The advertisement for a School Picnic had been up for about 4 days, set to be held on a Spookday Evening... Which is well over a week since the students came home from the field trip; it was probably enough time for students to rest up, relax, calm down, get back into the swing of things. Despite the fact that there were Alpaca wandering about the school compound - what was that all about anyway?! - they were mostly harmless, and did not get in the way of the picnic planning.
The area picked for the picnic was in school, on a patch of grass beside a lake. The trees around the picnic area had been decorated with wind chimes; the sound produced was rather melodic, although it helped that it wasn't too windy. The lake itself had several lanterns, made in the shape of a lotus flower, floating on it, lighting up the lake.
From the sound produced by the wind chimes to the current view of the lake, it could be said that the whole picnic was set up to be rather romantic, or at least, the organizers wanted to give the students a night of relaxation... Especially after all that they've been through. There were two tables set up under one of the trees, draped with purple table cloth...
OOC: -> Secretly sort of a farewell picnic/funeral/memorial for Riley, who was the School Student Council President! -> But seriously, this is a picnic. Hold your 'crawling in my skinnnnn' and have fun. >| <33 -> Feels are allowed though! Think of this as... CLOSURE. Time to move on from the grieving, like with deaths irl.

On one of the tables, there were two bowls of every flavor fruit punch, as well as paper cups to hold the punch. This was, of course, provided for picnic-goers who did nit think of bringing their own drinks. The main attraction of that table, however, were the many cupcakes. They were placed on specialized cupcake holders, tiered in such a way that it almost looks like a colorful, delicious three-tiered cake for far.
The best thing? Each color stood for a different flavor.
From the "special" flavors such as brains, blood, pumpkin cider, bacon, bone, and bugs, to the "common" flavors such as booberry, chocolate, vanilla, candycorn, and cheese, each cupcake was baked earlier that morning and afternoon in school. The table beside the table holding refreshments, however, held nothing edible. One half of it held lanterns, made in the shape of a lotus flower; in each flower laid a single unlit candle, and a box of matches. Those who know candles will realize that these candles were ones that, once lit, would burn until there is nothing else to burn. In fact, it would probably burn till morning unless someone threw water on the flame.
While there were no specific instructions, the lanterns already lit and released onto the lake were probably good enough instructions for most people to follow - light a candle, secure it on the lantern, and float it on the lake. On the other side of the same table, there were numerous wind chimes, the same ones that had been hung up on the trees. While simple looking, these were all hand-made by students, as each one - if you looked closely - hold subtle differences. There was a note secured to the table, right beside the wind chimes.
"Take one, and never forget. Remember who you are, and what you stand for, when it chimes."

Everything was... well, it hesitated to use the word perfect, as a memorial for its love's death was imperfect by its nature, but. It was as Riley would have wanted, it felt. The plague doctor had arrived early, before anyone else save those setting up, and spent a while looking at the cupcakes, brushing its fingers through the windchimes, and looking out over the lake in silence, watching the floating lights. And then, of course, it had a good cry, but that was to be expected. After it had regained its composure somewhat, it returned to Lizzy's side, reaching out to put one hand on the demoness' shoulder. " Grazie mille," it said, quietly. "What you have done, I cannot... I cannot thank you enough, but I can offer you this." It held out its other hand and opened its fingers, revealing the emblem within.

She did not mind Malodore being around early; in fact, she had sort of expected him to be there early, given the nature of the picnic. However, she did not expect that.
"I..." She looked at the emblem, and then up at the plague doctor, before closing her mouth; if this was what he wanted to do... Then it would be rude of her to reject. Slowly, she took the emblem from him, holding it tightly in her fist. Her voice was soft, and she felt so moved that if she tried to speak any more, she would probably start to tear up, "Thank you."

Jericho had been hesitant at first, but after a good amount of thinking, he decided to go to the picnic. Though it was night, he still donned the cloak just in case. He even helped set a few things up. As for the alpaca... well it was probably a good thing he hadn't left his room often. There'd be a few less wandering around for the horsemen.
Seeing everyone once it was all set up, he felt tears welling up within his eyes once more. This was for her. He just knew it.
Making his way over to the cupcake table, he grabbed three of them before wandering over towards Lizzy and Malodore, offering them each one.
"Brain flavored... she would have loved these.." he said, trying not to crush the cakes in his claws.

"Ah, Jericho!" She quickly wiped her eyes, and cleared her throat, one hand slipping into her skirt pocket, releasing the emblem she was clinging to, "Glad you could make it! Ah, thank you-" She took the offered cupcake, "You know, you could put the cupcake on a lantern, and then put a candle on top of the cupcake..."
Biting into the cupcake, she recoiled, staring at the pastry like it had just offended her, "This smells like durian."

A little further away, stood Shun. Picnics were not really something he did. Then again the same could be said for just about any sort of social gathering. He wasn't really sure what it was that compelled him to come, but he was there right now.
Quietly, he peered into the water, reflecting on a few memories. He wasn't close to her at all, but he did respect her as a leader and as a fighter. Strangely enough, it was for that reason that he had tried to kill her when things went wrong. Not everyone likely would understand him in that regard, but that was just how it was.
Eyeing the lotus shaped lanterns to the side, he gently picked one up, examining it. There was a candle within the center. And there were matches nearby as well. Curious.
He went ahead and took a match to light the candle.
"Kanete naki. Mi koso yasukere. Yuki no michi," he murmured before kneeling and carefully placing the lantern into the water.

"That's.. not a bad idea actually. Won't it sink the flower though?" Jericho asked while furrowing his brow. He was about to take a bite out of his cupcake but the reaction Lizzy had caused him to pause warily.
"...Durian?" he repeated before sniffing his cupcake warily. It didn't smell bad... He then went ahead and took a bite out of it. Bacon. Odd flavor for a cake. But not bad either.
"Mmm... Bacon."

Hel was what one would call…possibly still in denial. Yes, she had seen the statue, yes, she could sense everyone’s sadness, and yes, she could sense the ulterior motive behind this picnic…but still, it just didn’t seem real. The ghoul’s lips were pulled into a small, contemplative frown as she stood by the water’s edge, staring off at the floating lanterns and letting the sounds of the chimes envelope her.
She had been playing Diplomacy with Riley on the Isle of Conquest the last time she had seen her. She owed Riley favors. How was she supposed to settle those now?
The ghoul glanced back at the others who had gathered thus far, feeling a twinge of sympathy for Malodore, before turning her attention back to the lanterns where she crossed her arms and just stared. She stared until rustling caught her attention, and she looked down and over at Shun, watching as the grim placed a lit lantern into the water…and then spoke something. Hel’s brows furrowed, and she knelt, looking over at the reaper.
“…Oi…” Her voice was soft for once. “…What did you say?”

Hearing Hel address him, Shun turned towards her, raising an eyebrow as she inquired what he had just said.
"Since time began, the dead alone know peace. Life is but melting snow," he translated quietly before glancing towards the lit lantern in the water, "It's an old saying. Poem actually."
He knew a few sayings and whatnot that had to do with death. This one in particular just seemed to be most appropriate. To him at least.

"It should float!" She nodded, looking up from her offending cupcake, "They are stronger than they look!"
Like the smell and taste of this cupcake.
"... Would you like my durian cupcake."

"... I'll pass."
Durian was a fruit. Jericho hated fruits.

It was a cupcake. Bitches love-
Wait, Jericho's not a b***h.
Plan foiled.
"Alright," She made the saddest face ever at Jericho.
