Believe it or not, threads of magic are gently intertwined with every fragile fabric of our reality. The world in which we exist is never a permanent realm of residence, but is instead one in which other realms are easilly created and accessed. Do not get the wrong idea, for new worlds are never created intentionally. Rather, these places are forged and kept within the realm of dreams. Most of these worlds exist exclusively for the person who created them, just echoes of his or her psyche as he or she sleeps the night away. These sort of dream worlds are called Passive Worlds, and cease to exist once the dreamer dies or is absorbed into another dream world. It is impossible for two passive dreams to intermingle.

When two dreamers' worlds to come in contact with one another, misfortune almost always comes about as a byproduct of this union. [[One who has both a powerful subconcious grasp of magic and severe misfortune might create a larger dream realm, one that solidifies and lasts beyond his or her death in the physical world. Such dreamers, upon their deaths, will become the sentient catalysts of their dream worlds - by then becoming what are called Queens. [More often than not, such dreamers are female and make themselves the monarchs of the world they create, hense the title. However, Queens are not exclusively female. Males are simply not as common as females are.] Over time, Queens lose all memories of the life they lived in the physical world, although they retain most of their personality traits and anxieties. [Should a Queen have been troubled with fear or loathing over any particular individual, (s)he will occassionally feel dread and anxiety in situations that would normally have reminded her/him of that particular individual yet will not have the faintest clue as to why.] Queens will also, no matter what they were like in life, grow to love dominating others and will not have any qualms against absorbing other dreamers and stealing their worlds.]] These dreams often feed off of magical essence and other dreamers' worlds, absorbing them into itself and devouring the inhabitants within. Such realms are called Imperial Worlds. These sort of worlds are far more stable than Passive Worlds, oddly enough, and creatures will eventually begin to develop within.

Pawns are people created or born within the confines of an Imperial World. They can only exist in such worlds due to the fact that these creatures are just like us in the sense that they have their own minds, prefferences, and various appearances just as we do. Since these are dream worlds, a Pawn can appear however his or her Queen originally designs the species within to look like. Some are more humanoid, others animalistic, others still resembling creatures of folklore and legend. There is a wide variety of 'species' of Pawn, far too many to be truly and accurately listed. No matter what they look like or what they think or believe, a Pawn's sole reason for existance is to provide company for his or her Queen and to cater to his or her desires either directly or indirectly. Sometimes, this even means invading more Passive Dreams and abducting the dreamers within. Such dreamers, if they linger for too long within an Imperial World, will be absorbed into the dream and transformed into a lesser Pawn - losing all memories of his or her previous dreams and life in the process. [In a Passive World, such creatures would be but shallow reflections of a dreamer's thoughts and perceptions, not truly sentient in the least.]

As Passive Dreamers are the prey of Imperial Dreamers, creatures called Dream Eaters feed off of Imperials whose dreams begin to grow too big. This process is not quite as naturally done as when the Imperial Dreamers absorb more Passive ones, however. In order to feed off of an Imperial World, a Dream Eater must use one of two methods: the first, and most commonly done, would be to find the Queen's mental weaknesses and use them against her(/him) - causing enough strife to easilly sever her(/his) connection to the Dream World and leave it vulnerable for absorbtion on the Dream Eater's part. When this method is used, the world becomes completely barren and lifeless, with the Queen left as nothing more than a mindless husk. The barren world is then either deconstructed so that the Dream Eater may increase its own power or is used to build and expand upon its home realm beyond the land of dreams. The second method, which is only done when a Dream Eater wishes to reproduce, is to charm its way into the Queen's good graces and to gradually feed off of a portion of the magical energy absorbed when the Imperial World devours enough Passive Ones. Instead of ripping the Queen's mind and dreams away, the Dream Eater simply offers her(/him) the chance to become stronger and merge her(his) world with his - the Queen and Dream Eater then forming a strange bond in which their merged energies will eventually begin producing new Dream Eaters. Since the Dream Eater will be getting a steady income of dreams to devour at that point, it will often do this as a method of "retiring" to a discovered Dream World in which it finds pleasant or otherwise amusing. These Dream Eaters are called Kings, as they often masquerade as such amongst the Pawns and victem Dreamers that are pulled into that particular realm. [Reproduction does not have the same romantic undertones for Dream Eaters as it does for human beings, meaning that the partnership between the King and Queen does not necessarilly have to be romantic. It many cases, it is more of a platonic friendship or even an oddly friendly rivalry.]

Dream Eaters do not have any definite form or gender. One can never truly be identified by appearance alone, for a Dream Eater could be anything. Whether it be mythological, animalistic, humanoid, or even in resemblance to inanimate objects, a Dream Eater looks however it wishes to. Eventually, after years and years of devouring Imperial Dreams, a Dream Eater might possibly keep a form that it preffers - establishing its own signature identity of sorts as it weaves in and out of the lives of imperial dreamers and their dreams.

Dreamers are average humans who are either asleep within their own Passive Worlds or in a comatose state whilst trapped in the realm of an Imperial dreamer. When not within his or her own realm, a Dreamer has a limited amount of time to escape the clutches of the Queen who abducted him/her and his/her pawns or else he or she will be absorbed into the Imperial World only to become a lesser pawn him/herself. Dreamers do not have any spectacular powers outside his or her Passive Realm, but instead are only as able as he or she is in the physical world - possibly even less given the circumstances. Like Queens, a Dreamer can take on certain traits and appearances he or she might favor, but will always strongly resemble what he or she appears(or appeared) like in the physical world. For example, one who might love animals will take on certain physical traits such as patches of fur and hooves or possibly even wings, but will still retain his or her body shape and face. This gives many dreamers a sort of "mythological creature" look, and was probably the inspiration for many creatures of mythology known, loved, and told tales of in the physical world.

In the physical world, the plane in which is known as 'reality' to Dreamers, the story begins around mid-2015. Within the past two years, a strangely terrifying medical outbreak has occured. Random people from all over the world never wake from their sleep, left in an unresponsive vegetative state until their bodies eventually wither and deteriorate from a lack of sustinence and maintanence. Called the Eternal Nightmare, its left millions around the world too scared to sleep.

The truth of the situation is that the power balance between Imperial Dreamers has been disrupted, since for the first time in a millenia, one Imperial World has successfully absorbed another - creating an extremely hungry and dangerous dream world in the process. As one can imagine, such a find is considered a delicacy amongst Dream Eaters. Several have found their way into this dream in hopes of the grandest of meals only to meet their doom. Several more have come with a similar purpose in mind, but whether or not any of them is successful has yet to be seen.

All while this is going on, random Dreamers have been pulled into this beheamoth of an Imperial Dream, left with not much time or chance to escape before they too join the legions of Pawns that serve under this mysterious Queen. A chance is still a chance, however, and if they work together and combine their wits, they may just make it back to their Passive Worlds safely and soundly before too much damage has been done. What happens next for the Queen, her Pawns, the Dreamers, and the Dream-Eaters all depends on the choices made by you, the role-players and writers of this strange tale.

1. Auto-Hitting, Power-Playing, Omega-Dodging, and God-Modding are all entirely forbidden unless the plot demands it be so. There are certain points and certain characters which cannot and should not be defeated at certain points in a story, this is understandable, but I shall be the one to decide who and when that is. If I do not deem it appropriate, you will only get one warning.

2. There will possibly be several darker themes within this roleplay, possibly of a violent or even sexually implied nature. If you cannot handle the bad guy winning in the end of many story arcs, if you cannot handle a sympathetic character suffering and/or dying, if you cannot handle conflict even, you should probably look elsewhere. Although the topic at hand is dreams and imagination, this world is not a pretty place for those lower on the food chain. Whether it is your character's innocence, their life, or even their self, expect for him/her to lose something or another along the way. [[TLDR; Adult themes, drama, and misery are all to be expected. If that's not your thing, don't join.]]

3. Cybering is disgusting and I will have no part of it. In this thread, neither will you. Should things get sexual between two characters, either take it to the PM's or "phaze out". [[FYI - the latter is when you stop posting in the thread momentarilly as those characters until enough time has elapsed with the other characters for the sexy tiem ones to have done the deed. A nice alternative to cybering without having to interrupt everyone's roleplaying or make your character entirely chaste, am I right? ...No? ...Don't care, that's how things fly here. emotion_dealwithit ]]

4. Romance, Conflict, and Creativity are all allowed and heavilly encouraged. Violence is expected at some point or another, as I highly doubt this sort of story is the type to do without. Cursing is allowed so long as you don't literally make every other word in your post some sort of swear word or another. Using the F BOMB is fun, I know, but have some friggin' manners why don't you?!

5. I retain the right to accept or reject characters, to choose which roles may be taken and which may not, or to do whatever else that I see fit for managing this roleplay. If you disagree with my judgement or the judgement of another RP'er, PM me and we will work things out from there. Any sort of OOC bullcrap brought into my thread will only get you one warning before you are suspended or banned from this roleplay.

6. If you are going to be inactive, please post in the Hello-Goodbye thread. If, for some odd reason or another, I do not post within four days without having given a notice beforehand, feel more than free to poke and prod me until I start posting again.

Appearance:

Bio: Lillian's dream world originated as but a moderately large garden her family had owned in life. Bright flowers crawled about the ground and fence walls encasing the area, leaving a wide array of pleasant scents to linger in the air. This and the fish pond centered within are all that Lillian remember of her life. During her early days as an Imperial Dreamer, she was content with simply that. As is the case for all Queens, however, a relatively small living space with absolutely no company was in no way a satisfying place to rule over.

It wasn't long until Lillian began imagining up company for herself, plant and fish like creatures to sing and play with her as she liked. They fawned over her, adored her, echoed her every thought. At first, this was a pleasant and delightful situation. Unfortunately, even that did not last. They provided nothing new, no challenge or reward, so it wasn't long until these Pawns proved to still not be enough. Lillian then demanded that new blood be brought to her world, that it be allowed to grow and prosper as a real civilization would. Her Pawns were devistated that their love alone could not satiate her, but nevertheless, they complied with her wishes and dragged a Passive Dreamer into their world. The process of converting this person was not very long at all, and upon doing so, the world expanded beyond the garden. There was now a small pathway leading outside, to nowhere in particular. Lillian was thrilled, yet still she wanted more.

Lillian's greed and lust for companionship drove her to keep stealing and absorbing Passive Dreamers to the point in which she had created a massive Queendom for herself, perhaps just as beautiful and diverse as nature is in the physical world, if not more so. Old habits die hard, unfortunately, and even this was never enough. Before she knew it, her Pawns began clashing with those belonging to other Queens. Such conflicts lead to a full out war between the two Imperal Worlds, later even to a brutal victory as Lillian eventually absorbed the other world into her own as well.

Other: Despite her vicious lust for power and her neverending hunger for expansion, Lillian is rather soft-spoken and seemingly gentle in person. She is not easilly embarassed nor is she ashamed of what she is doing as a Queen of her realm. In fact, Lillian believes her actions to be right and just, for she is "offering happiness" and "an escape from isolation and an unforgiving world". As of late, Lillian is also becoming somewhat of a hopeless romantic.

Likes: The game of cat and mouse. Extremely fun and provides a good exercise for the mind and body. The occasional brawl. Fights are fun. Killing is fun as well, but keeping the opponent alive is better. They're perfect for displaying battle scars you've inflicted. Aimlessly floating around is incredibly enjoyable. It makes you realize how much time you have in your hands. And the euphoric feeling of freedom is ever present. Lovely, really. Of course, the best is for last. Tasting their imagination. Now that's probably the best thing you can experience. It's like a burst of flavours and colours fill your life. An absolutely delicacy is what that is.
Dislikes: Rodents. Horrible things, really. Then there's the grotesque creatures that those dreamers come up with. Also.. Too many clothes and high. Some queens seem to love those heavy articles of clothing. How can they move? How can they run? Wait.. I guess that works to his advantage.

Bio: Dmtri was the product of the union between a King and a Queen. Their combined realm was like a fantasy that someone had yet to pen down. It was exquisite. Violence and peace intertwined with one another, yet the lands had not been destroyed. It was wonderful. It was horrible. It exposed Dmtri to all sorts of things that the real world was, is, and has yet to be.

Once he had deemed herself capable of handling himself, Dmtri had bid his parents farewell and set off. He had been to multiple Imperial Worlds and consumed their Queens, expanding his territory. Mind you, it was no easy task. But the pay-off was definitely worth it.

He was quite content with his lifestyle. Yes, was. But something interesting happened. Two Imperial Worlds had clashed. The moment news had reached his ears, the Dream Eater had taken off with only one intention in mind. To take that World. The current Queen was obviously something. But he had no interests in women. He was more interested in succeeding, since many other Dream Eaters had failed.
Other: With a sizeable home, Dmtri had turned it into his own playground. No, it isn't a torture chamber nor an actual playground meant for kids. It resembled the natural lands found in the real world. One noticeable factor is that the land and sea had.. combined into an entirely new terrain.

Likes: - Competition. Just the fact of even considering that someone is better than him gets his blood pumping adrenaline all over. A rush that makes him feel alive.
- Ancient lore of Vampires and Demon Hunters. It just amazes him how such creatures could exist; and how much joy he'd have killing them. He tried posing as one for awhile. Wasn't so fun as the latter.
- The colour Blue. It's just a must for Oliver. More like an addiction.
- Holy Relics. He just has a fascination for a greater power. Something beyond the naked eye. And well, because it makes his demonic foes scream in agony and writhe in pain.
Dislikes: - Your generic "Hero". Oh please. The person who acts like everyone matters, someone so selfless and so flawed. It just feels disgusting thinking about how someone could be something as low as that. If it's not perfect, it shouldn't be.
- Indecisiveness. JUST YES OR NO. TWO SIMPLE ANSWERS. There's no need to complicate it with "what if's" or "maybe".
- Technology. I mean there isn't any point in things that don't involve killing or getting killed, is there?
- Bugs. I don't think there needs to be a statement why, no?
Appearance:
Bio: Oliver was brought up in a world conquered in fear. There was a time where everything was peaceful in the early years of his existence; but that changed once the king tried to devour the queen's world after such a lofty era of nothingness. He apparently missed the thrill of devouring dreams and decided to take the whole realm with him. Back then Oliver didn't care since he was planning to start finding his own dreams to devour, but it was a forced card for him to get involved. The king had started to eat away at the realm and everything started to wither; except for Oliver, who decided not to flee along with the other Dream Eaters. He wanted something more than just surviving another day. He wanted the realm for himself. He spent months alone, killing off all of the queens pawns who were still loyal to her cause; even after she withered to just an empty shell. Eventually he made it to the King's keep; which ironically was designed after the same lore that Oliver and the King loved; Vampires & Vampire Slayers. Ironically; they both assumed one of each title; Oliver being the latter. He eventually overpowered the King, and took the realm for his own to devour; well, what was left of it anyway. And then started his lust for power. More dreams. More death. More power, and more land.

He kept devouring worlds he could get his hands on; sparingly compromising with the queens for just a small amount. He wanted it all. Sadly; over time he developed a taste for worlds. He only had an appetite to even be bothered with them unless there was a massive slaughter at hand. Nevertheless; he gained tremendous power, yet still decided to stay in the form of a Vampire Hunter. Why? Because it reminded him of the glorious day he realized he wanted everything.
Other: Even though his desires are chaotic; He still has a heart. Innocent people don't need to be involved; unless they already are, or if he's bored. He just has no remorse or doubts in what he does.

Bio: Alyce grew up in an overall middle-class life style. But at the same time, she still had multiple.. 'Problems.' She ended up in fights in school, be it physical or merely arguments. She's been betrayed on numerous occasions, and eventually got to the point where she didn't trust anyone but those from her own family.

More recently, she was walking down a dim street on her way home. It was on the verge of dusk. But at sounds of yells, one being more familiar than the rest, along with sounds that sounded all too familiar to Alyce, she changed course and began running towards the sounds. When she was close enough to see, someone was on the ground with three people around them, all on a bridge. In anger, Alyce rushed towards them, managed to knock out the first one, but the two other males grabbed her, and threw her off the bridge they were on. All she remembers from that moment on is smacking her head off of something, and seeing the swirling crimson in the river around her before her eyes closed.

Now, she lies in a hospital bed, in a coma. She was having extremely strange dreams -- this much she knows. But one: one that seems to be continuing, unending. Almost as if she had created some sort of strange world. At the same time, however, it's as though she has woken up in this world, and has characteristics of a wolf. Ears, tail, sharp canines, and a couple of different personality traits. Nothing makes sense now. At least, not yet.
Other: Has a scar on her right side ( stretching from her back to the side of her stomach ). Also, her fights weren't due to her being a troublemaking 'rough and tough' or violent type of person. They were all as a result of her either protecting someone, or defending herself. She's actually rather quiet, but can be nice if she likes you enough. She can also be extremely, and possibly too curious at times.
