Acubens was fresh from her strange encounter with Lesath. Her brain still buzzed with the contradictions and shaky truce they’d called. Would it hold? How long would it hold for? What would happen when it broke again?

All Acubens seems to do as a senshi was question. Even as a super, finally knowing her place and her purpose, she had questions.

Why was she doomed to love Lesath who would only ever kill her? Why did her heart belong across enemy lines? Why couldn’t they both blur the lines of good and evil and be, finally, together as sisters? Why was the Dark Mirror Court, a decidedly grey group, part of the enemy forces? And Why did Acubens feel like she belonged there?

She could have cried, balled up as she was in the grass. She didn’t even want to patrol. She just wanted to sleep.

The Knight of Earth stood atop a low roof, looking down over the city. It was a familiar view, no matter what building he was standing on. He smiled softly.

Something about tonight had him in a good mood. Maybe it was because he was well settled into his status as a true Knight, in rank not just in team. He was strong and confident, but he still never lost sight of what he was doing. The peace he was working toward.

It was not just for himself. He knew that he was happy in his life, with the woman he loved, the job he loved, even his lost dog restored to him. And this life, as Camelot, made him proud and happy.

He could not really complain, for his own part.

But there was still danger out there for the people he cared about, and all those people he had never met before. For them, he kept fighting, he kept patrolling, and he kept working toward an end to this war that did not require any side being wiped out.

Feeling an energy signature nearby, he bounced down from the roof and moved toward the source, spotting the girl in the grass.

"Is everything alright?" he asked softly, as he drew closer.

"Yeah." The answer came automatically to Acubens' lips, never raising her eyes or her face from her knees. She was too busy feeling sorry for herself. She didn't even have the energy to correct herself, telling the new stranger that yes, she was alright, just tired and a little under the weather. Her answer sounded like an impetuous child who wanted attention, but was trying not to be a brat by denying her want. But then there was still that lack of energy to correct herself.

But unless she wanted an interrogation from an adult who thought they were doing good, she should elaborate.

Acubens sighed, slipping off her clawed heels and crossing her legs under her. "Just had a little altercation with a friend, and now I'm kind of bummed." She shrugged lightly, clacking her shoes together idly. "But Ig uess that's what I get for being friends across enemy lines, right?" She smiled softly up at the older man. "Ah, but I do love her. Even if she breaks my heart. What can I really do?"

Camelot tilted his head to the side.

"It can be difficult, maintaining friendships on the other side of the lines," he said with a nod of his head. He knew that well enough, and imagined most senshi and knights had similar problems. Family and friends fighting one another, some aware of it, some not. It was a miserable state of affairs.

But it was the way of the world now.

Maybe he was getting jaded, though his duty never faded from his mind. His approach was altering, accepting more things that he hadn't before, and knowing more than ever. He was trying to maintain his balance, but even he could see his own bias being formed.

He shook his head and smiled, stooping so he was a bit closer to her level.

"I guess we can hope we'll find an end to this war, and there won't be sides anymore."

"There will always be sides." There was a certain finality in Acubens' voice. "Duality is an latent, unfortunate aspect to life. to be good, there must be evil, and vice versa. When one is eliminated, through absorbtion or defeat, the other side, by default, because the side they were fighting, and a new opponent arises" Acubens clicked her heels together, some odd habit picked up form a movie, and wished herself home. More than just home, but normal again. There's nothing like normal. There's nothing like normal. There's nothing like normal...

Nothing.

Acubens really shouldn't have been surprised.

"For all intents and purposes, the Dark Mirror Court shouldn't even be chaos. Not Order either, but somewhere inbetween. A sort of grey area whose fighters only look out for the good of their comrades and thier faction. Not for the good of Order or Chaos." And she did so much want to be one of them. How her soul cried out for that small, driven family. Her Lesath, the woman she could love were it not for Keren who kept her grounded to what was supposed to be "good". "I look for her in my mirror sometimes."

Sometime in Acubens' mind smacked her and scolded her for being so rude. She cursed inwardly and stood, tucking her shoes behind her back.

"Gosh, I'm sorry. Here I am moping, and I haven't introduced myself. Powering up always makes me a little desolate. I'm Sailor Acubens. Senshi of Velociraptors. Please to meet you!" Acubens bounced a little on her bare feet, glad to feel grass and not snow at long last.

Camelot smiled and nodded his head patiently. It seemed like it was the truth, that it would be divided forever. A divide that was not clear, and constantly crossed. Fighting a war without clear distinctions was unfair, and he hated that children had to fight it. As if that made it worse. Not just lives, but young lives.

He let her lecture him, not unfamiliar with the process. He didn't correct her diction, and he didn't tell her she was wrong. Maybe she wasn't wrong. It was the nature of humans, after all, to be at war. But they weren't just fighting humans here.

"A gray area is a fantasy," he said, tilting his head at her patiently. he would have had his hands in his jacket pockets if he'd been powered down, but he wasn't. And his armor had no pockets, much to his woe. he just had to deal with it. "You just said so yourself. Two sides, good and evil. Where does the 'not so bad but still not good' side fall in that break down? And if they exist, then why can't peace exist? A world without this battle, at the very least. I think it's possible, and that's what I fight for. Or try not to fight... for."

He smiled a bit at that, not expressing himself as eloquently as he usually would. He shook his head, feeling languid. There would always be troubles in the world, and he would always be troubled by them, but he had learned how to cope a long time ago.

"Camelot," he said, with a polite, but honest, bow. "Knight of Earth. It's nice to meet you, Acubens. I'm sorry you're feeling down, though."

Not nearly as pretty a knight as Megiddo. Acubens kept the thought to herself, though failed to contain the grin that spread across her face, accompanied by a light blush. Still, her heart raced at the thought of her violet-haired warrior. god she was so proud of her. Surviving Lesath, powering up... Even if it didn't seem like much in Meiddo's eyes... Acubens knew she could be a great champion for justice one day.

"Well, maybe it was just wishful thinking then," Acubens conceded, pulling at the tattered edges of her skirt. "Maybe I just want to believe that tey are good because I love them." She could have laughed at herself. "I mean, my best bro is the Dark Mirror Senshi of Puppetry, and the woman I could love more than life itself were I not already in love with another is the Dark Mirror Senshi of Moths." she grinned sheepishly up at the older knight, tossing threads onto the ground below her.

"What does that make me, Camelot? I know what I need to do for the White Moon court, but I want to be with them.
