Sometimes, Alex really just needed to get outside and go for a good walk, or rather, a good shamble. He might be lazy, and he might be slow, but on occasion he found that he did his best thinking while on his feet, shuffling along with no particular destination in mind. He seemed to have a lot to think about, lately, though he had some hope that things were going to settle down soon.
But that would just be too easy now, wouldn't it?
His head was bowed as though he were staring intently at the ground in front of him as he moved along, yet a movement still caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. As a zombie, he was often attracted to sudden movements, and his head snapped up, only to find himself staring straight into the eyes of an...alpaca?
He blinked in surprise, hands slowly coming out of his pockets as he just stared at the alpaca. And stared. And stared some more.
Suddenly, Alex was licking his lips, because surely, this was a sign that it was dinner time.
It was...quite large compared the the alpaca's Alexander was used to seeing, and the zomboil really couldn't help but feel quite hungry at the sight of it. Since it didn't appear to be trying to get away from him, he took one slow, shambling step towards it.
It took one slow, menacing step towards Alex, head lowered as though to charge.
Huh. Well, that was not exactly what he had been expecting. Wasn't prey normally supposed to flee from the ravenous carnivore? Pulling his lip back, baring teeth, he glared at the alpaca in return, determined not to be intimidated, and began moving towards it arms coming up, ready to capture it and drag it to the ground if he had to.
The alpaca didn't move, save to raise it's head, a strange look coming over it's face, it almost seemed like it was perhaps chewing on something, before it opened it's mouth and spat something absolutely vile and green at the zomboil, the spray getting him in the face, neck, tie, and exposed chest. The creature then turned and began to move away as though Alexander was nothing to be worried about, and the zomboil reached up to wipe away the gunk on his face, his look absolutely sour as a small growl worked it's way up his throat.
This alpaca was going down.

Taryn had been of similar mind. Her walks were really becoming the norm nowadays, and now that the voices had stopped it was much easier to leave her room without a parka. The voices had left something of a scar, though, so while the ghoul walked she did so with her shoulders hunched and her head bent forward. Abigail seemed much less affected, curiously watching their surroundings. There was no need to have four sets of eyes on the ground.
Imagine her surprise, then, when "Taryn" saw a large, wild animal standing in their way. Oh, Jack, don't move, it might see you-- Abigail's head swiveled to face the beast, her pupils widening for full perception.
It was an alpaca. Oh, Jack, was this another attack? Was this the alpacapocalypse?!
The creature didn't seem to be too interested in moving or attacking initially, and it took a moment for appendage and host to glaze over it and see just who it was staring so intently at. Alex. Well, it'd be nice to go talk to him, at least, and maybe rend him from the deadly gaze of the alpa--
OH NO IT DIDN'T.
As alpaca fluids flew, Taryn broke into a sprint. Her hooves pounded the grass as she came to take down the beast that had just attacked her friend. She flew through the air, a grand blur of red and green, arms outstretched and snake-head with its fangs bared to take down the wild beast! She made contact, body slamming into its long neck, and she felt it give way...
...for a moment.
The alpaca leaned to the side and Taryn hit something a second time. This time it was the ground. The creature's head bent back up like rubber, wobbled at bit at its peak, and then straightened. An somewhat equine head rotated every so slowly to stare down at the ghoul, its eyes somehow looking directly at her and also in two different directions.
This... this was the creepiest thing...
The chimera scuttled back on all fours and climbed to her feet, brushing herself off with as much dignity as she could manage, giving the alpaca, and then Alex, and then again the alpaca the most awkward, somewhat disturbed expression anyone was likely to have seen.

Unlike the students that had all the time in the world to just take leisurely walks whenever they wished, Sören was on a mission. Said mission was to go find as many alpacas as possible and to take them back to Priestess Medea. Naturally, when priestesses were involved, Sören was willing to do such tasks. Not that he wouldn't help out the other clansmen, but the priestesses had definite precedence.
But today he was not in the most cheerful of moods. The alpaca that he had been stalking had somehow given him the slip. He was not even sure how it was possible, but it had certainly happened, and here he was, still with no alpaca to take back. And that wasn't acceptable. But finally one of the creatures came into view. The long fuzzy neck, even from a distance, was unmistakable. The forms of students? Also unmistakable. But definitely more undesired. More useless little whelps to distract him from his mission.
But no. Wait. As he drew nearer he recognized the smaller form. "Ghoul!" he called out, not happily though he was certainly beginning to cheer up a bit. This one was somewhat useful. This one was manageable. "I need to take that alpaca back to the Lost Clan. Help me persuade it. Boil, you can be useful too, it doesn't look like you have to worry about getting dirty."
To demonstrate what he meant he gave the alpaca a forceful little love tap on its haunch.
The alpaca promptly turned and bit him. Sören glowered at the creature. The priestesses were obviously too nice to their alpacas.

Boney feet clicked their way from the Lost Clans reserve, following a trail of stubby hoofprints towards the school itself. Find the Alpacas, bring them back. It didn't seem too hard in theory...
A lot of things were easier said and done however, and the Horseman figured this out pretty easily as he stood back and watched two Halloween Children take on a pair of them. Fiesty things, these Alpacas! The Children were as well; actually, they were probably on par with one another. It was absolutely thrilling to watch, his lidded gaze moving between the hungry looking Undead and the ghoul with hooves.
Interesting.
He stood back still, even as a fellow horseman came in to claim the alpaca. Well...certainly they needed all the help they could get! That was for sure.
"Beautiful work!" The pale one said, his blood smeared hands peeking out of his robes enough to clap in appreciation. "My brash friend means that we would appreciate your assistance in any way you can help." Because, from his point of view, ordering around students on their own property was rude. Rude got you no points, and no points meant burnt bridges.
Stretching out a hand, the Sage summoned his bolas, swinging them around and sending one edge out to nick the Alpaca's leg, trying to at least immobilize it. His efforts, while satisfactory, really only got him a headbutt.

NO. NO WAY. A knot flared up in Taryn's chest when she saw the horseman that was approaching, and she wanted to just run right then... but it had defiled Alex. Screw this alpaca! It seemed as if... what was his name. It seemed as if Soren was of the same mind and wished to wrestle the beast into submission, so at least he apparently thought she would be useful. Some help would be gladly appreciated. While the alpaca was distracted, she leaped upon its back and grabbed it by the ears, tugging its head back and making its eyes protrude even further. Take that! Her hold was apparently not good enough, though, and she was bucked, tumbling to the dirt. Not to be undone, she stood up again and made to lunge once more.

Alex was more then just a little peeved with this situation, though he felt slightly appeased when a blur of red came hurtling out of no where as Taryn launched herself at what the zomboil considered to be his dinner. However, things really hadn't gone all that well, and while under different circumstances it may have been slightly amusing, watching Taryn go tumbling to the ground only seemed to further aggravate the zomboil. Positively glowering at the alpaca now, Alex took a break from the staring contest to throw Taryn a quick glance to make sure she was at least okay. He was even about to ask her how she was doing when some tall, lumbering horsemen made his way on the scene, and began giving them brusque, short commands to help him capture the creature. And if that wasn't enough? Making a quick and unnecessary jab towards Alex's appearance as well!
Mood. Further. Soured.
Considering this was his alpaca, and his dinner, he didn't quite see why he should be helping the horsemen with capturing it. No, the horsemen really just needed to step back a little, possibly even go away completely, before he had more then just an alpaca biting him. Finally Alex spoke, his words a low growl that was not uncommon for him when the hunger took over. "Sorry, but I don't believe we'll be helping you 'pursuade' the alpaca anywhere. When I'm finished with it, you're more then welcome to carry the remains of the carcass back to the priestess...if she still wants it."
Satisfied that he had gotten his point across, Alex prepared to lunge at his meal, when yet another horsemen arrived. Seriously, was everyone bound and determined to deter Alex from his mission? He stopped and gave Taryn a look, a look that said 'Are you jacking kidding me right now?' but then the new horsemen, while more polite, was attacking the alpaca, and Taryn followed soon after.
Anger welled up in the zomboil, as an incredibly strong feeling of possession came over him. "It's mine." His voice was such a guttaral growl now the words were probably not even understandable. It was no wonder zombies had such a bad reputation, because even Alex, who was quite smart most of the time, reverted to nothing more then a savage, mindless, killer when faced with the unacceptable idea that he might lose his food.
Alexander, finally, lunged towards the alpaca, adding his own efforts to the sudden frenzy, reaching out with his clawed, undead hands and grabbing a hold of the woolly fur around the alpaca's neck, digging his fingers into the flesh beneath, before darting his head down and grabbing the creatures ear with his teeth and tearing it away with a spurt of blood that sprayed Alex in the face. The alpaca made a terrible noise, suddenly terrified and overwhelmed, it charged towards the zombie, rearing up and flailing at him with it's front legs so that he was forced to make a hasty, yet still comically slow, retreat.
Blood dripped down Alex's chin and he reached up to wipe it away with the back of his hand, even as he chewed on the ear, wetting his appetite for more. He cast a quick glare at both of the present horsemen, almost as a silent warning not to mess with him any further.

"This alpaca belongs to the priestesses," he clarified, just in case the boil was a bit slow. "I'll take it back to them living."
Soren looked up as someone began to clap. It was a horseman, one from famine if their appearance was any indication. Stepping in with an insult and claiming to be his friend all in one go. With the day that the horseman was having he was not amused. in the least. But whatever words the horseman said it seemed like the ghoul who had helped him out before had no qualms with his orders.
He merely ignored the other horseman for the time being, turning instead to the ghoul....he would think of her name later probably. "If you entwine your fingers in its fur with one hand you might get a better grip next time while you attack with the other." Giving advice about something was really a form of approval for him, though whether or not it was taken that was was debatable, and worked less often than not.
But that distraction had taken his attention away from the zomboil, who could not get it through his skull that the alpaca was not his, and never had been, because it had always been the priestesses. But Soren had not been expecting the downright feral nature of a zomboil in heat towards its prey, and it was the bleating of the alpaca that had him turning, surprised at the brutality the zomboil had shown the creature. He stepped between the zomboil and the alpaca as if to shield it, ignoring the attacks the creature berated his back with. "What are you doing?!" he demanded to know. "You do not maim creatures like that, you at least kill them before eating them. Its not a human." Really, doing something like to a living, nonhuman creature was just barbaric.

Oh dear, now this wouldn't do.
Salbei took a step back, instead letting the rest of the group attack the Alpaca; he did swing his bolas here and there to at least feign that he was doing something useful. They could get the Alpaca whittled down all they wanted, but it seemed the young Zombie had a taste for blood. That would be quite the problem; as loathe as he was to barter with a child (and surely, this one would act like a child with a new toy), they needed this creature alive, not as some meal in a rotting stomach.
It was easier if he ignored the Death Horseman; brash pony was brash.
"Is there any way we can convince you to let us have this one?" He asked the Zombie, the lazy swing of his bolas slowing to a complete stop to get rid of any hint of threat he may possess. A Famine Sage, getting down to a rotting child's level; oddly enough, not out of character for this pale Horseman. "Perhaps...two Alpacas, once the Priestess has found her precious?" He suggested, stained hands stroking an equally stained chin.

"...Alex!"
Taryn had seen some screwed-up s**t go down in her life, but that pretty much topped. Augh! Still, she tugged on the alpaca's tail to try and lead it away, shaking her head.
"You can take them, what are we going to use them for?!" The beast reeled back and kicked her in the stomach, so she kicked it back. These things were mean!

"They taste better when they're alive and struggling." The zomboil stared up at the horsemen that had put himself between Alex and the alpaca. That's right. Up. Alex wasn't short, and in fact it was quite rare that he was forced to look up at anybody. But this particular horsemen... Ya, he had the same height and build as Alex's father, which actually made the zomboil feel suddenly and rather uneasy. He actually took a small shuffling step backwards, and grimaced when Taryn shouted at him, the single word cutting through the haze of his bloodlust enough to make him feel almost ashamed.
"Yin would have understood..." he muttered, suddenly wishing the more dominant weremantis was there to back him up in this situation.
The words of the other horsemen had his gaze shooting over towards him. Wait... He was offering Alex two alpacas in exchange for this one? His gaze drifted towards the massive death horsemen and Taryn once more, and the zomboil knew that he was outnumbered in this. And two alpacas.... Well, even if Alex wasn't sure that the horsemen would keep their word, it was still a chance and better then he was likely to get at this point.
"Fine..." he growled, "That seems fair enough." and then, possibly showing his sudden submissiveness, "Do you need me to help with capturing it?" it wasn't said in a meek voice, but it may have been as close to it as Alex ever got.

Soren shot a look over to the other horseman. Promising away the priestess' alpaca? That set him on edge, but perhaps it would stall things long enough to get the alpaca away. And they could always hold off one simple student. "Then it's decided. We'll take this one and you can collect the others later I the priestess approves." so maybe he tacked on the last bit. But it sounded good to him.
He glanced at the poor, mangled alpaca. "I think it's injured enough, its time to capture it and take it home." He reached out to try to grab a handful of fur to lead it along but the alpaca seemed to be done. It wanted nothing to do with him, or probably anyone. It moved to the side, evading his long reach. Oh, so they were going to do this the hard way.

Red eyes focused on Taryn, watching her as she took on the nasty little beast. "I like your little friend, oh undead one. She is very smart." He clapped his hands again, and then idly drew his gaze back to the (in his mind) problem horseman. Oh, right, this one was from Death, wasn't he? That would be a problem; Salbei always kept to his word, and it would be a shame if someone were to get in his way.
"On my word as a Sage, you'll get your two Alpacas." He practically cut off the other horseman; as loathe as he was to do so, it was important at the moment to not kill this creature. "One way or another~" He added matter-of-factly, glancing at Soren. There, see? It didn't even have to be the Priestess' Alpaca! Just...Alpaca. Surely they couldn't be that rare?
Another lazy swing of his bolas, this time in an effort to catch the creature, and when it failed he didn't seem to incredibly worried about it. Oops! Oh well, looks like someone else would have to try to catch it (including Soren; but at least he helped a little!)!. Instead he gave a half-hearted shrug and fished out something from the inside of his robes; a crude and well-used notebook, complete with it's own little pen.
"Your contact information if you would, child!" Salbei asked sweetly, looking positively excited as he held out his treasured notebook to the bloodlusting Zomboil. "And yours as well, sweetling!" Just in case he couldn't find the boil of course; he assumed they were friends from the brief interaction they had.

Smart? Hah! Damn straight she was smart! Taryn liked this horseman much better... she was pretty sure it was a man. It had glorious hair either way.
"Oh! Um... sure," she nodded, pulling a small pad of paper from her pocket and noticing a few drops of blood spattered across her peacoat. "...Jack damn it, Alex!" She understood bloodlust and all, but this was her only jacket! With an annoyed huff, she brushed her hair behind an ear and began to write her information. "Please, just... don't give it to Soren."

Well, Soren was quite pointedly ignoring Alex's question about whether they might like some actual help in capturing it, and on top of that had made it sound suspiciously like there was no way in hell Alexander was going to be getting two alpaca's for this one. He was about to snarl some snarky comment towards the almost brutish looking death horsemen when the other, much more pleasant, horsemen piped up, and Alex turned his attention back towards him...her...whatever. Like Taryn, he was having some trouble figuring out if the sage was female or male, though it sounded and acted more masculine. But dat hair!
Oh wait no, Alex was not checking out another dudes hair. That'd just be wrong.
"She is." Alex had to agree, giving Taryn a quick grin as he reached up to run fingers through his own mess of white and black hair, now flecked with blood.
At the famine horsemens solemn declaration that Alex would get his two alpaca's for this, the zomboil nodded at him in return, appreciating that at least one of them wasn't trying to slip out of the deal, though again, Alex had no idea how much the word of a sage actually meant. They could all be tricksters for all he knew.
Alex then waited patiently while Taryn jotted down her information, cringing when she cursed at him and replying with an, "I'm really sorry, Taryn!" In an almost weedling tone. "I can probably help you to get that out..my mom is always having to get blood stains out of my own clothing and...and if we can't get it clean, maybe I can get you a new one?" He was giving her a very sincere look, though how in Halloween he would ever have enough money to afford to get her a new jacket was beyond him, since his mom had absolutely and completely cut him off from any amount of silver seed income now. When she was finished, he took the pen and notepad away from her, writing down his own contact info, though he wondered if putting his phone number was really all that helpful to a horsemen. They didn't even have phones, did they? Oh well, at least he had put his room number and which dorm he was located in down as well.
He held the pen and notepad back out towards the sage, giving him another nod in thanks for the compensation he was offering, before turning back towards the alpaca.
At least watching this 'Soren' attempt to capture the wild acting alpaca might provide some level of entertainment now.
