Wilson had been tempted to rip off the headband and trudge back to the bunker. He really had, but then wiping out the creatures in the main building had become so easy during the second half. Perhaps it would be useful to do a bit more of clearing before he decided to call it quits. But first he decided to take a quick breather before he headed back out. He flopped on the bed for a few moments before the impatient whinnying of Gramps urged him to get back up and head for the training courses. Wilson didn’t know what locations the other trainees would decide to clear out if they decided to do so, but he was going to clear out the training courses because he could.
Also, maybe he secretly wanted to clear out the Death training course so he could try it again. It was kind of shameful to admit that he hadn't really done it much despite being of the division. He should probably change that.
But when he arrived he saw nothing. Huh.

In the back of his mind, Wilson wished he could play video games on the island, but regular technology just refused to work for one reason or another. The thought left the young man crashed. Sure, he often preferred sports over video games, but who didn’t like a good game once in a while?
Especially Pokemon.
No, he wasn’t thinking about this because he was wearing Pikachu ears, okay?
“PIKACHU!” He may or may not have said that with too much nostalgic glee when his cannons squirted out a stream of poisonous gas.

Admittedly, Wilson’s hit this time around wasn’t as strong as last time. Noticeably so, but the creature didn’t look too strong to begin with. Why waste energy on overkilling something?
Except he overkilled it anyway. At least this time it wasn’t by much, right?

Once again the creature disappeared with a small flourish. The trainee was now left on his own in the middle of the fog. He looked around, half-expecting for another mist creature to jump out at him, but nothing happened. Wilson stood around and decided to wait and see if something would lunge at him suddenly.

There was an uncomfortable silence as Wilson continued to wait in the middle of the training course. It actually made him more uneasy than he thought it would. This was, after all, a rather torturous place filled with many horrible deaths. And now he was by himself trying to defeat creatures similar to the shadowlings, but somewhat more stronger. Still, there was nothing. He decided to tentatively step forward, and then another step.

The time between now and the last thing he had defeated wasn’t very long, but the trainee was on a roll. It was completely the headband’s fault, but a little ego boost to his fighting confidence never hurt, even if it was only temporarily. Wilson hummed cheerfully as he brought down both of his cannons upon the poor thing.

Well, all the creatures were unwanted here, but this was particularly so.

Wilson took a deep breath as he stood before the cloud-shaped figure. He draped both arms by his side before reluctantly bringing them up and pointing them at the creature to release another green cloud of gas.
The creature didn’t take too well to it.

He pursed his lips together, but the returning damage dealt wasn’t too much. Wilson could trudge on, so he did.
Again he lifted his arms to point his weapon at it and fired.
It dissipated in a flurry of shrieks.

There was something about defeating a large creature that created a weird silence afterwards. It was always silence because as far as he knew, Wilson was the only trainee here clearing out monsters, but he didn’t immediately encounter another mob that he needed to fight. There was only silence.
