Day 11 since our return. I went against Killzone's orders yesterday, and went out into the fog again. It was alright, generally speaking. I felt alright. I even came back and meditated for a little while until the whispers caught up to me again and I realized what a dangerous, reckless thing it was I did. Should be putting my efforts in a more productive fashion but this is something I just need to do. Screw them all if they think I'm wasting valuable resources.
There is something therapeutic about blowing things up with a bazooka... It's been getting easier to think clearly. I think I might be getting better. I haven't cried once today.
Jerry stared at the fresh journal entry with knit brows before taking a sip of the sludge like coffee. With a sigh he rubbed his hand through his scruffy hair. He really needed a haircut.

Rin was feeling better and better every day, the nightmares receded and permitted her a good nights rest. Still, the lesson in it wasn't forgotten. She didn't want to be alone forever. She didn't want to wall herself off from her fellow coworkers.
It was for this reason that she lurked back into the Canteen. In search of familiar faces.
One such face did cross her path, though it's bespectacled presence seemed buried in a diary.
She sloooowly raised a brow before approaching and attempting to sit nearby. Quietly waiting for him to no longer be so distracted. So very patiently.

Had a whole four hours sleep last night- he started to write before sensed eyes on him. The dolphin-clad notebook was snapped shut immediately, along with the orange pen with it as he glanced up to see who was watching him. "Ah... M-miss... Rin wasn't it?" His brows furrowed. He was generally good with names, but with everything going on, it made his brain scream in agony to try to remember most useful things. "The ah... ah... c-coffee's p-pretty terrible down here, huh?" He managed, giving a watery smile.
See? He was being social, even.

Rin studied the look on his face rather thoughtfully. She was right, the man had a diary. A diary with dolphins on it. She idly wondered if it also had a little lock with a key. Possibly on a small pink string as diaries tended to go.
She smiled in a way she hoped was welcoming - but really it was quite sterile, "Yes, yes. Rin.. and you're Jerry, right?"
She almost seemed predatory in the way she was eyeing him over, "I don't drink coffee. So I wouldn't know."
The smile grew to almost unnerving proportions, "What have you got there?"

His eyes darted down to the journal and back up to her like a rabbit caught in a trap. Immediately, the thing was scooped up to be shoved into his jacket, "N-nothing-othing. Er... K-killzone gave it to me um. H-how... how are you fairing?"

Rin couldn't help the small chuckle that erupted, "Ohoho. Rather well, even more now."
She leaned back against her seat and crossed her legs, "What's a guy like you need with a diary anyway?"

His face had gone red, "It's n-n-not a diary. It's a j-journal," He replied a touch defensively. "To... to g-get my thoughts straight." He kept it at that, busying his mouth with another slurp of coffee.

"And why so stuttery too?" she frowned a bit, quietly refusing to accept that that book was a journal and not a diary.
"You're suddenly sounding like Porky Pig. Here I thought you were some determined strong-type who tried to cover our asses... but now..." she twirled her hand trying to place the words as gently as her mind would allow, "Now I'm thinking pork chops."

He flushed even harder behind his stubble and scars, knuckles going white on his coffee cup. "I'm f-fine, alright? I'm getting b... better." He swallowed thickly. It wasn't any of this young trainee's business. Somehow, announcing to her he had been a breath away from a nervous breakdown did not seem like a god idea. He was an intermediate. He was going to be a full fledged hunter soon. He couldn't seem weak in front of them. "S-sometimes you just... n-need to get your... your..." How did Killzone put it? "Your m-mental feng shuay in order."

"Don't sound fine." she gave him a thoughtful if not somewhat concerned look.
"You know," she stretched out a little before uncrossing and recrossing her legs in the other direction, "We all had some pretty crazy experiences from this last mission, right?"
She looked about herself thoughtfully to ensure no one was eaves dropping before leaning back in a bit, "I keep having this bad dream that everyone headed back up ground but left me behind. Locked in. Alone. Only, like, this note you guys left me saying there was no more room up top for me to keep me company. Trippy s**t."

Jerry scowled down at his coffee before setting it on the table, "Y-yeah... the ah... it..." He floundered, unsure of what to say. "It's just dreams. You... you shake them off," He assured her. He had had plenty of his own nightmares, "I haven't... haven't been sleeping much myself." By the look of the bags under his eyes, it wasn't much at all. "But we keep t-trucking. Some of us have b-been through worse. And if not, I'm sure there will be worse down the line. Just... just keep trucking," He mumbled with a nod.
His brain was swimming again, the whispers picking up once more as an ache drifted up from his leg. He gave it a nervous rub under the table. "Your er... injuries all healing?"

"I know that," both her brows raised at Jerry, "I just wonder if you do. You look like s**t and sound like s**t."
But then he seemed distracted again with his question, "I'm fine. Think I'm a bit scarred for life here and there but fine."
Her eyes wandered over him a bit, "You don;t look fine, however."

"I am FINE," He snapped, hammering a skinny fist onto the table, "And if anyone ASKS, I'm fine." Or he WAS fine until this girl came and started... prying. "It's... it's just this bunker. It's stressing everyone out." He tried to soften his voice, but even so he looked uncharacteristically annoyed.

"Would it help you if I sung something?" she gave him a rather baffled but genuinely interested stare. Quietly tucking away the fact he'd effectively scared her a bit, deep down. This guy was acting unhinged. No wonder he destroyed that bathroom. He didn't seem the type before, but now she's apt to believe Rep's take on the story.

He gave an exasperated sigh, shaking his head as he hunched over to cradle his face between his hands, pushing his glasses up to his forehead. "No... no. I'm... I'm just... you w-woo-went to the lecture, right?"
