Hesper rolled over, stretching her long, lithe body. She was now very used to the rogue lands. Having gotten a thicker skin at long last and the ability to do whatever she wanted just be talking. Yes, she really was living the good life. The life she never would have had, had she stuck with what she was given.
A painful pang rippled through her chest at the thought of him though. Yes, she wasn't over him after all. Her heart always wanted to remind her of this. Plastering her ears to her head, Hesper got to her feet.
"Well isn't this a mood ruiner."
"What is?" A little voice pipped up from behind her. As if by magic, there was a fat little rolly-polly cub sitting just a few feet away from her. Sky blue eyes looking up at her curiously as he cocked his head before giving a goofy smile, " Hello."
The bright pink, black and sparkly male had to be as wide as he was tall and looked as if he was pushed over would just keep rolling. "What's a mood ruiner....and whats that mean?"
Hesper just stared at the cub that was now in front of her. She was almost horrified at how... obese the little one was. Obviously that one enjoyed eating... and his mother or father enjoyed feeding and hunting too.
Narrowing cyan eyes, Hesper let herself calm down. She really wasn't interested in answering a cubs constant questions. Nor, really entertaining the cub. But... scanning the area to see if his parents were around she didn't find anyone.
I can't leave this one alone too...
"Well... It is when you are happy or feeling good, then suddenly feel absolutely crappy. As for why... Cause I slept too long."
She smiled, she didn't need to really explain her situation to him, he wouldn't understand it anyway.
"Well why did you sleep too long?" He wrinkled his nose with a sigh, " Daddy sleeps too much, but that is just cause he says I make him tired. Does someone make you tired?"
He rolled to all four paws to move closer to her wanting to smell of her. "You are pretty, like night time. I like night time." His eyes widened as he gasped "Are you made of the night sky?"
And then she was attacked with questions again. Lovely. How could she shut the cub up? Furrowing her brows, she stared at the boy, almost laughing at his comment on his father.
I would be exhausted having a child like you around too...
"Nope, just been doing a whole lot of running around. Keeps my body healthy and muscular. ...Unlike a little someone."
Yes, that might have been rude. But in all seriousness, she was helping him. Making a cub aware of his weight might help him fix the problem. And die later in life.
Perking her ears as yet another onslaught of questions and observations were made Hesper couldn't help but laugh at the boy. Was she part of the sky? No... but she could use this to her advantage.
"Well... you see... I sort of am. I am the goddess of the night sky. But you must keep this a secret. Can you do that?"
Her other comments just rolled right off Mchumba's little brain but her admission made him gasp in delight, sky blue eyes going wide "I knew it!! Of course I will Lady Goddess ma'am!"
Chucking at how easily influenced the boy was, Hesper sat down and stared up at the sky for a few minutes. Deciding to act like she was thinking of something very important, the celestial pelted lioness glanced at the cub, then back at the sky.
"Hmm... Well then."
Looking directly at the boy now, Hesper smiled.
"I am Hesper, who might you be boy? Perhaps I could make you my caretaker."
The fat youngster all but danced in place, wiggling with joy as he beamed up at his goddess, "oh please do! I will be so good and awesome! Daddy called me Mchumba, but my siblings call me Chumb."
Well... that was absolutely adorable. And again that sting of sadness hit her heart. This is what she gave up when she decided to kill off the demons she created. One day she will be able to carry around pieces of them though. The bird was just taking a bit longer that she wanted to create the necklace she ordered.
"Well, you first must prove yourself... Mchumba. I am going to need help with a few things. Perhaps you know where to get them. It has been a long while since I have been on Earth."
She could get information from him on. Possibly even have him bring food to her... Or just have him leave her alone. It all depended on how things went.
"Where is the best watering hole around here?"
"Over there," He waved his paw towards the left which frankly covered a whole lot of ground. His blank cheerful look ought to give her a clue that he really had no concept of travel much less where to find anything.
Anytime she took her attention away for a second he inched closer, till before she realize it, he was sitting almost pressed up against her front legs with a look of utter worship in his eyes. How something so chunky could move so easily and silently was a bit...weird.
Ears drooped as the young cub waves his paws towards where ever the watering hole happened to be. ...Obviously this little cub was oblivious, or perhaps she really didn't understand cubs at all. What would they be good for?
"Ah.... Yes, over there.... Interesting."
Lifting the paw that the child had somehow almost attached himself too, Hesper picked whole self up. Might as well check this... watering hole... out. And leave the useless child behind as well.
"Well, I best go see this watering hole. And being the kind Goddess I am.... perhaps you should see your father. Wouldn't want anything to happen to you, right?"
Watching the boy basically worship her, Hesper decided to also add something that was completely out of character.
"I promise we shall meet again... When you are a bit older though. Right now, you need to grow strong for your goddess. Work your body into something brilliant and become my protector."
Mchumba was immedatly on his feet eyes bright as he smiled after her, "I will Goddess! You will see! I'll grow as big and strong as my dad and protect you!" Giving a happy giggle, he turned and raced off back in the direction he had came to go tell his father about talking to the Night sky.
Hesper smiled back, and uttered "Be safe, child." softly. However, she was unsure of if the boy had even heard her, as his pudgy self romped off back to where ever it was he was living.
Chuckling at the intriguing morning she was having, the celestial pelted 'goddess' moved towards her new destination... the watering hole.
