Xnah: -Sniffs around, looking for Liqui as her tail swishes back and forth.- Just who brought me here... and why...

Blinking her eyes open Liqui peers around, confused and with a feeling of sensory overload as she tries to remember where she was... and why... one thing remained strong however.

She had to find her.

"Xnah?" At first it was a soft cry, the feeling, the thought of being without her almost shattered her heart, she had to find her, she would know everything! "Xnah?! Please Xnah I... I'm so confused!" Nothing else mattered, she abandoned logical thought, threw away any theories and tried to focus on finding her, she always knew everything, Liqui was dependent on her mate and she well knew it.

Xnah couldn't help but frown. All these scents were new, and strange, and somehow dulled. Where was she? Where was Duke? Where was Liqui? Where was anyone? Frowning, she snorted and looked down at herself. And where were her paws?!

Nickering, she stomped her hooves in the ground, more air flaring her nostrils as she swiveled her head around. "Liqui? Liqui! Where are you?" She continued to move around, her ears swiveling around to catch sound of any life around her.

When after a few seconds there was no response, panic quickly settled in. She wouldn't of left her, no way! Xnah had promised her, she knew that much she knew that her own feelings where betraying her, and with what little she understood of the situation the last thing she needed was the reminiscent of herself to dissipate as well.

Everything was starting to cloud in her mind, so little made sense and without knowing what to do she just started running, anywhere, her Xnah had to be somewhere! "Xnah!"And what was that noise?

Slowing down she looked around, the noise had stopped, she twitched her wings as her breath came fast, had she made those noises? Looking down at her....hooves, was that right? It sure didn't feel right, she had hooves, the wings yes... that was right, oh how she longed for Xnah, she'd know exactly what was right and wrong, and why couldn't she remember what seemed to be vitally important to her situation!

Xnah continued to look around, her ears twitching every which way. There had to be someone here, right? This couldn't just be an empty land full of nothing but trees and bushes! Brown eyes swiveled every which way until she suddenly stopped, what was that? Was there a noise? She began to quickly gallop toward the sound. Moving through some low branches, a few pricked her skin causing a couple welts of blood to pool on her back, but she didn't stop.

And then, after shifting through some more trees, she forced through and paused. Her ears lurched forward as she sniffed the air. It smelled familiar. She knew that scent! But the being in front of her was... strange... strange yet... she knew her. The colors... the markings.. was it? Could it really be Liqui? But she was a... it didn't make sense! "Liqui? Is that you?" Xnah stumbled forward, eagerness in her eyes.

In an instant her gaze shot from her hooves to the voice, that voice she knew that voice! Shooting forward she threw her entire weight into her run and towards the voice "Xnah!" Liqui didn't take in the differences at first, she just knew that voice and she knew it meant warmth, safety, peace and that it belonged to her saviour.

When she reached Xnah she leaned in without thought and nuzzled her cheek but wait.... that didn't feel right. Eyes widening she leans back and takes in the others scent, looking at her for the first time "I.. I don't understand... this... isn't right, is it? I know you, your Xnah, your MY Xnah please... please tell me it's you!" the last turned to a sob, her mind had started to swirl, it was so difficult to separate right from wrong, was she crazy?

Returning the nuzzle, Xnah wanted to let out a purr but she noticed the familiar rumbling was gone. Musing, her eyes lifted to glance at Liqui. Something was wrong, wasn't it? Why was she crying? Not fully understanding, Xnah licked Liqui's tears away and frowned, "Its me Liqui, I would never leave your side. I promised. I promised I would always be here. Always. No matter what. I will never leave you again."

Sucking back her sobs she relaxed a tiny amount "Xnah..." her voice was a whisper and yet it held so much force, their love would conquer anything, and her mate would never leave her, Liqui knew that now more than every.

"Why does this all feel so wrong... Your Xnah but I don't recognize you! I don't recognize anything!" She was feeling so lost, trying to just focus on the feel of Xnah before her, against her. She must be crazy, or this all truly was different and new.

At her question Xnah shook her head back and forth. "I'm not sure." She took a look around the forest, "But I don't think we're on Tiansha anymore. None of these trees are familiar, I'm sure most of them didn't even grow on the Isle." Frowning, she made sure to keep Liqui close. "And we're..." She swallowed hard, sighing just a bit. "We're different. Something happened... and I'm not sure how we came here... or came to be... horses." The wings on her back fluttered and she growled a little. "Or... why I'm a fairy..." There was a hint of irony in her voice.

The sound of Xnah's voice did wonders to calm Liqui, though it did little to sate her confusion "We weren't horses before?" It was a genuine questions, she really didn't remember, she knew this form felt wrong.. "These feel right" as she said it she flexed her wings out and back again making the feathers ruffle. "Are your wings wrong? Are we dreaming... XNAH!" She looked appalled all of a sudden as she noticed the cuts on her mate "Your hurt!" In all this she'd gotten hurt and there was a looming feeling deep inside that told her it was her fault... something she'd done in her past could hurt her Xnah... yet she didn't know what or why.

Frowning, Xnah could only remember a little herself, and she didn't remember being a fairy. "I think they're wrong." Musing, she twisted her head back and forth, getting a look at her back. She knew it stung, but she didn't realize how bad she had scratched it up. "Nah, I'm fine. They're only minor. I'm fine, I promise." She put a smile on her face. "I don't believe so. I remember having.... a tail. Something much more... fleshy." She flicked the hair that was her tail. "Its not just you Liqui. And I'm not sure its a dream either."

"Let me get those." She smiled gently and moved closer around to lick her mates scratches but as the first of the blood entered her mouth she found herself coughing a little, the taste seeming foreign in her mouth. Frowning she moved back and looked away "I.." sighing she slumped a little, she'd offered out of habit she realised, yet now it seemed her taste buds where totally foreign to her. Though the act of slumping brought her attention to the weight of her hair and tail, she felt imbalanced on the spot with a sense of vertigo. "C...Can we find somewhere to sit? I don't feel like I know my own body Xnah.. everything is just weird my hair and tail feel heavy."

"Of course." Xnah led her carefully to a tree and laid down beside her. Her legs folded carefully under her and she was painfully aware of how clumsy and heavy her feet were. Where were her claws? Shifting her eyes upward, the trees seemed to shift and sway from the passing wind, she had an overwhelming feeling of wanting to climb. However, there was absolutely no way to climb with these legs. "Are you alright Liqui?" As she asked this she turned her full attention back to her best friend.

Liqui followed slowly assuming Xnah was just being careful for her and having no hint that she was struggling with these changes as she was. Laying down she leaned into her mate and trying to calm her breathing, steadily she nodded "I'm just... really confused, some things seem to be missing, others are new and some things are just completely different! And I don't know why I don't remember what's normal... I only have feelings, but I know my feelings for you, Xnah I'm so glad your here... I'd be lost without you, the one thing I know... I really KNOW is that I love you." With that she shivered at the passing breeze and leaned into the love of her life.

Xnah couldn't help but smile. It still felt somewhat new to her to hear those words from Liqui. All the struggles they had faced, all the changes, all the hoping, all the pain of believing that she would never feel the way Xnah had felt for her. Xnah leaned down and kissed Liqui's cheek. "That is all I need, all I'll ever need. We'll make it through this, I know it Liqui. Together, together always. Because of that nothing can stand in our way again." She gave a nuzzle against Liqui and somehow in her heart she knew everything would be okay.

Closing her eyes with the kiss Liqui felt her heart jump, without realizing it she attempted to curl her tail in Xnah's. Then also tried to wrap her wing around her's but found it awkward with the fairy wings, but instead of feeling depressed she left out a little chuckle finding it amusing. Leaning over she gave up and licked Xnah's cheek back then moved in to nuzzle nose to nose.

"Together forever, It feels like I've known you a lifetime, did we grow up together?"

Xnah was a little surprised at the question. She then felt her head nod. "I... I think so... I know I've known you since cubhood..." Cubhood? Why had she said that? Was this place so much different from where they had grown up together? It was... She was raised by someone else. It was just on the tip of her tongue. It wasn't her parents who raised her, it was a male. A male that was different from her. What was his name? What was he? What was she? And just where were they?

"Cubhood?" the world both filled her with joy, confusion and also sorrow, warmth from happy smiles and games yet no images. Liqui went with the confusion and let the thoughts flow, the sorrow... it was both warmth yet it made her heart ache. The ache promoted her to look at Liqui then her hooves, she found herself trying to flex them, yet there were no claws to extend but the big bulky masses did feel so wrong and she did feel like she should have claws. "I think thats right... it sounds right." Then she looked back to Xnah and imaged her as a lion, with fairy wings and grinned "You'd look pretty as a lion too."

Hearing Liqui say lion made something in Xnah click. "Lion?" Her eyes flicked open wide and she slowly nodded. "We were lions... weren't we?" Her tail shifted, and she frowned. "But I didn't have these wings... I had wings... like yours, didn't I?" There was a sound of confusion in her voice, but it did sound right.

Looking Xnah over again she pictured her as a lion again with wings like hers then when it didn't fit right she played with the colours in the head, the more she did so the more it seemed right. "I think so!" Flexing her wings it seemed a startling revelation to the mare "Lions to... horses... Wow.. That would explain why I went to clean your wounds by licking them, it felt so right but It tasted nasty..." That brought a frown to her face, this was a drastic change, with so many unanswered questions still with only feelings and fragmented memories to go by. Looking up at the sky she pondered "Do you think we could fly... and what about now?"

Tilting her head up to the sky, she tried to picture it. "I'm not really sure." Musing she glanced back down at Liqui, "Though I think I'm too tired right now to attempt it. Maybe we should try to find some food though." As her stomach growled, she felt the need to eat something warm. But the more and more she thought about it her teeth couldn't handle red meat. They were way too flat. Liqui was right about this body not being able to handle blood.

"Your right... all this being confused is really tiring." In answer to Xnah her stomach growled in response to her mates as if they where starting up their own conversation! The thought brought a smile to her lips again till she realised she had no clue what her stomach wanted "Uh... what do we... eat? She too thought it over and brought back the bitter taste the blood left in her mouth.

Shaking her head, "I'm not sure." Ugh. All of this was exhausting. Her eyes shifted over the brush and trees and she frowned. Nothing looked appetizing. But she could remember eating grass occasionally when there was no other food source. Of course, that was only as a last resort. "I don't even see any animals we could eat. So I guess... we could settle on some.. grass." Even the sound of the word left a sick feeling in her stomach. She could always remember greens as making her stomach feel odd. But food was food. It was better than going hungry.

Liqui looked around with Xnah, lions ate meat, she ate meat but not now... so what instead? She followed Xnah's line of sight and when she said grass she found herself raising a brow, nothing sounded appetizing about that and for a second she thought her love may of just finally lost it with all this going on. "Grass..." She had to repeat it to clarify that's the word, leaning down and sniffing at the grass around them, this wasn't the scent she remembered from grass. If her nostrils worked differently then surely her taste buds would... with that she took a mouthful and chewed.

Working it around in her mouth her face dropped, it didn't conjure any amazing feelings... or thoughts only that a longing wasn't getting to get forfilled by this green stuff. Her stomach gave a weak rumble as she forced herself to swallow "It's a good thing I don't have any memory of eating before... or I think I'd be rather disappointed with that... It's... ok?"

Xnah couldn't help but frown after swallowing her own bite. "If that's what you can call it... Though, I guess its not as bad as I remember it being." She snorted at a blade of grass and forced herself to take another bite. As she chewed she noticed her teeth were rather flat, so she wouldn't have been able to eat meat again even if she wanted to. Ugh. This seemed so weird and unfair. Just where were they? Tilting her glance toward her mate, she took a breath, "Are you alright Liqui?" Wherever they were she would have to make sure they would be alright. This land was strange, but she wouldn't give up making a life for the two of them no matter where they were.

Liqui took another blade and chewed forcing herself not to spit it back out as she nodded and made herself swallow, it did little to alleviate her stomach's demand for food. Once the small all-deal was over with she faced her mate with a curious look "You've eaten grass before? not that I'm sure about anything right now, but I'm pretty sure I haven't." Letting out a sigh she shook her head "I'm not sure I could get used to that... surely if we where supposed to eat it... it would at least taste nice?" Then she yawned it had been a bizzare few hours, with so much uncertainty still.

Xnah frowned but nodded, "I remember... eating grass when I was really young... when I was alone.." It was a vague feeling, but she couldn't shake the memories of utter loneliness filling her when she was a child. Nor could she shake the starvation. She had a feeling she was hungry a lot. "I'm... not really sure Liqui." She sighed a bit, wishing she had the answers to tell her. "All I know is all that matters is we're together. We'll figure the rest out together."

Surprise then a feeling of pity consumed Liqui, she may be without her memory but perhaps some of them she was better without. Leaning in closer she shifted closer to her mate and nuzzled her "We'll never be alone again I know that without a doubt." With a soft smile the mare smiled and closer her eyes, moving again to rest her head on Xnah, she was very comfortable even in this form... and warm... and in that moment nothing seemed to matter but them.

Xnah couldn't help but smile. She leaned down and licked her mate's cheek. "Of course. I won't ever leave you... You will never have to be afraid again Liqui..." She then snuggled closer and closed her eyes. She would try to figure out the rest tomorrow, but for now this was all that mattered.
