What non-existent Bible verse have you ever heard quoted? One of the non-existent quotes I hear quite frequently is "God helps them who helps themselves." This is found NO WHERE in the Bible. In fact, it's antithetical to the Old Testament, New Testament, and Gnostic scriptures.
So share your non-existent Bible quotes.

I've heard several that I couldn't find in the King James bible, the version I have. I can't remember them now, but I discussed this with my brother two years ago. He pointed out that some verses have been removed from some versions and not from others while some verses were added to certain versions and not to others. So just because I couldn't find the verse in my own bible doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just that it isn't in my bible.
I have also found that while some verses are in my bible as quoted, they are listed differently. Possibly because of added/removed verses. So John 3:16 in one bible could be John 3:14 in my own (random example).

frog_mage ....But also, One I haven't found yet is "The lion shall lie down with the lamb". This is actually a misquote of Isaiah 11:6 Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Qyp Biggest misquote... "God HATES........." The only place I can find, God hates anything is Deuteronomy 16:22 22 and do not erect a sacred stone, for these the Lord your God hates. He detests somethings, but doesn't hate...

He detests somethings, but doesn't hate... Oh he hates THINGS... like idols... But that seems to be about it. And Leviticus is the only place I could think of with lots of detesting...

I currently don't have anything to really contribute to this conversation except for the fact that this reminds of in "Fiddler on the Roof", Tevye would say Yiddish proverbs and claim they were in the Torah, or, as he called it, "The Good Book." Of course, none of them were actually in the Torah. Some of them were: Quote: When you spit in the air, it lands right in your face. Quote: When you eat two chickens, one of them is sick. Quote: A bird may love a fish, but how will they build a home together? I apologize for the "Fiddler" references, I was in a production of it a month or two ago and now everything reminds me of it. In fact, last night I dreamed we had to do another performance of it after a month of not performing. :O

Golden Black Tea "Spare the rod, spoil the child." This is the origination of that phrase... Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Eltanin Sadachbia Golden Black Tea "Spare the rod, spoil the child." This is the origination of that phrase... Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. One say to not discipline, and the original say's the complete opposite. Haha smile

Haha smile I'm not sure about that. Spoiling a child isn't usually considered a good thing and the way it's written "Spare the rod, spoil the child" could mean IF you spare the rod (don't discipline your child) then the child will grow up spoiled. Could act like a brat, not have good manners, become arrogant, etc. Obviously this is from back when people believed there was no other way. Now, being a little more open minded, I think we have the possibility of raising children better with less beatings. The important thing is to pay attention. What works with some kids won't work with others.

I don't have actual quotations but I've heard people say that the Bible says:
Committing suicide automatically gets you sent to Hell; no exceptions
Jesus cried blood
We're not supposed to cook food; God wants us to eat everything raw
THENNN...
"All men are created equal"
That would be the Constitution of the U.S.A. folks. ; o;

If these are actually in the Bible feel free to point me to the verse. (:
