Lililamuna loved her life, there was nothing that pleased her more than her home, her children and the other cubs around. She would only admit to herself that she loved her Pad, and she did a great deal.
It was to make him proud that she strove to be the best of the best, the cream of the crop and damn if anyone try and tell her that she was anything but. She had been the first to bear his cubs, the first in the pride to catch his eye, she was the finest.
But she didnt let that go to her head, specially now as she hunted. She would bring in tonight's meal, and bask in the presence of her mate. Her Pad was the best, there was no one better or finner than him, and no one dared to even come close to his excellence.
She shook her head, she was starting to lose her train of thought and that, would not be tolerated. And thats when she saw it, a giraffe? A small one? Maybe a foal! Her brows shot up, that would be impressive to bring home..Stalking forward now, she was in huntress mode.

The thick, heavy scents of a pride made her slink around the far outer rim of it, the tall grasses protecting her from prying eyes, she hoped. She scanned the grasses around her, a herd of giraffe grazed the tops of trees not to far from her, she had a deep respect for the beast that her coat mimicked, they had been totems of great luck and were respected.
She paused and watched as a pair of foals raced and frolicked with each other, sitting and curling her tail around her paws as she watched, she was no threat to them and they seemed to sense this.
A deep purr echoed from her chest as she watched, it made her long for her family, she missed them greatly. Oh how it hurt to miss them, the smile that was tugging on her muzzle made her feel guilty.

She prowled through the long grasses, thankful for them to help hide her unnatural coat, she normally wouldnt try and hunt during the day like this. Night and twilight hunting were much more her style and were she was easier to hide than during the day.
But she could see the two foals playing now, and what a treat it would be to bring home one, surely her Pad would be proud.
She waited, watching both the foals as she grew closer to them.

Chanda watched the foals too, she felt closer to her lost family sitting here, watching them play together. Something quiet and peaceful fell over her, and she relaxed for once, something that hadnt happened in so long.
Watching the foals is when she noticed, the lighter of the two had a limp, that it didnt move quiet as well as the other one. She continued to watch as it played without a care.

Lili saw this weakness too, and thought of how this kill would feed everyone in her den, and that she could use the skin for a nice new padding.
She saw her moment to take it as the foals danced closer to her, claws extended as she hunched lower, her eyes on the prize and as it came within her reach, she lept.
With a roar, she landed onto the foal, who was big enough to hold her until she latched onto its throat, with a struggling, gurggling cry she latched on, feeling blood start to drizzle down her muzzle.
She could feel the foal growing weak.

"NOOO!" Chanda roared out as she rose to her paws, she couldnt believe she hadnt seen the other lioness, who had taken down one of the other foals, the weaker of the pair as the other raced away back to the protection of its parents, the others mother let out a mournful cry before turning away, helpless to the acts of nature.
Chanda raced over, though her mind told her there was nothing she could do, her heart screamed for action. She bore her fangs at the other lioness, "Let the foal go.."

The sight of the fang baring, giraffe colored lioness caught Lili off guard, and she simply stared at her for a long moment.
The pulse of the foal was now quiet, and she released her hold of it, letting it lay limp at her paws. "What does it matter to you." She said with cool tones, as she eyed the land behind her, if this was to be an ambush, she would go down fighting.

"How could you destroy something so peaceful?!" Chanda shook her head, emotions bubbled and over flowed over each other, sorrow, anger and a hurt that she couldnt explain.
"They werent hurting anything...they hadnt done anything to you!" She roared, as she then gently ran her paw over the dead body. Tears streaming down her face as she gazed down, though she wasnt looking at the foal any longer.

Lili was confused for a long moment, what was going on here. She eyed the lioness, there seemed to be a deeper problem than the mere killing of the foal, but what it was, was beyond her. “Ive a family and mate to feed…this death was not senseless or for mere sport.” She said as gently as she could. “Nothing of this foal will be wasted..”

Chanda’s head shook, it didn’t matter. It simply didn’t matter anymore, the life was gone, wasted on something as simple as filling ones belly. She didn’t say anything, she simply stared at the lifeless eyes and felt part of her cry out. She didn’t know what was wrong, she just knew there was something about this that was killing her inside.

Lililamuna watched the other lioness, and felt a pang of guilt. She didn’t know what was plaguing the lioness, but she suddenly looked so sad, and just..broken, that she couldn’t help but feel her own heart break in two. She shifted, and gently nudged the others shoulder. “It will be alright..”

At the touch of the other, Chanda felt empty. She felt as if she were alone in the world, only one other knew how she felt right now, and well Berj had moved past these feelings. And Chanda was left to work them out on her own..She simply didn’t understand why she was having them.
“Im sorry..I shouldn’t have.” Chanda stepped back.

“No, no its alright..” Lililamuna’s tone was soothing and gentle, the same tone she would use on a sick, or fussy cub. She was gentle when needed, and held that air around her, one of peaceful bliss. She patted the others paw gently. “We all have strong feelings and emotions about one thing or another.” She said with a nod.

Chanda felt foolish, she rose to her paws and shook her head. Her cheeks still wet with tears as she stepped back, and away from Lililamuna. “Thank you…I must..go.” She continued to draw back into the shelter of the tall grasses until she was sure, she couldn’t be seen anymore, and with that she ran…she just raced away into the fading sunset with a heavy heart, and mind full of unanswered questions.
