(( This RP is back-dated to when Neoni'liga's litter were all Adolescents. )) Today was the day that she and her family had been waiting for. It had been tough at times, as some Pride members still looked down on her for the way in which her family came about. It had all been worth it though, every single day. She couldn't even imagine life without her family, and so she had no regrets whatsoever. Today was the day that she would witness her beautiful babies make their journey into adulthood.
Smiling widely, she watched as each of her children lined up along the beach. She had chosen such a perfect day. The sea lapped invitingly against their paws, although she had warned them not to underestimate the power of the ocean. She knew all too well what the sea was capable of, as the tsunami had reminded the Bahari'mtoto. Despite that however, she had taught them never to fear the sea. They simply had to respect it.
She was more than confident that each of them would complete their Rites with ease, and so she would hang back until all of them were done.

As the only male in the litter, Kinacha'bahari felt very strongly about going first. Not just because he wanted to show off, but because he wanted to see how difficult it was. He loved his sisters dearly, and so he wanted to be able to advise them if it was harder than all of them expected it to be.
"Wish me luck." He said with grin, looking at each of his sisters before he slowly but surely made his way into the water. The tide had already started coming in, but it did very little to slow him down. He was far too eager to prove himself as he waded further and further out to sea.
When he came to a stop, his paws could still feel the sand beneath them, but only just. His bright magenta mane swirled around his head as the sea worked its way around and over his body. It was such a strange experience, unlike anything he had ever felt before. He closed his eyes firmly as the sea suddenly washed over him completely. Every time the water relented he took a deep breath, so that he would be alright should the ocean swallow him up again.
He allowed the water to wash over him for a good long while before he finally felt his paws being lifted from the sandy bottom. That was the sign for him to make his way back, having successfully completed the Ba'Ushufo. Grinning widely, he swam forcefully back to the shore. He felt so proud of himself, but suddenly didn't feel like making a big song and dance. His sisters still needed to take their Rites, and so he couldn't relax just yet.
With this in mind, Kinacha'bahari playfully nuzzled each of his sisters, laughing as they attempted to dodge his wet face and mane. He then joined his mother a bit further back on the beach, nuzzling her gently whilst a rumbling purr radiated in his throat. "I did it!"

Nuru could barely contain her excitement as she and her siblings lined up along the beach. Her paws moved up and down, almost as if she was jogging on the spot. She also kept looking at her mother Neoni'liga. They were such a close family, all of them living for one another.
The bright purple lioness watched in awe as her brother Kinacha'bahari completed his Rites. The part where he went under the water completely actually scared her, but he seemed in control at all times. When he returned to the beach, she laughed as he went to nuzzle her, before attempting to bat him away.
"OK, it's my turn now!" With that, Nuru bounded into the sea, splashing up a lot of water as she did so. She was almost hopping as she made her way out to sea, and a seemingly much quicker pace than her brother had. Since she wasn't a particularly big lioness though, it wasn't long before she was far enough out so that her head could just be seen.
As the sea picked up, it only took one wave to cover her completely. She hadn't been fully prepared, so when her head popped up again, she coughed a little. She knew what to do now though, and so she firmly planted her feet on the sandy ocean floor so that the water could move freely around her without it knocking her off her feet.
With each wave the passed over and around her, she felt more and more proud. When her paws lifted from the ground, it actually took her by surprise. She had done it! Excitedly, she swam back to shore, again at a much quicker pace than her brother.
"Yaaay! I did it! I did it!" When she reached the shore, she jumped happily up and down before running to where her mother and brother were. She practically tackled her mother in her excitement, but she just couldn't contain herself. "I'm an adult now!" She said with a laugh.

It was her turn - Zephyranthes had the opportunity to pledge herself to the ocean and declare herself ready to be an adult. It was important for many reasons, but there was one that rang clearly in her head. It wasn't that she was about to become an adult at all, but the fact that she would prove to everyone in the pride that her mother had raised her children right - that they appreciated and revered the ocean exactly as they should have, that they weren't a curse and rather, would be recognised as a blessing.
Thus, it should have come at no surprise that once Nuru had completely her passage into adulthood, Zephyranthes demonstrated no hesitation and stepped forward. However, rather than pad in as her siblings had, the light pink lioness leapt up onto the rocks beside the shore, padded along the ridge slightly and then stopped. It was then that she closed her eyes, cleared her throat and emptied her mind - no one knew, but she had a secret... she hadn't known who it was, but she had watched another pledge their life to the ocean before and the manner in which they had done so was breath taking.
...She wanted to be the same.
Eyes still shut, she took a few steps back, paused and then lunged forward, leaping off the 'platform' provided by the rocks and into the ocean. She instantly plunged to the bottom, sinking to the depths where her paws touched the sands and she was lightly rocked from side to side by the waves above her head. It was only then as she settled at the bottom that her eyes opened and she caster her gaze into the depths and there, she marvelled at what secrets the ocean held.
It was amazing!
Alas, she couldn't breathe under the water and it was with a sense of urgency that her lungs nudged her to the surface and so, with a series of powerful thrusts of her legs, the feline pushed herself to the surface once more and sucked in a breath. She was positively refreshed and as her eyes were greeted by the light of the morning, she was a new lioness as well... She was an adult, and like her siblings, she had done her mother proud.
A smile lining her lips, Zephyr paddled back to the shore and slowly drew herself onto the sands. Coming to a halt, she then gave an abrupt shake to push the water from her fur and nodded.
She'd taken her rites and for now, it appeared the ocean had accepted her.

Seemingly Leucothea had been left til last. She was a dainty lioness and she had watched carefully as each of her siblings took their rites. She had forcibly swatted away her soggy brother when he attempted his cheery nuzzle. "Pest." She mumbled and smiled as her bright sister took to the water quickly followed by her pink sister. She rolls her eyes "Show off." She huffs, feeling her rites would certainly be under appreciated after such a flamboyant run by her soft pink sister. Still this was an important day and she wasn't going to let the more flamboyant of her siblings take that away from her.
She love the sea and that was the important bit, the sea was home, it was a part of her, her veins sang with it and her tongue tasted of the salty brine. She glances back at her siblings and mother smiling a graceful sort of smile before she moved in to the waves, stepping out almost like a fairy on the waves.
Her paws never left the sandy shore and she was prepared silently for each of the waves as they pushed towards her. The gentle flow lifted her off her paws, and she floated for a moment on the waves, feeling light as a feather, before she turned and swam, gently, almost silently back to the shore.
Allowing the water to drip from her fur as she padded back up the beach she greets her mother with a gentle nuzzle and smiles quietly at her siblings.

Tentative, adolescent paws came anxiously swooping down along the coastline in line with her other siblings. She was in the middle of them, watching her brother confidently lead the way. She wondered if she was the only one who felt this way; she couldn't have been! It was their passage into adulthood, and whoever could so brazenly go about it must have a curious reason to feel exactly that.
Their mother, Neoni'liga, gave her the strength and courage to feel a bit more at ease. Her mother's purple form stood out so well in the short distance, and something about her aura made the air seem... a lot more happier and exciting. She watched intently as Kinacha'bahari, Nuru, and Zephyranthes went... As each of them drifted into the water, her eyes widened in surprise and slight fright when a couple of them completely vanished under the water for a few moments. Sure, she loved the ocean, but she had never tried out completely being immersed in it.
When it came time for herself and Leucothea to go, she took a deep breath and trudged towards the water, feeling it rise up against her toes, legs, arms... and then chest, and a funny feeling came to her; it tickled her stomach, and she gulped. This was not a time to hesitate!
Lana made herself trudge forwards, her paws almost dangling off of the sandy ground underneath all that water. The felt the waves try to engulf her neck, almost her face... but her spirit persevered, and she kept a straight face until her paws finally lifted, and she felt like a floating cloud in the ocean.
She was able to paddle herself back, gleaming at everyone with pure accomplishment and joy. As she realized that all of them had successfully completed their rites with no trouble at all, a warmth flooded her heart for their family. Their mother was the cause of all of their happiness and success, and for that, Lana was very blessed.
