getting free. The firelizard pushed at the side of it's egg until it gradually just gave away under the hatchlings continous working. Now with it's path clear a brown hatchling simply walked out of the egg, shaking himself off he looked up at those surrounding him. Well, hello, aren't you all an interesting bunch. Perhaps one of you has something for him to eat, yes?
Hekate had been down in the lower caverns on chores when the commotion started as the firelizard eggs which had been under many watchful eyes suddenly began to crack. Nearly leaping out of her skin and eyes glittering the woman turned pushing her way through the small crowd to peer down at the little ones.
Ooo a bronze and a brown, lucky start to this little hatching she thought. "Hello little ones." She cooed to the two with a broad smile that was only slightly tinted with her natural wicked gleam. Hekate was simply one of those people who even on the nicest day looked as though she was up to something.
Lorend knew what was going to happen. She held herself still except her eyes which darted back and forth. The dark blue egg rushed to beat it's sibling out of the shell. She grinned at the little bronze and crooned him to him. The sight of the brown following made her happy. Two beautiful, handsome?, males hatched and ready to Impress. She kept her thoughts happy in an effort to attract one.
It made her blink as the bronze headed back to the clutch. What was he doing? She muffled a small giggle as it pushed the red and yellow egg away from the clutch. What was he trying to do? Warn the occupant away from whoever he wanted to choose maybe? Lorend wondered if someone needed to rescue the forlorn egg after that bronze Impressed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
M'bad stretched as far as he could to see around the taller people. Being short sucked! He could hear the sounds of cracking shells and people exclaiming over the newborn flits. The blue rider resigned himself to waiting to see the colors after they'd Impressed. Surely the hatchlings would be distracted by those in the front and none would get back to him.

Tadej looked over the pair that hatched first and couldn't help but to give a bit of a smile, "Well now, Einion. That first one looks a bit like you." He said to his bronze who instantly seemed to lean in to get a better look at the one that 'looked like him'. The bronze merely hummed in response, giving a neutral sort of response though his claws did dig into Tadej's scalp a little deeper then he meant too, "Oh? Perhaps you would prefer the brown as a friend?" He asked in a curious manner, wondering if perhaps Einion might end up a little jealous were he to impress another bronze. Taking a step closer he picked up some of the meat and waited, looking the two hatchlings over as well as the eggs that were still rocking. There were quite a few left and he had to admit that he was curious what might be in them.

"Wonder if there might be a gold." He mused to himself, a thought that seemed to rouse Einion's interest as the bronze seemed to go about studying the eggs as though if he squinted hard enough he might see what was within, "Have patience, Einion. They will hatch and greet us soon enough." He reassured the bronze who seemed almost as eager as some of the people around them to see what might hatch from the various eggs. Tadej himself felt just as excited but knew that patience was a virtue. Rushing the hatchlings would only startle them, best that he hold the meat and wait for one to take an interest it in as well as himself and the bronze who was currently playing at being his hair accessory.

When the first egg started rocking, Navi stood up in Lavi's lap. He pointed at the newly hatched 'lizards, "Look, look, look! It's a baby Azzie." he said getting excited. He watched the bronze lizard's antics with keen interest. "Ah! Mama. He pushed it! That was naughty." he said, nodding perceptively. He sat down in her lap and looked at the egg, concerned. "Is it gonna be okay?"

Lavi was bashful as ever, and T'nus wasn't sure what to say, so thus far Navi had done the talking for all of them. Of course, once Navi expressed concern, Lavi jumped to comfort him.
"He's fine. His mommy is close by too. But, um, look at the brown lizard Navi, isn't it cute?" she said quickly to distract him. But soon she was getting into it, pointing out the eggs to Navi and asking him what color they were and making exagerated 'wow' noises whenever the bronze or the brown turned their heads towards them.

Meanwhile, T'nus stood by awkwardly, absently flicking the meat around in his bowl. He looked around uncertainly at the other faces in the room. Despite living in a Weyr for many years, he had never been to a 'lizard hatching (never saw the need) and so he wasn't sure what to do with himself. Yet he'd Stood for Impression at a real hatching! What could he possible have to fear here?
Nervous, Mine? Azimuth chortled.

As Tacelon peered around someone standing in front of him, a bronze cracked it's shell. It seemed an unusually violent method of breaking free, but since he'd never seen a hatching before he couldn't be sure. Still, bronze hatching first was lucky for dragon clutches, wasn't it? Maybe it was lucky here too. Though what that luck pertained to, he had no idea. Though it seemed st least unfortunate that the bronze seemed bent on eliminating "competition" right off the bat. It seemed that one would be a handful.

And then a brown broke free with far less fuss, simply pushing open the shell and walking out. A much more calm flit, this brown. Amazing how the personalities of these little ones seemed evident already. Either way, there was a bronze and a brown free. Whoever managed to Impress these ones would be lucky.

The Calm Brown
While his bronze brother was content to flaunt his apparent superiority and draw everyone's attention, the Calm Brown had other plans. He was hungry and there really was no need for him to delay getting rid of that hunger just for a few adoring glances. He left the security of his clutch to wander toward the humans that had food for him. He paused and looked up at those around him one by one before moving on. No. Not that one. No. No. Not even close. Tsk, this was taking far too long, none of these people appealed to him. Their brains were all far too jumbled about. He needed one who could focus on something. Maybe they were further back. People shifted as the brown scampered between their feet to work to the back of the group. There! Finally. Calm gave a pleased little chirrup as he quickened his pace to come to a stop beside M'bad. He looked up at the rider, could he have something to eat please? He was very hungry.

User Image
On the other side of the clutch a smaller egg was beginning to make progress in short sharp spurts. The egg was shake and jump wildly before suddenly go still as it's occupant rested for a moment before starting up it's struggle once more. It would be free, no longer confined to this tiny space. A piece of egg chipped away from the top of the egg and a delighted shriek could be heard from within. The small firelizard slammed into the side of the egg causing more chips to fall away until only a few shards remained. Barely keeping the egg together. Once again it went still, the moments passed before the hatchling exploded out of it's shell.

The Rebellious Green
The green smashed her way out of the damaged portion of her egg, leaving a neat hole as proof of her escape. Landing on her feet she stumbled ever so slightly as her legs became used to the new task of supporting her weight. The petite green looked back at her defeated prison and then stretched out her neck to call out her triumph to those around her. She had done it! She had fought for her freedom and escaped the confines of that shell. Rebellious would not be confined by anyone, but she would have allies. Who would join her in her freedom?

As the brown firelizard chose the one he wanted out of the crowd Tadej couldn't help but smile, "How wonderful." He murmured, lifting a hand up to scratch Einion under his chin. He would have congratulated the man on the impression were there not so many eggs still left to hatch. Deciding that such words could be saved for later after all the other had hatched and impressed he took a step closer to the pile of eggs as one of them started to rock rather rapidly, one that was attention grabbing for sure, and Tadej's eyes widened a little, "Well now that one seems to be holding someone quite excitable." He murmured to himself and Einion, then gave a bit of a gasp as the green within the egg all but exploded out of it, sending shards out in all directions.

"Well now, someone is quite proud of their entrance." He said, giving a little chuckle as he watched the way the green started to call out to the crowd, seeming quite pleased with her flashy appearance. Between this green and the bronze that hatched first he had to say that it was already quite an interesting group with very strong personalities. One could only guess what the others might be like if the first three were any indication.
